Anders Breivik’s disgusting sanity — John Lloyd

APRIL 22 — To watch Anders Breivik, in the news clips available of him in the Oslo court where he is being tried for mass murder, is to see a smile on the face of an animal much more terrifying than any beast: a human fanatic, whose own mental processes have produced a monstrous creature.

That smile is so normal, appearing so naturally in his conversations with his defence lawyer Geir Lippestad. It seems almost…carefree. Indeed, Breivik does seem free from care.

"I would say," said Lippestad on Wednesday, in the precise and fluent English all Norwegians seem able to speak, that "he's always in a good mood."

Lippestad, who will likely never have another such shot at fame, will probably never again walk such a high wire. He must defend a man most of the world believes to be wholly indefensible and many in Norway know as one who murdered a relative, friend or acquaintance. He must accompany his client as he comes to court and gives his defiant, fist-out salute.

Breivik has been asked to stop, but so far hasn't. Lippestad is helpless in this matter, saying that "either he will or he won't. There's nothing that we can order him to do." The Norwegian authorities are grimly determined that all the rules of a liberal order be followed: Lippestad, in a liberal society's iconic (but hardly popular) role of the defender of a human horror, bears the brunt.

And he must argue, under instructions from his client, that he is sane. If he's sane, he can get 21 years — the maximum sentence — and then, after he serves the sentence, there will be an argument (which Breivik may win) that he can be freed if he is judged no longer to be a danger to society. A judgment that he is insane could keep him in a secure medical facility for life, if that custody is constantly re-imposed on three-year reviews.

He has said: Give me liberty or give me death. He says the maximum sentence would be "absurd." Norway has no death penalty: It is not about to invent one for him, even if many Norwegians would wish it (including one of the lay judges on the panel hearing the case, who had to resign when he made this clear).

Breivik is instructing Lippestad to argue for his sanity because he wants the world to know that he acted consciously, logically, sanely — even, as he memorably argued earlier this week, out of "goodness" and "necessity" (the word was initially translated as "self-defence" but has since been corrected).

"Necessity" in the sense Breivik wishes to convey is the needful protection of Norwegian — and European — society from Islam, from the ideology of multiculturalism that foists Islam on Christian societies, and from the agents of multiculturalism — in this case, the ruling Norwegian Labor Party, 69 of whose youth league members he killed on the island of Utøya on July 22, 2011. He would, he said, "do it again," a claim that he must have seen as elevating his squalid massacre to the status of an opening battle in a long war over the forces that are destroying Europe.

Crazy, isn't it? Even those who believe that immigration has been too high; who believe that Islamic extremism presents a constant and perhaps growing danger to the world, Europe included; who blame successive governments for policies that have too rapidly changed once largely mono-ethnic states into multicultural nations; who have whipped such feelings into a passion that leads them to join or to vote for parties of the far right — even they must feel that this is a diseased mind.

There is a dilemma here. Democratic societies must live with bad ideologies, including those that claim Europe must be purged of all alien races, as well as those that call for its total Islamisation. That can be deeply uncomfortable, and courts dangers: Ideologies can be proclaimed with no more violence than their own inflamed rhetoric until, one day, someone or some group decides to convert the words to deeds. But we have to live in and with the messy compromises that such extremism dictates for elected governments.

We should not inflate debate about immigration and multiculturalism by democratic politicians and citizens into a claim that a new racist discourse is taking a grip on Europe. That is what Mariano Aguirre of the Norwegian Peacebuilding Centre did in Le Monde Diplomatique earlier this week, arguing that both Angela Merkel of Germany and David Cameron of the UK had contributed to the rise of the far right by declaring multiculturalism "dead." But, in fact, both Merkel and Cameron were arguing for a more integrated society in which different ethnic and faith groups didn't feel impelled or encouraged to emphasize their separateness. They were arguing for their fuller citizenship, not their marginalization.

We can't solve the dilemma by concluding that Breivik is mad. In this, at least, we should take his word for it. For if he is judged mad, most of the ground we have previously occupied in making moral and judicial decisions is cut away.

Those we have judged to be the chief monsters of the 20th century — Hitler, Mao, Stalin — we have generally assumed to be sane. We certainly assumed Hitler's senior lieutenants to be sane when they were judged, and in many cases executed, at Nuremberg. Leaders of the West dealt with, indeed at different times wooed, both Stalin and Mao, and treated them as legitimate leaders of their people.

Yet were they not mad, by the same token used by those who judge Breivik to be mad? To conclude that the survival of Germany required the mass murder of as many Jews as could be obtained; to provoke and preside over a civil war (the "Cultural Revolution") to bolster one's position and continue the "people's revolution"; to starve millions in the course of eradicating "rich" peasants and imprison millions in Siberian camps for a careless complaint or joke about the regime, a recalcitrant attitude to work, a friendship with or a family connection to one already judged an "enemy of the people" — all in the service of creating a workers' and peasants' state of advanced socialism: Are these not the actions of maniacs?

And is it not mad to declare war on the "Jews and Crusaders" — that is, the Western world —  to usher in an era of harmony under the tutelage of a single, extreme interpretation of the Koran? How, then, can we judge those who have dedicated, or would dedicate, their life to this as adults responsible for their decisions?

But we have, we do and we are right to do so. Sanity comprehends the imagining, the propagation, the planning and the execution of extraordinary violence, lasting years and slaughtering millions. It includes creating machines of murder that go about their work without their progenitor being present, or even knowing how they work.

