shame on you bad cops (pt.2)

I'll vote for that government who can guarantee me that the streets are safe where I can drive my car and stop at traffic lights and no one will smash my windows to grab anything from me ! I'll vote for that government who can assure me that I can leave my house unlocked and no one will walk in and ransack my it. I'll vote for that government who can guarantee that a policeman is doing his job patrolling the streets and not hiding around bends to stop me and "extort" me for not wearing a seat-belt.

Heck, I could go on and on and on but tell me honestly.....when was the last time you actually saw a cop chasing a snatch thief much less see a cop anywhere near a robbery ? I have heard about snatch thieves being beaten to a pulp by passer-bys before handing over to the cops and that's real street justice if you ask me but our boys-in-blue right are now too busy
"implementing" the latest Road Department ruling on "back-passengers buckling-up" then catching "mat-rempit" snatch thieves. And these scum-bags, who most times are in twos on motorbikes, are so farking daring in their bold activities that they'll put our cops to shame at the lightning speed they get-a-way ! Reading reference at "hot hot chicken shit"

I have nothing nice to say of these government servants who are supposed to be our guardians and our neighborhoods. Of course you'll say there are some good guys in the forces too.... but damn, who gives a rat's ass for such talk ? Everyday hundreds of snatch thefts happen and only a fraction gets reported and nobody gets caught, so ?? Every month these cops collect their pay shamelessly without flinching that they did not earn that money for their integrity or honesty but had sat on their asses the entire month doing NOTHING !! Don't they have any dignity in carrying out their duty and jobs ?

And all this rot is because our police have forgotten who their
"real" masters are....we the tax-paying rakyat ! I must blame this shit on nearly 50 years of BN rule and the arm-twisting and "held-at ransom" tactics from the time of that old, senile and thoroughly corrupted Tun. I did write in my earlier post "shame on you bad cops"....about what I think of them.

I find it so easy to believe the police never cared why they joined the forces for. Maybe it was for the
"perks and favours" they get when stopping foreign workers by road sides to check for their passports or to hide behind bushes to spot motorists on the cell phone or without safety belts. That is the impression I have of our overnment servants in blue....and surely many out there agree with me but are too ashamed to admit it.

So going by this shit in our neighborhood alone ,I say ABU....anything but UMNO ! Yes, once UMNO is thrown out of Putrajaya, then maybe.....just may! be, thes e servants-in-blue will learn to serve the people who pay for their food, their holidays, their kids' education and the cloth on their back.

Until then I'll keep my options on
"who to vote" closed and patiently wait for....ABU !

Silly Jokes Sunday

When An Insect Falls Into A Mug Of Beer...

Englishman - Throws his mug away and walks out.

Scotsman - Takes the insect out and drinks the beer.

American - Threatens to sue the pub. Gets an extra beer on the house. Then he takes the insect out and drinks both beers. Later he writes a bestselling book: "Who Says There Ain't No Such Thing As A Free Beer?")

Singaporean - Observes the American and apes him.

Italian - Calls the waiter over and knees him in the groin. The worried manager agrees to serve him 5 free beers a day if he will just drink them peacefully and stop molesting the barmaid.

Chinese - Eats the insect and throws the beer away.

Indian - Sells beer to the American and insect to the Chinese and gets a new mug of beer.

Pakistani - Accuses the Indian of throwing an insect into his beer. Relates the issue to Kashmir. Asks the Chinese for military aid. Takes a loan from the American to buy one more mug of beer.

Malay - Considers himself under arrest and meekly follows the insect back to the Religious Affairs Department where he pays a hefty fine for consuming the forbidden Al-Kohol.

I'm Lost!

An American and his wife were driving in Canada and got lost. Finally they came into some city. They saw a gentleman on the sidewalk, so the gentleman pulled up to the curb, and the lady let down her window and asked: "Excuse me, sir. Where are we?"

The gentleman on the street replied, "Saskatoon, Saskatchewan."

The lady rolled up the window, turned to her husband and said, "We really are lost. They don't even speak English here!"