It includes energetic efforts to spread murderous theories beyond the borders of the state. Sane people have done terrible things: It was their sanity, their ability to plan and to enthuse others, that made them so terrible.

And sanity includes Anders Breivik. It may be — as the prosecution is attempting to show — that he lives in a fantasy world where networks of Knights Templars giving closed-fist salutes plan other such atrocities as his to save Europe from an Islamic fate.

It is certainly the case that he acted on the prompting of a belief that he was and remains a patriotic, Christian militant, able to see with clearer eyes than the apathetic majority what is happening to them.

He, who is in most eyes the embodiment of evil, is in his own mind undertaking the lesser evil: the delivery of a shock to his and other societies through slaughter to focus their attention on the much larger slaughter to come, and hence avert it. That's hideous, and we should fear that he might inspire others like him. But he knew what he was about. It's not mad. — Reuters

Election Offences Act amendments – BN attempt to steal GE 13

Last Thursday, the BN government and their cohorts the SPR clearly demonstrated in unequivocal terms their intent to steal GE 13. They presented a bill to amend the Election Offences Act 1954 to further restrict scrutiny of the voting process by representatives of political parties and make the system more amenable to manipulation.

The original changes proposed included the following:

a. removing the right of political parties to set up booths to assist voters establish their names on the electoral roll and saluran numbers identity of voters before going into polling stations ( called "pondok panas" ) [ section (26)(1)(e) ]
b. removing the right of political parties to have representatives observing the process in the SPR booths inside polling stations ( Barung SPR ) where voters check their names and get their saluran numbers etc [section 26A]
c. amending section 14 (1A) so that the SPR would dictate the time of arrival and departure of polling and counting agents of candidates at polling stations. The current law provided for polling and counting agents to arrive at the time decided by the political parties as long as they stayed at the polling stations for at least 2 hours.

The net effect of these changes would have been to greatly reduce the current scrutiny of the voting process.

Pakatan Rakyat MPs put up strenuous objections to the amendments. Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim warned the BN in the closing words of his speech on Thursday morning that these new provisions would be defied by the opposition even if passed by the BN. He said that Pakatan Rakyat would not give up the established rights under the law which aided transparency in the process.

The BN in the afternoon of Thursday then presented fresh amendments to the Bill backing down on (a) and (c) above restoring the status quo.  However they used their brute majority in the House to ram through the amendment removing party representatives observing the process in the SPR Barung.

Opposition MPs argued to no avail that the SPR Barung was initiated by the BN by amendments in 2003 to assist voters to get their electoral and saluran numbers and had been implemented in the 2004 and 2008 elections without any issues. The lame justification put forward by the BN and the SPR was that "this causes difficulties to the election workers". When asked for reports of such "difficulties" none were cited.

Another controversial amendment pushed through was the removal of section 11(1)(c) requiring all printed material during campaign to bear the name of the publisher and printer. Removal of the onerous requirement of naming the printer all the time would have improved the provision as was argued by PR MPs.  However removing it all together has opened the door to a dirtier election where all sorts of defamatory or inflammatory material could be put out without anyone taking responsibility for them.

What was apparent was that the BN and SPR were not interested in presenting the necessary amendments to the law to implement KEY recommendations by the Parliamentary Select Committee on Electoral Reform. Nothing had been done for example on key issues such as access to the media and the question of how a caretaker government. Even the regulations to implement "early voting" which was to replace the so-called postal voting system for army personnel, their spouses and police personnel were not presented to Parliament by the last day of the sitting leaving open the question of whether the BN and SPR were going to implement this key change for GE 13.

These legislative moves by the BN and SPR on Thursday made it clear that their real intent was to make the electoral process less transparent and easier to manipulate. It is clear that BERSIH 3.0 is needed even more than before. BERSIH's demand that the key recommendations of the PSC report must be implemented before GE 13 is central to a free and fair election.

The Election Commission must resign for the legislative fiasco they caused in Parliament on Thursday and for their intransigence in implementing the PSC report and BERSIH demands.

City shenanigans over Bersih 3.0

— Justice Seeker
The Malaysian Insider
Apr 22, 2012

APRIL 22 — The mayor of Kuala Lumpur, or the man who heads the KL City Hall (DBKL), is a political appointee.

He is appointed by Prime Minister Najib Razak, and he takes orders from Putrajaya. It is not an independent DBKL, as Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein would have us believe, that the people at DBKL make decisions independently or without fear or favour.

DBKL listens to Najib, Federal Territories Minister Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin, or any other Barisan Nasional power broker.

So Hishammuddin can save his act about hoping DBKL will offer the organisers of Bersih 3.0 the alternative of Stadium Merdeka, now that DBKL has denied approval for the use of Dataran Merdeka.

The Cabinet, in which Hishammuddin is a member, decided that Dataran Merdeka is off limits and wants to confine Bersih 3.0 to Stadium Merdeka and this information has been communicated to DBKL.

But here is the minister trying to hoodwink Malaysians into thinking a) that he is a reasonable chap; b) that the Datuk Bandar is some independent-minded chap and c) that the BN government is really unconcerned about Bersih 3.0.

This is the depth of the ministers; they get some talking points prepared for them by the government's communications team and think that it sounds intelligent.

No one who has had any dealings with DBKL doubts that they are bound by instructions from Putrajaya!

Pilihan raya berasingan kerana kelemahan SPR

'Seperti lembu dicucuk hidung'

"Kita mendesak SPR berhenti menjadi jurucakap BN.

‘Unwise for Umno to axe Najib after GE’

Nigel Aw | Apr 21, 2012
Malaysiakini

Even if the BN wins the next general election but losses more seats, it would still be unwise for Umno to unseat Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak as they did with his predecessor, says prominent author Barry Wain.

This, he said, is because the premier is popular among the people and the ruling coalition and government are dependent on his star power.

"In the event if Najib still wins the election but drops say a dozen seats, he could come under pressure, but it is difficult because Najib is personally popular.

"He is extremely popular, far more popular than Umno, the government and the BN.

"What they have going for them now in terms of electoral appeal is Najib," Wain (left) said at a talk organised by the Foreign Correspondents Club Malaysia (FCCM) in Kuala Lumpur.

Former Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi had faced an internal rebellion within Umno even after leading the ruling coalition to a historical victory in 2004 when hit by the disastrous debacle of 2008 – the worst performance since the Barisan Nasional was born in 1972.

Speaking to some 30 FCCM members, the former Wall Street Journal Asia editor, who has resided in Asia for almost 40 years, said another reason Umno should consider retaining Najib is the issue of succession.

"If they (Umno) try to get rid of him, it is not an easy one because the logical person to put, if going by precedent, would be deputy prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin.

"He is not a terribly attractive figure to the public and is fairly devious in the public realm," said Wain, who is writer-in-residence at the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies in Singapore.

Right-wing Umno's death knell?

Muhyiddin, he said, is only popular among the right-wing section of Umno and if these elements insist on ousting Najib, the repercussion for the party would be serious.

"It could be that the right-wing is so inward looking … they are so determined to go their own way and would just put him (Muhyiddin) there regardless, then I think they will get a big shock in the subsequent election," he said.

There aren't many obvious candidates out there who could take over the helm as premier and therefore any attempt to replace the incumbent must be decided with care, he added.

Wain had in 2010 had attracted the Home Ministry's spotlight after his book Malaysian Maverick: Mahathir Mohamad in Turbulence Times was withheld for five months for allegedly "insulting government leaders and Malay rulers".

However, Wain this year had released the second edition of the book with a new chapter to update Mahathir's political acitivities after retirement and in response to the former premier's memoirs, Doctor in the House.

The new chapter also deals with what Wain described as the "chaotic and primitive approach to the free flow of information" when the Home Ministry initially attempted to censor the book.

Pakatan not all that bad

It is funny how the nation's controversial former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad is going about canvassing support for Barisan Nasional, by urging the rakyat to avoid being swayed by racial sentiments and not be fooled by the opposition pact Pakatan Rakyat.

For Mahathir's benefit, if a trip "down memory lane" is made, the rakyat will cringe at how Umno, the dominant party of BN played the racial card, intimidating and threatening the non-Malays.

Does Mahathir not remember the antics of Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein who waved the Malay digger or keris at the Umno general assembly, his way of warning the non-Malays to never question the issue of Malay rights and privileges jealously guarded by Article 153 of the Federal Constitution.

Now, Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim has revealed that current prime minister Najib Tun Razak during his Umno Youth chief in 1987 had landed in trouble with premier Mahathir for stoking racial tension.

Why, Mahathir himself showed little respect towards the non-Malays when he sarcastically asked them to be grateful to the Malays for being given citizenship and reside in this country.

The people of this country will never forget the attack on the Christian and Sikh places of worship. Nor have they forgotten the pig head incidents that signalled that racial harmony in Malaysia has dipped to dangerous level.

"The people of Malaysia must realise this and choose their governments wisely. They must not allow racial sentiments to cloud good pragmatic common sense," Mahathir blogged.

But until and unless Umno stops using the racial "weapon" to stake its claim as the rightful heir to this country, the rakyat must use common sense and think very, very hard in deciding which government can best administer this nation of 28 million people.

BN riddled with fiascos

In 1994, the then Malacca chief minister Abdul Rahim Thamby was charged with statutory rape of a minor. In 2008, former cabinet minister, Jamaluddin Jarjis who also served as Malaysia's ambassador to America, was alleged to have molested a bar worker of a five-star hotel in Kuala Lumpur.

Then, there was allegation that a current minister had in 2007 raped his Indonesian domestic worker.

The rakyat also remember how the present MCA chief, Dr Chua Soi Lek in 2008 made "news" after DVD recordings of him having sex with a much younger woman started making their rounds, forcing Chua to relinquish his post as Health Minister.

Now, the heat is on another minister who the opposition claim paid a popular local actress up to RM1.5 million in four months.

The minister's driver who quit working for the minister due to the pressure involved said the minister would meet the actress each week in hotels around Kuala Lumpur, paying her between RM100,000 and RM200,000 at each meeting.

Can the minister explain to the rakyat where did he obtain the money which he had been lavishing on the actress for the past three years?

In the face of the long-standing debauchery displayed by these BN leaders, does it make any sense for the rakyat to go on lending support to such corrupt and philandering politicians?

Pakatan not all that bad

Mahathir credits the BN partnership with the growth and stability enjoyed by Malaysia and blamed the poor leadership quality of the fifth premier Abdullah Ahmad Badawi as the reason why BN lost miserably in the 12th general election in 2008. And Mahathir is certain the Pakatan ally can never do what BN has done for the people.