POWERS OF OBSERVATION

An autopsy professor was giving an introductory lecture to a class of students. Standing over a corpse, he addressed the class. "There are two things you need to make a career in medical forensics. First, you must have no fear." Having said that, he shoved his finger up the corpse's anus and licked it. "Now you must do the same," he told the class.

After a couple of minutes of uneasy silence, the class did as instructed.

"Second," the professor continued, "you must have an acute sense of observation. For instance, how many of you noticed that I put my middle finger up this man's anus, but licked my index finger?"

Sherlock Holmes and Mr. Watson went on a camping trip. After a good meal and a bottle of wine they lay down in their tent for the night and went to sleep. Some hours later, Holmes awoke and nudged his faithful friend awake. "Watson, look up at the sky and tell me what you see."

Watson replied, "I see millions and millions of stars."

"What does that tell you?" Holmes questioned.

Watson pondered for a minute. "Astronomically, it tells me that there are millions of galaxies and potentially billions of planets. Astrologically, I observe Saturn is in Leo. Logically, I deduce that the time is approximately a quarter past three. Theologically, I can see that God is all-powerful and that we are small and insignificant. Meteorologically, I suspect that we will have a beautiful day tomorrow."

"Is that all?" Holmes asked.

"Yes," Watson replied, "Why, am I missing something?"

Holmes was quiet for a moment, then spoke:

"Watson, you dickhead. Someone has stolen the fucking tent."

ASIAN JOKE

An Asian man walked into the currency exchange in New York with 2000 yen and walked out with $ 72.

The following week he walked in with 2000 yen and was handed $ 66. He asked the teller why he got less money than he received the previous week.

The lady answers, "Fluctuations."

The Asian man stormed out and, just before slamming the door, he turned around and said, "Fluc you Amelicans too!"

KERMIT AT THE BANK

A frog goes into a bank and approaches the teller. He can see from her nameplate that her name is Patricia Whack. So he says,"Ms Whack, I'd like to get a loan to buy a boat and go on a long vacation."

Patti looks at the frog in disbelief and asks how much he wants to borrow. The frog says $ 30,000. The teller asks his name and the frog says that his name is Kermit Jagger and that it's OK, he knows the bank manager.

Patti explains that $ 30,000 is a substantial amount of money and that he will need to secure some collateral against the loan. She asks if he has anything he can use as collateral.

The frog says, "Sure. I have this," and produces a tiny pink porcelain elephant, about half an inch tall. Bright pink and perfectly formed.

Very confused, Patti explains that she'll have to consult with the manager and disappears into a back office. She finds the manager and says: "There's a frog called Kermit Jagger out there who claims to know you and wants to borrow $ 30,000. And he wants to use this as collateral."

She holds up the tiny pink elephant. "I mean, what the heck is this?"

The bank manager looks back at her and says:

"It's a knick knack, Patti Whack. Give the frog a loan. His old man's a Rolling Stone."

Little Trek To Sonning

It took us a while to find the Thames footpath. We had to walk through some fields and wander about.

But we found it, muddy though it was, as could be expected for this time of the year.

The sights were beautiful though. The river flowed calmly, in no particular hurry, as it had been doing for the past thousands of years.

It was cold and crisp, but there were a few people out on their canoes. It goes to show that the cold is only in the mind!

The boathouse wasn't teeming with people though. It's not the most popular activity for December.

And nestled in this enclave in the town of Sonning. This is merely one house. There are plenty more.
How ever, do note that there are no fast food outlets or news stands available. These people truly defend their privacy.

Just the basics, Pakatan — Ali Kadir

JAN 15 — Does Malaysia need new ideas or a new vision or reinvention? I pose this question after reading a report in The Malaysian Insider today which summed up the Pakatan Rakyat convention in Kedah and the writer suggested that the Opposition need freshening up.

More than anything else Malaysia needs a recalibration of doing things the right way, of following processes, of tackling corruption seriously, of rehabilitating the hollow institutions, of making sure that the rule of law applies to prince and pauper, of not sacrificing racial harmony because of political expediency, of rehauling government procurement, of respecting the rights of states, of upholding the sanctity of the Federal Constitution, of not treating non-Malays/Muslims as enemies of the state.