In case Mahathir feigns ignorance, transparency and accountability have never been the hallmark of the BN administration.

During Mahathir's autocractic rule, the Official Secrets Act was misused to hide matters and deny the rakyat the right to be informed and this enabled corruption to flourish as it was kept hidden from public scrutiny.

On the contrary, the Pakatan-controlled states in Selangor and Penang have put in place the Freedom of Information Act in order to be transparent and accountable.

And it is also no secret that during Mahathir's 22-long years as PM, many crony politicians amassed unimaginable wealth and elected representatives and cabinet ministers declared their assets only to Mahathir for obvious reasons.

But this is not the case with the Pakatan-led states of Selangor and Penang, both which require their exco members to make public their asset declaration.

In light of the good governance practiced by Pakatan, is there any reason for the rakyat to forsake their trust in the opposition.

Twenty-two years were long enough for Mahathir to do all the damage he could. In the four years that the Pakatan pact has performed, it has shown potential and this has given the rakyat hope, something which BN never bothered doing.

RMP - A Laughing Stock And The Man Who Would Be IGP (With BM Translation)

http://dinmerican.files.wordpress.com/2011/03/ismail-omar.jpg?w=450
There are already talks that the police day celebration was sponsored by the underground syndicates initiated by Ta Kin Yan who wants to repay the police force for providing protection to the illegal activities. It has also been said that Ta Kin Yan has supported IGP Ismail to fund the construction of a bungalow house in Shah Alam that costs RM4 million. So the 1% corrupted policeman is IGP Ismail Omar himself.

By Concerned Veteran

IGP Ismail Omar has admitted that only 1% of the Royal Malaysia Police is corrupted and that index crime had dropped 11.1 per cent and public satisfaction with the police had increased 70.5 per cent. He then announced that all members of the Civil Defence Corps (Jabatan Pertahanan Awam-JPAM) and the People's Volunteer Corps (RELA) would be donning police uniforms complete with badges and insignias when they perform beats and patrol together with other regular policemen. (Before this proposal could even take off, two RELA members were already charged for the murder of a foreign student.)

IGP Ismail added another feather to his cap when he awarded Tan Sri Robert Phang with the coveted plaque "Friend of the Police" in conjunction with the launching of the new police 'mascot' depicting a blue tiger at the last 205th Police Day celebration. The last thing the police need is a blue tiger mascot when its official logo itself already depicts the sacred symbol of "ALLAH" and "MUHAMMAD". Where lies the faith of our Muslim brothers in the Force? Is it "ALLAH" or the blue tiger? This is not only an affront to the sacrosanctity of Islam but an insult to all policemen who carry the badges on their caps.

Ironically these latest developments have all but made the Royal Malaysia Police the laughing stock of the world. Never has the Royal Malaysia Police in its 205 years of history, been so badly mortified by the incompetence and bungling performance of its IGP akin to the comical acts of Mr Bean. The days of glory as the country's lead agency in law enforcement, suppressing crime, maintenance of law and order and intelligence gathering, has been blotted out by the clownish act of its IGP. What you have now is a toothless tiger in blue - scorned and mocked by both the police and public alike.

IGP Ismail's claim that only 1 per cent of the police is corrupted is merely a deceitful ex! cuse to cover up his own personal links with the underworld whom he had collaborated since taking over the IGP post. Since he took over the top police job, illegal activities carried out by the underground has grown from leaps and bounds ranging from bookies, illegal lotteries, gaming machines, prostitution, secret societies, ah longs, drugs and human trafficking. All these illegal and immoral social activities has helped the underground syndicates, controlled by the warlord Ta Kin Yan- the crime advisor to Home Minister Hishamuddin Hussin Onn - to amass his wealth and consolidate his power and control over these illegal activities.

The syndicates contribute a certain percentage of their ill-gotten gains to a common pool controlled by Ta Kin Yan for the personal and political benefits of Hishamuddin Hussin Onn. Part of this collection as well as sort of cleansing ritual, is given away to charity as a disguise under their corporate social responsibility program headed by former IGP Norian Mai who is a director in one of Ta Kin Yan's company. The rest goes to Hishamuddin's fund in support of his political campaigns in the general election as well as his ambition to wrest the Deputy Presidency of UMNO from Mahyuddin.

Let be reminded Hishamuddin - look not too high, lest a chip fall in your eye. It is from this dirty money that Hishamuddin can assure himself of realising his political ambition to ascend the ladder of Prime Minister. To Ta Kin Yan, IGP Ismail Omar is a mere puppet who can be used by him and Hishamuddin to carry out their heinous scheme without question. IGP Ismail has no choice. To defy those orders means antagonizing Ta Kin Yan who Ismail has to 'kow tow' to ensure that his contract as IGP will be further extended on the recommendation of the former.

It is absurd for IGP Ismail Omar to claim that crime has gone down and that public confidence in the police has increased. But the harsh reality i! s that t he public's fear of becoming victims of crimes is prevalent in all strata of society. No streets are safe that more and more house owners are engaging private security guards to protect their lives and property. Robbers are getting more desperate and daring by simply chopping off victims hands or limbs. IGP Ismail Omar owes the public an explanation for deceiving the public with crime figures that are manipulated in order to convince the Government that they have met the NKRA target, when in fact it more than meets the eye.

So much emphasis have been given in meeting the targets under the NKRA but the Royal Malaysia Police role, as defined under the Police Act 1967 to collate and collect intelligence, have been grossly neglected. If crime and the security situation are really under control as so claimed by both Hishamuddin and IGP Ismail, then why the necessity for both Hishamuddin and IGP Ismail to be closely escorted and guarded by the police commandoes brandishing automatic weapons wherever they go? Their acts betrayed the very assurance they give to the public that the country is safe. This is an outright violation of the confidence which they themselves uphold or perhaps are afraid of their own shadows.

Robert Phang's recognition as "Friend of the Police' is an insult to the police force and the country. It is no secret that Robert Phang is a known crook from Sabah. Every senior police officer, both retired and serving, know that Robert Phang has been trying to wrangle himself into the inner circle of senior police officers with the grand design of becoming the middleman between the police and the underworld. His role as middleman is not only confined to the police but also covers companies which were given big tenders for police contracts under the Ministry of Home Affairs. He even succeeded in penetrating the core of the government by managing to get himself appointed as member of the Malaysia Anti-Corruption Comm! ission ( MACC) - making a mockery of the highly respected institution which has always advocated integrity and transparency of the highest order.

However his true colours were soon exposed. His appointment in the MACC was short-lived and he had to relinquish his MACC seat in disgrace after he was implicated in his attempt to bribe the Secretary General of the Ministry of Home Affairs with RM 20,000.00. This bribery was an inducement to the Sec. Gen. of Home Affairs to release the full payment for the contract to install the RM1 billion communication back-bone for the police force using the obsolete APCO 25 Motorola technology. The project was awarded to Master Plan Consulting Sdn Bhd. a company owned by family members of Tan Sri Abd. Aziz Yusof, Chairman of the Election Commission and former Secretary General of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Though on paper the company is owned by Raja Azlina binti Raja Abdul Jalil and Ahmad Firdaus bin Abd. Halim, they are in reality the proxies of Tan Sri Abd. Aziz Yusof and his children. It would be recalled that Master Plan Consulting was awarded a project to set up the police reporting system (PRS) in three phases and also the central intelligence unit (CIU) altogether at a total cost of RM136.8 million. These projects were later sub contracted to Asiasoft (M) Sdn Bhd which is a holding company of Asiasoft (Singapore) Pte Ltd. owned by two Israelis who were former Israeli Air Force officers.

This case gives credence to the fact that Robert Phang represents the PR man for big companies like Motorola and Master Plan Consulting to 'grease' key government people in high positions to expedite payment for projects awarded. It must be a big joke that for a RM1 billion contract the attempted bribery to the Sec. Gen. is a mere RM 20,000.00 while the former Sec. Gen Tan Sri Abd. Aziz Yusof made tens of millions of Ringgit from police projects while in office through his sons' com! pany, Ma ster Plan Consulting. But yet when he retired, ironically he was appointed Chairman of the Election Commission.

BERSIH was right in demanding for Tan Sri Abd. Aziz Yusof to resign from the Election Commission. Obviously he is not a fit and proper person to helm the Commission as his integrity and character are tainted with dishonesty, roguery, meanness and fraud. Robert Phang's jester must be an insult to the highly respected post of the Sec. Gen. of Home Affairs. Just because Tan Sri Abd. Aziz Yusof, being the former Sec. Gen of Affairs can be bought over by Robert Phang, he presumed that Tan Sri Mahmood Adam too could be easily bribed. An investigation into this corrupt act of Robert Phang was initiated by the MACC, but due to his close connection and influence with the big guns the MACC dropped the charges against him. This is the result of selective prosecution (and persecution) practiced by the Attorney General Ghani Patail. Or perhaps Ghani Patail is afraid that Robert Phang would expose all his corrupt acts. Otherwise a lot of beans would have been spilled during the trial and Robert Phang's collaborators exposed.

Earlier Robert Phang had threatened police officers supervising the Motorola project to hurriedly approve and commission the system so that payment to Masterplan can be disbursed immediately. When the police officers refused to commission it as directed by Robert Phang because it was in-operational, they were warned that they would be transferred out. True enough six months later all the police officers supervising the Motorola project were transferred out by IGP Ismail to areas unrelated to their expertise.

Somehow IGP Ismail compelled the other officer to approve and commission the communication system despite not meeting the technical specifications. It is now a white elephant. The MACC should investigate this and bring all those responsible to book. That shows the power that be in! Robert Phang. He is so powerful that he can exert influence and pressure on the IGP. But he is merely a front man for Ta Kin Yan and other corporate bodies who wish to use his 'special service'. For this, ironically he should be given the award 'Enemy of the State'. This is true to the saying 'A fool always finds a greater fool to admire him'. It is beyond comprehension how a greater fool can become IGP?

It was said that the police 205th year celebration this year was ushered in with pomp and splendour held at the Dataran Merdeka Kuala Lumpur on the eve of 25th March 2012. It was inaugurated with a striking display of fireworks. Even the mascot was reportedly made at a cost of RM1.2 million and the celebration altogether totalled RM8 million.