In my humble opinion, if Pakatan Rakyat really wants the support of Malaysians, they should specify in some detail their plans to address the abovementioned. There is a tendency for us to call for new ideas, new approach and new vision.

But we have had all that and more over the last few decades, beginning with the self-proclaimed visionary, Dr Mahathir Mohamad. Following that was Abdullah Badawi with his own vision and now we have Najib Razak.

But what has been forgotten by all the PM's, spin doctors is integrity, honesty and nurturing and preserving the soul of this country. It is not about building 100-storey towers or mega projects.

It is about reclaiming Malaysia for the people who matter, its citizens. For far too long, the ruling elite have torn and twisted the psyche of Malaysia for their own benefit.

Yes, Pakatan Rakyat please sort out the knots that remain in your alliance. But we don't need another booklet or another vision.

Malaysians want a commitment to doing things the right way, of putting public interest over narrow interest. And if Pakatan Rakyat you do come to power and muck around with the mandate, then you too will be shown the door.

For at the core of any democracy is respecting the will of the voter.

* Ali Kadir reads The Malaysian Insider.

* This is the personal opinion of the writer or publication. The Malaysian Insider does not endorse the view unless specified.

Penyenaraian FGVH bela kebajikan peneroka

Kit Siang predicts Shahrizat will not return...

NONE
Now that Umno Wanita chief Shahrizat Abdul Jalil has gone on a three weeks sabbatical, veteran opposition lawmaker Lim Kit Siang said Malaysians should not expect her to come back.

In a statement today, Lim said that although Shahrizat was supposed to have done so voluntarily in view of police investigations on the National Feedlot Corporation (NFC) fiasco, he believes that she was pressured to do so.

"Nobody expects Shahrizat to return to the cabinet or Parliament after the expiry of her three-week leave expiring on Feb 3, 2012," he said.

Lim said this in view of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's claim that he had held discussions with Shahrizat on the matter.

"I've discussed with her the decision to take leave. It is an appropriate decision as it allows the authority to carry out a thorough investigation," Najib was quoted as saying yesterday.

This, said Lim, meant that Shahrizat had managed to resisted investigations into her alleged role in the scandal, which broke out following the publication of the Auditor-General's Report 2010 last year.

Meanwhile, Lim also urged the government for the establishment of an independent public inquiry into the NFC scand al which must also encompass the roles played by Muhyiddin Yassin and Noh Om! ar as fo rmer and current agriculture minister.

Lim said that the freezing of NFC's assets pending investigations by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and the police was inadequate without a full inquiry.

Commenting on Najib's announcement yesterday, Lim said it was unacceptable for the premier to ask Muhyiddin and Noh to reso lve the NFC mess.

"This is totally unacceptable as Muhyiddin and Nor Omar are among the Ministers, one being Agriculture Minister at the time of the approval of the RM300 million NFC project and the latter as the current Minister in charge of the project, who owe the Malaysian public a fully accounting of why they had allowed the NFC scandal to reach such a disgraceful proportion under their charge," said Lim.

Lim also asked if Najib was prepared to establish a royal commission of inquiry and declassifying relevant cabinet documents for a public inquiry.

All sound and fury but no substance

ALOR SETAR: The third Pakatan Rakyat convention which ended yesterday saw a resurgent Anwar Ibrahim envisioning a "Malaysian Spring" sweeping through the country, where the politics of conscience, and not self-preservation, will be the order of the day.

Speaking at the Sultan Abdul Halim Stadium here, he said that Malaysian leaders must follow their conscience and do what is right and not for personal glory.

"I envisioned a Malaysian Spring dawning," Anwar said in a veiled reference to last year's Arab Spring movement which saw a few long-serving Middle East regimes falling by the wayside in the face of widespread anger of ordinary Arab citizens.

A "Malaysian Spring" has been his most often used line since his acquittal of a sodomy charge last Monday.

Earlier, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng, in a typically fiery speech to the delegates, called for the removal of the corrupt Barisan Nasional (BN) government.

His father, DAP doyen Lim Kit Siang also spoke about a Malaysian Spring, saying the time has come to finally dethrone the ruling Barisan Nasional after decades of abuse of power.

PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang and spiritual adviser Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat spoke about how Islam can bring about justice and prosperity in Malaysia.

A frail-looking Nik Aziz said tongue in cheek about Umno's overtures to form a Malay unity government with PAS: "I know who you (Umno) are."

Same 'old record'

These are the few words of English that the cleric uttered in public, although those in his inner circle claimed he is quite proficient in the language, as he does read English newspapers in the private comforts of his office and home.

Then there were the second-echelon Pakatan Rakyat leaders, namely Kuala Selangor MP Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad, PKR deputy president Azmin Ali, DAP Youth head Anthony Loke, Kelantan executive councillor Husam Musa who spoke about what Pakatan would do when in power.

Dzulkefly tocuhed on the practicality and usefulness of the "Orange Book," which spells out Pakatan's pledges for the next general election.

About 50,000 people thronged the stadium to hear sound and fury from the speakers. But for some it was like listening to the same "old record".

However, PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail saw the gathering as a chance to woo fence-sitters in preparation for the next national polls.

For some observers and delegates, this one-day convention turned out to be a non-starter, simply because there was nothing of substance to indicate that the Pakatan alliance is ready.

Some delegates expressed the hope that the convention would be the rallying point for Pakatan to galvanise its troops for the "mother of all general elections".

But they were quite disappointed when they heard the speakers spout only stale topics.

Most of the delegates were seen just going through the paces, with some preferring to walk around and pose for photographs rather than listen to the speeches.

Lacking in substance

Only former Bar Council president S Ambiga caught the attention of the press as she challenged Pakatan to come out with ways on how to deal with corruption effectively.

Later, Ambiga told the press that the Election Commission was not doing enough on electoral reforms.

She proposed that foreign observers be invited to monitor the election's proceedings.

Pakatan seems to be lacking in substance as it does have any idea on how to take the alliance forward, said part-time blogger Ahmad Noordin, who blogs about social issues.

There is no denying that Pakatan has a strong support base, but still it must reach out to the fence- sitters including the older generation, who have yet to embrace the young leaders, he said.

A DAP Malay leader said the core issue is about turning into reality the well-meaning intentions or policies of Pakatan.

"We fail to implement our great ideas or policies upfront," he said..

However, he believes that Pakatan can deny the BN its two-thirds majority and may go on to form the next government.

But not everybody has the perseverance like Anwar or DAP chairman Karpal Singh to soldier on, he added.

An observer, Jusof Mohd Hafiz, a teacher, said that he expected to hear new ideas on how to combat the high cost of living but instead, he was presented with a summary of Pakatan's past achievements.

"We are more interested in the present and the future," he said.

Forum: Institutionalized Racism in Malaysia

Public Forum on Institutionalized Racism in Malaysia by HINDRAF and KL Chinese Assembly Hall Civil Rights Committee

Date: 17 January 2012
Time: 7.30 pm
Venue: KL Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall

The speakers are:
1) Mr.N.Ganesan - National Advisor to Hindraf
2) Dr. Kua Kia Soong - Director Suaram
3) Assoc. Prof. Dr. Azmi Sharom - Law Lecturer and Activist

Chaired by: Dr Lim Teck Ghee - Director, Centre for Policy Initiatives

Racism in Malaysia is developing into a subtle, pervasive and increasingly aggressive form of racism.

What started as a defensive affirmative action program is now fast degenerating into an aggressive form of institutionalized racism. This is sapping the potential of Malaysian society. The future on this trajectory is disastrous for all Malaysians. It will bring ruin to all of us.

The political, legal and administrative structures of our country – the anchors and sources of this institutionalization need to be fundamentally revamped. For this to happen, the public view of what is truly happening must become sharper. This is not an easy task - given the resources at hand for the beneficiaries of this racist system.

Public opinion must first be aligned with this developing reality, before any change can happen. With the kaleidoscope with which we all view Malaysia the perceived reality now, is not disturbing enough to galvanize people to action. This needs to be addressed.