This lavish expenditure for the 'birthday bash' was attributed to the long protracted preparation for the celebration that took two weeks and the rentals of canopies and grand stand that were installed at a cost of about RM3 million. It is public knowledge that neither the Home Ministry nor the Malaysian Treasury would approve or allocate that big sum of budget to fund such an extravagant event especially the wasteful display of fireworks which has zero impact in enhancing police public relations. This begs the question as to how the police can source out a big sum of allocation to support the celebrations.

There are already talks that the police day celebration was sponsored by the underground syndicates initiated by Ta Kin Yan who wants to repay the police force for providing protection to the illegal activities. It has also been said that Ta Kin Yan has supported IGP Ismail to fund the construction of a bangalow house in Shah Alam that costs RM4 million. He is also reported to have alienated a piece of land worth RM1 million near PULAPOL. It is common knowledge that an average government servant, especially an IGP who has served hardly two years, simply can! not affo rd to buy a vacant lot for RM1 million. So the 1% corrupted policeman is IGP Ismail Omar himself.

A fish rots from the head. IGP Ismail Omar should also appear before the Parliament Select Committee to explain how RM20 million of operational funds managed by Special Branch cannot be accounted for. As the money is from public fund, he must provide an explanation whether the cash entrusted to him has been used for wine, women and song or that someone within Special Branch has pocketed them?

Talking about corrupt policeman, there's one that beats them all. The RM20 million cop! That is Ramli Yusoff the former Director of the Commercial Crime Investigation Department of the Royal Malaysia Police who have had a long ambition to become IGP. But his dream was shattered when the MACC charged him, amongst others, for corruption as he failed to justify how he could amass that much of cash and asset as a government servant.

Despite having retired from service his dream of becoming IGP still persists as Anwar Ibrahim, the de facto leader of PKR, had promised Ramli Yusof that should he becomes the Prime Minister, he would appoint Ramli Yusof as IGP. There must be something that Anwar Ibrahim is deeply indebted to Ramli Yusof for him to give that kind of expectation to the latter. It was Ramli Yusof who revealed to Anwar Ibrahim that IGP Tan Sri Rahim Nor was the one who punched him that resulted in the black eye when he was detained at Bukit Aman. But as a matter of fact it was Ramli Yusuf who directed an officer to place a hood on Anwar's head and cheered on Tan Sri Rahim Nor to whack Anwar.

During the black eye incident amongst those present who witnessed it were Yaacob Amin, the former Director of CID and Ramli Yusoff himself who was then the Deputy Director of CID. Rightly Yaacob Amin and Ramli Yusoff should have been charged for abetment along with Tan Sri Rahim Nor for causing hurt to A! nwar Ibr ahim. But since Tan Sri Rahim Nor had admitted full responsibility for causing the hurt, Yaacob Amin and Ramli Yusof got away with it. Had the case gone to a full trial, Yaacob Amin and Ramli Yusof would have been criminally implicated and charged for perjury or concealing the commission of an offence.

Legally speaking the Attorney General can still proceed to charge Yaacob Amin and Ramli Yusoff if he wants to as in crime there is no time bar. But now Ramli Yusof puts up a pretentious display of pathetic personality claiming that he had been victimized by MACC, as otherwise he would be IGP. Becoming IGP he could. But before Ramli Yusof could be IGP he must first re-examine unto himself. If he cannot manage his previous three wives, how could he manage the Police Force of 120,000 men and women? Give it a thought brother.

This is the first time ever in 205 years of its history the Royal Malaysia Police has departed from its tradition to observe an official parade to commemorate its Police Day celebration which is normally held at the police training centre in Jalan Semarak Kuala Lumpur - a nostalgic place where police officers were groomed to be law enforcers. Soon this iconic landmark will be obliterated from the history of the police as every inch of the training centre has now been sold and privatised to MKland for commercial development.

In the past there have been many developers who were eyeing for this remaining piece of gold mine in the heart of the city. But previous Ministers of Home Affairs cum Prime Ministers had strongly resisted and objected to any move by the private sector to alienate the land out of recognition for the contribution and sacrifices made by members of the police force in defending the country.

This is the place where national heroes and warriors were trained to bite the dust in fighting the communist terrorists and crimes resulting in some of them left la! me and c rippled. But this has now changed after Najib Razak took over the Premiership with RM (Rosmah Mansor) acting as his Senior Prime Minister. RM50 million was reportedly paid to RM upfront as a guarantee that that PULAPOL will be sold to MKland.

Similar to the privatization of the Air Force Base, Sg. Besi, by 1MD, RM was instrumental in getting the deal through. So if a task is seemingly impossible to resolve, get RM ($ $ $ $ $ ). She knows what to do, otherwise she could not have afford a RM70 million diamond ring specially ordered from the United States.

These are all corruption in its refined form and MACC hands are tied and always come out with the excuse that there is lack of evidence to charge. IGP Ismail seems helpless and gutless to resist or prevent the 'rape of PULAPOL' by these unscrupulous people who are only interested in enriching themselves without regard for the patriotic sacrifices of the men in blue.

IGP Ismail also seems to have lost control of the police force. He has created policies which has undermined the morale of the junior police officers. Many of the junior officers are currently unhappy and demoralised by IGP Ismail's policy to allow direct intake to the rank of Sergeant from amongst ex-servicemen thus depriving about one hundred serving police Corporals who rightly deserved to be promoted. It is likened to the Malay proverb 'Kera dihutan disusukan, anak sendiri mati kelaparan'. Literally translated it means you feed the monkeys from the jungle, whilst your own child dies of hunger. O warriors of the police force, it is your duty to the country to rise against all these misdeeds. May the force be with you all. The future is in your hands. By outward show let not be cheated. An ass should like an ass be treated.

Talking about an ass, IGP Ismail should have realized that he too had promoted some asses to become Police Chiefs. As expected the Chi! ef Poli ce Officer of Perak, DCP Shukri Dahlan had betrayed the trust that had been given to him. They say that a character is simply a habit long continued.

When he was the Chief Police Officer of Terengganu he had an illicit affair with his junior woman police officers whom he treated them as his 'dayang' – ladies in waiting-to entertain him after office hours. He was cautioned off to behave as expected of him holding high position. On his transfer to Perak as the Police Chief he continued with his dirty habit of exploiting junior women police officers for sexual favours.

But on 11 April 2012 he was unlucky when he was caught for 'khalwat' (close proximity) with a woman Inspector in a hotel room in Cameron Highlands, Pahang by enforcement officers of the Islamic Religious Department Pahang. The woman officer works as a staff officer with DCP Shukri Dahlan at the State Police Headquarters, Ipoh, Perak - familiarity breeds contempt. This is typical of the Malay proverb 'Haruan makan anak'. Literally translated it means a catfish that eats his own kind but yet he is given the trust to lead and command four thousand men and women under him.  What a joke.

Before IGP Ismail Omar could even overcome the moral issues affecting his CPO, another petition has already surfaced involving the CPO of Kedah, DCP Ahmad Ibrahim who is alleged to have extra marital affairs with the wife of another police officer. If the IGP is corrupt, his CPOs is morally corrupt. So don't blame the public if they don't have trust in the police force to not only suppress crime, but also to protect your wives, daughters, grand daughters or for that matter your grandmother.

PDRM - Suatu Bahan Lucu Dan Impian Seorang Hamba Menjadi KPN

The RM20 million cop!

Itulah PDRM kini.

Of PTPTN and Dreams (With BM Translation)

Johan

"I am an average student, in an average family, of average income;
 To a regular school I went, for a world class education I'm told;
Average results I got, sufficient for a world class degree they say;
 Offers come in the mail, accredited university colleges they claim;
No money no problem, PTPTN would pay;

 Future assured, job in waiting, repaying PTPTN no problem;
Study I did, average I don't know, sufficient to yield;
 Results I got, degree in hand, family & I happy as can be.

6 months pass, a year done, jobs are none;
 2nd year moving, take work that come, income there is, expenses are more;
Interviews I attend, foreign graduates taken;
 Positions are few, local employers are squeezed, foreign employers are scarce;
Productivity and results required, training unproductive, high income a dream;
 Menial jobs I'll take, overqualified they say, foreign workers selected;
Entrepreneurship I'm left, skills I'm lost, desire I have, energy is gone;
 Unable to cope, PTPTN is due.

Oh where is the promised land? Where is the sanctuary?
 Was I deceived? Was this my choice?
Real life is tough, average is ignored, excellence is jobbed and finds reward;
 My training mediocre, excellence unknown, my efforts unappreciated;
Degree not chased, PTPTN need not qualify, all is given, not my true choice;
 Wrongly nurtured, unable to reverse, unable to blame, back to me, fingers pointed;
A comedy I'm made, a debt instrument I've been, by leaders I trust?
 To repay I wish, honour I must, but the dream remains ..."

Berkenaan PTPTN dan Impian

Berkenaan PTPTN dan Impian

"Ku seorang sederhana, dalam keluarga sederhana, dengan pendapatan sederhana;
 Ke sekolah biasa ku pergi, bagi pendidikan taraf antarabangsa ku dibagitahu;
Keputusan ku sederhana, cukup bagi sarjana taraf anatarabangsa mereka kata;
 Tawaran diterima di peti pos, universiti kolej terlayak dinyata;
Takda wang, takda masaalah, PTPTN akan bayar;
 Masa depan terjamin, pekerjaan mununggu, membayar balik PTPTN tiada masaalah;
Ku memang belajar,sederhana ku tak tahu, cukuplah untuk berhasil;

6 bulan terlepas, setahun terhabis, pekerjaan tiada;
 Tahun ke2 berjalan, apa jua kerja diambil, pendapatan ada, perbelanjaan berlebihan;
Temuduga ku hadir, mahasiswa luar nagara diambil;
 Jawatan kurang, majikan tempatan tertekan, majikan asing segelintir;
Produktiviti dan keputusan perlu, latihan ku berkurangan, pendapatan tinggi satu impian;
 Pekerjaan rendah ku sanggup, kelayakan terlalu tinggi dikata, pekerja asing dipilih;
Berniagalah ku terpaksa, kemahiran ku tiada, keinginan ku ada, tenaga tertakda;
 Tak tertahan ku menyara, PTPTN kena dibayar.

Oh! di mana hidup yang dijanji? Di mana kesejahteraan?
 Adakah ku dipelawa? Adakah ini pilihan saya?
Hidup memang susah, kesederhanaan diketepikan, kecemerlangan digaji dan dapat lumayan;
 Latihan ku rendah, kecemerlangan tidak diketahui, usaha ku tidak disanjungi;
Sarjana tidak dikejar, PTPTN tak payah layak, semua diberi, bukan pilihan ku sejati;
 Dibimbing salah, tak dapat disemulakan, tak boleh menyalahi, kepada ku, jari menunjuk;
Komidi ku dibuat, dana hutang ku dijadi, oleh kepimpinan ku percaya?
 Membayar balik ku ingin, mulia ku mesti, tapi impian berterusan ..."