HINDRAF and the Civil Rights Committee (CRC) of the KL & Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall are taking upon themselves to educate the public to address the needed paradigm shift . Together we embark on the first of a series of fora to highlight and educate about the structures and processes that entrench racism into our system, the impact to the nation and to the future of the nation if this is all left unchecked. And also to inform of some early stage activities in this respect.

This is the first time th! is topic is being broached in a public forum. We wish to push this topic into the foreground of political discourse in our country. – in its barest from. This is part of the campaign of HINDRAF and CRC to bring an end to racism in the country. We have been browbeaten to accept the status quo of this racist regime – but it only continues to reduce us as a people and as a nation. It is time we stood up and said no to institutional racism and begin the process of change.

We have an interesting evening planned at the forum. We invite all concerned Malaysians to attend this forum. At the forum besides what the panel of speakers plan to share, we also look forward to tapping the wisdom of the participants in the form of thoughts about attaining a racism free Malaysia.

Solidariti ekonomi penawar kemelut

by Zairil Khir Johari
The Malaysian Insider
Jan 15, 2012

Jurang pendapatan pula semakin meluas.

Where’s the beef – Stampede! (Part XII)

  • The PM announced yesterday that the NFC asset has been frozen. Hours before that Shahrizat went on leave. I am sure many can put the pieces together. The investigation has been completed. Prof Salleh who is under a lot of pressure has been making a lot of wrong moves. Today NFC is beyond salvage. It is a political disaster. NFC is a BN liability. The DPM who is the former MOA minister is answerable. Shahrizat who is the wife of the cattle farmer had to be burned. In my assessment the NFC leaked was done on purpose. PKR was fed with the bullets. The intended target was not Shahrizat unfortunately in war there are collateral damages. The country has lost one capable minister.
  • Unfortunately, our PM biggest weakness is his inability to act fast enough. He is moving like a sloth. His failure is giving room to PR to further exploit the issues. It is sending a message that that UMNO-BN is protecting their fold when it comes to issues related to corruption and abuse of power. From Dec 2009, I have said that NFC will fail and indeed it has failed. The underlying cause of the failure is because the lack of independence of the government agencies that is involved in the project. They could not challenge their political masters. They gave money to an academician with zero background in cattle ranching. They failed to monitor and failed to ensure money that has been released was used for intended purposes. For that they should also shoulder the blame. In my opinion Najib deserves an F for his slow reaction in handling the case. Najib failed to capitalize an opportunity to show his firmness in addressing inefficiencies and power and position abuse.
  • The PM has instructed the DPM and Dato' Noh to look on what can be done with NFC. I don't know what the government plans are but I expect NFC to payback the loan with interest immediately. This must be made public. The government needs to revisit their objectives again and revised their plan on how to meet the agenda of reducing meat import. Let the company decides on how and what it wants to do with the beef valley. The original objectives are good and achievable. The only thing wrong with it is the way it is done. I believe I can do it and willing to take the challenge with a salary of RM1 per month. In the meantime, I hope Najib will also look into the government investment in the  "prawn farming business" in Pitas, Sungai Telaga and Sungai Padas in Sabah before RR decides to take fly there.

TG. Nik Aziz: Hasan Ali should watch his mouth...

PAS spiritual leader Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat has warned former Selangor PAS commissioner Hasan Ali to be mindful of his words when making statements.

"My advice to him is to watch his mouth, if there are any problems in the party, raise it in meetings - there are proper channels," he said.

pas muktamar 130610 nik abdul aziz 4Weighing on Hasan's sacking in an interview, Nik Abdul Aziz (right) who is also Kelantan Menteri Besar, said it was normal for a party to sack problematic members.

"There is no political party that does not sack its members when problems arise. Even in Kelantan, Umno has sacked two to three of its members," he said.

Nik Abdul Aziz said as a result of Hasan's move to engage Umno-related media, the problems within the party had been amplified and exaggerated.

"I would not say stupid, but going to the press, especially the Umno-owned press which magnified the problem was not smart."