Dakwaan DAP: Exco Umno mengakui anak terlibat

Parlimen Bukit Katil dimenangi wakil Umno, Datuk Md Sirat Abu. Tetapi  kerusi negeri Bukit Baru diwakili Ketua Menteri Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam.

Pendedahan Adun Ayer Keroh Khoo Poay Thiong, turut disertakan dengan tayangan video.

'Jual tanah masjid'

"Orang kampung saya sendiri, dakwa saya jual tanah masjid," katanya lagi.

Timbalan Pesuruhjaya PAS negeri, Kamaruddin Sidek pula menegaskan Umno mahu memindahkan pengundi mahasiswa UTEM kerana bimbang pengaruh pembangkang di Parlimen Bukit KatI.

Occupy Dataran: Fahmi Reza bebas

Kenyataan Media 23 April 2012. 5 hari menjelang BERSIH 3.0

Kenyataan Media

23 April 2012.

5 hari menjelang BERSIH 3.0 : fokus Dataran Merdeka, Aziz harus letak jawatan

28 April 2012, 2 petang, Dataran Merdeka ...........

Sekian.

DBKL KENA PULAS TELINGA

'On April 28, show DBKL we are their boss'

YOURSAY 'Umno has more tentacles than an octopus. When one arm lets you pass, the other arm will stop you.'

DBKL says no to Bersih rally at Dataran Merdeka

your sayQuigonbond: The most important thing is Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein is not sending his FRUs (riot police).

Really, there does not have to be a gathering on the field itself. There can be a massive gathering around Dataran Merdeka.

Such a spectacle taken from air and splashed over international media - a sea of yellow with a patch of green in the middle - will go to show that once again, BN gives in to fear, instead of putting the supposed political reform where its mouth is.

Changeagent: Not a national-level event? What kind of rubbish excuse is this?

Even Jackie Chan had an approved permit to block out Dataran Merdeka in 1992 when he filmed Police Story 3 here. Is a gathering of a hundred thousand patriotic Malaysians across all different races, religions and creed less 'national' than one Hong Kong-produced action movie?

I really think that all right-thinking Malaysians deserve a better explanation from the DBKL (Kuala Lumpur City Hall).

Disbeliever: This is no bi! g deal. The rejection is expected. We will go on with the Bersih 3.0 sit-in and see what the authorities will resort to this time round.

Is history going to repeat itself? Get the international media to monitor April 28 so that the world knows what's happening.

Freemsia: Isn't asking for free and fair elections of national interest? Or does DBKL mean that Dataran Merdeka can only be used for Umno interests only?

H W Loh: The rakyat are the boss. DBKL is the employee of the rakyat. The rakyat have every right to use Dataran Merdeka.

Chritopher Loi: For DBKL's information, Bersih 3.0 is a national event. Indeed, it is actually even bigger - it is a global event.

Stop giving excuses as you do not own the place. You are only a caretaker. And for who does DBKL take care of Dataran for? That's right, the people!

Anonymous #32993250: Dataran Merdeka is the property of every KLite and not DBKL's personal property.

If the people of KL want to have a party, then they have the right to do so as they are the ratepayers.

Mayors are merely government servants hired to oversee what the Kuala Lumpur residents want. Please do not overstep your duty, mayor.

Kopi O: For DBKL to say only 'national events such as celebrations' can be held at Dataran Merdeka simply means, "Only BN can use it. The rest of you get lost!"

Mamakthiew Mamad: This country is getting more crappy, especially with the Election Offences Bill being passed yesterday, which could mean that if I were a phantom voter, I could walk past all the election watchdogs and cast my vote. This is horrendous!

Paul Warren: Whoever said that Bersih 3.0 is not a national event? People are coming from all over Malaysia to witness and participate in this event.

No other event organised by anyone can exude as much in the collective spirit of Malaysianness as this.

Maybe that is it. DBKL is jealous that ever since Merdeka on the night of Aug 30! , 1957, this square has never been able to get to showcase that Malaysian spirit.

Maybe we should show this DBKL who is boss. Let KLites not pay them the second half year's tax assessments.

Lover Boy: Datuk Bandar, do not forget your salary and all your DBKL staff are paid by the rakyat's money. Who are you to tell us that we cannot go and do what is our right?

2cts Worth: Umno has more tentacles than an octopus. When one arm lets you pass, the other arm will stop you.

I wouldn't be surprised if the gardener at Dataran will refuse the gathering even if DBKL allows it later on appeal.

We are dealing with Umno leaders who have forgotten they were elected by us. To jog their memory, we shall reject them this GE.

Fair&Just: BN is afraid that they will lose badly in the GE when there is a clean and fair election, since their bitter experience in the 308 election when Pakatan Rakyat won five states despite an election subjected to all sorts of charges of cheating, bribery, vote buying, phantom voters, changes of ballot boxes in Sabah and Sarawak, dubious postal votes, voters manipulation, etc.

Armageddon: Everybody thinks that they own something. DBKL thinks that they own the Dataran and BN thinks that they own Putrajaya.

So free and fair elections not 'national interest' -MK