Noting that some PAS members had turned up at Hasan's resid! ence to support him shorlty after the sacking, Nik Abdul Aziz reminded them that their actions were being observed by party members.

"That is up to them, I cannot comment, but obviously there are people who are looking...he is matured enough to know the rules," he said in reference to former PAS deputy president Nasharuddin Mat Isa who was among those at Hasan's residence.

'Up to Hasan'

Nik Abdul Aziz said it was up to Hasan to decide whether he would appeal the decision or not.

"It is his wish, but we will give him the opportunity to appeal then we will see how the situation develops," he said.

Last week, PAS surprised party members when its president Abdul Hadi Awang announced Hasan's sacking.

dr haron din pasThis was despite an apology by Hasan for his criticism of the party's welfare state agenda.

However, Hasan who is also Selangor exco in charge of Islamic affairs has attributed his sacking for refusing to support opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim and describing the latter's sodomy trial as a personal affair.

PAS deputy spiritual leader Haron Din (left), the No 2 in the syura council which is the highest decision making body in the party, has urged Hasan to appeal the decision.

The Syura Council is l! ed by Ni k Abdul Aziz which is expected to call both Hasan and the party's central committee members who decided the sacking if an appeal is filed.

Meanwhile, former Selangor PAS commissioner Hasan Ali will not appeal his sacking from the party despite calls from his supporters to do so. He revealed this last night at a dialogue session on Muslim faith organised by anti-apostasy group Himpun, according to a Sinar Harian report today. Hasan was quoted as saying that he had no regrets as he felt PAS had betrayed its cause.

"I cannot, my conscious will not allow me to (stay in the party). I do not see why I should remain in the party," he was quoted as saying.

He also accused PAS in Selangor of impeding his efforts to defend the faith of Muslims.

"I cannot do this while in the party because my party comrades and certain parasitic groups do not like the issue of alcohol and apostasy to be championed because they want to win support.

"I am willing to be dropped as exco and forfeit all benefits. Even though I am comfortable in the position, I am abandoning it to save myself, my children, family, and Muslims," he was reported as saying.

Hasan: I'm not alone

Hasan who is exco in charge of Islamic affairs has ruffled feathers in Pakatan Rakyat after he led raids against entertainment outlets in Selangor. He adds that PAS was opposed to his struggle, especially when the leadership criticised him for supporting the Selangor Islamic Religious Departmen! t (Jais) and Selangor Islamic Religious Council (Mais) during a Church raid.

"I am not alone in this matter, soon, there will be a major movement championing the faith of Muslims in the country."

Hasan crossed swords with party leaders after it was revealed that he failed to obtain sufficient nomination to retain his Gombak Setia state seat. Despite apologising for his "excessiveness" against party leaders, the party central committee decided to sack him last Sunday for acting against the party's interest.

However, party president Abdul Hadi Awang had stated that Hasan could appeal to the party's Syura Council.

Think out of the box, Rosmah urges women NGOs

PEKAN: Rosmah Mansor, wife of the prime minister, today urged leaders and members of non-governmental organisations representing women to step out of their comfort zones and be more creative in their activities.

They need to be bold and think out of the box and be prepared to accept new ideas, so that society can appreciate their services, she said.

"Times have changed and we must be aware that the mindset and psychological development of society is very different now.

"For instance, when there's a fire or flood or when there's trouble in another country, the members of our organisations are there to lend a helping hand.

"After a while, people will realise our presence among them," she said at a gathering of associations and NGOs, here. Also present was Pekan Women's Institute chairman Melati Ali.

Rosmah said NGOs need to be wise in using existing channels such as the relevant government agencies and the mass media to ensure that their activities are implemented smoothly.

She praised the Pekan NGOs for taking the initiative to organise a basic cooking course for adolescents in the town in the effort to resolve the social ills faced by the community.

About 700 members of various NGOs and associations representing women in Pekan attended the gathering.

Sunday funnies

Funny #1

I read in the Sunday papers today that the Sultan of Kelantan has been awarded the Darjah Kerabat Kedah by His Royal Highness the Sultan of Kedah.

Errr....why ah? For what ah? Is the Darjah Kerabat Kedah one of those awards that the royals give to each other just for fun?

Funny #2

First Penang Chief Minister, Lim Guan Eng announces that his people have declared their assets. So as to keep everything transparent and whatnot la.  And now today we read that the Chief Justice has announced that soon all judges will also declare their assets to ensure judicial integrity. Okay...but somehow as a Malaysian I am not really so impressed la. Declare la. But I am waiting for people like the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister, that kind of level, to declare their assets for all to see. That would really be a red letter day in our history.  I think when that day comes we shall all be convinced that all our politicians' wive, children, relatives etc. are ultra-smart entrepreneurs and are all capable of making billions in profits from their business ventures. What you think? Anyway, like one of the comment-ers said, "You think what? We never heard of proxies ah? Niamah!!!"

Funny #3

The prime minister has announced that he has ordered the DPM and the minister of agriculture to find the best solution for the National Feedlot Centre. Best solution for the NFC? I thought we were more interested in finding out where the RM250millions have gone. No ah? Solution for what? The business has failed. Big tim! e. And n ow there is suspicion that its failure might have been due to corruption. Come on guys! PRIORITISE LA, OI!

Funny #4

I came across a tweet from Nurul Izzah today which said that she was somewhere handing out Chinese New Year hampers. And of course over the past week there have been so many stories about politicians handing out goodies all over the country. Some ang pows here, some hampers there and some grants at the other place.

Does this sort of thing happen in other countries? Or is it just our Malaysian way of doing things? And if politicians and governments hand out goodies in the run up to elections doesn't that tell the electorate something suspicious about these politicians and governments?

Same rule, I suppose, applies to visits to your hometown by people like the prime minister. Today I read that Najib went on a walkabout, did some exercise routine and had breakfast with the people of Taiping. Phwaaaar!!!

NIAMAH!!!

Puluhan ribu banjiri Rapat Rakyat Perdana...

Thousands flock to Pakatan confab finale

The third national Pakatan Rakyat convention ended with a high note last night as an estimated 10,000 people flooded the Stadium Sultan Halim, Alor Setar last night for an evening rally. Cars were lined up on the road shoulders on the way to the stadium until as far as 2km away, but this did not deter Pakatan supporters from treating themselves to this rare ensemble of star-studded speakers in Kedah.

pakatan kedah mega ceramah 150112 crowd 7The highlight of the event was the fiery 40-minute speech from opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim, who recently came out victorious in the Sodomy II trial, that went on way past midnight.

Anw ar began his speech by explaining his absence after he was acquitted, stating that he had committed to speaking engagements in India and Turkey.

Many of his supporters in the northern states had expected him to return to his birthplace of Cherok Tok Kun after the High Court had acquitted him on charges of sodomising his former aide.

Anwar: Leave my family out of this

Uncharacteristically, Anwar appealed for his enemies to stop taunting him and his family over the trial, stressing that "enough is enough", reiterating that he was willing to forgive them.

"They have done everything to me, kicked me around and stripped me naked but I am willing to forgive them," he said.

"Leave us alone and please move forward," he stormed, showing signs that he may not tolerate the attacks much longer.

pakatan rakyat kedah stadium 150112Earlier, PAS spiritual leader Nik Aziz Nik Mat surprised journalists and observers when he was bursting with zest during his speech.

Nik Aziz, 81, was looking tired throughout the afternoon convention.

Turning away from politics, Nik Aziz spoke on the need for better understanding among Malaysia's different ethnic groups and emul! ate the Kelantan experience.

"The Chinese (in Kelantan) have even donated to the mosques. When they get any financial aid from the government, they give some of the money away for our cause," said Nik Aziz, who is Kelantan Menteri Besar.

Resolve Hudud law issue

Prior to Nik Aziz, the crowd paid rapt attention to DAP chairperson Karpal Singh as he related his experience as the lead defence counsel during the Sodomy II trial.

Karpal noted the possibility that the Attorney-General may appeal against the acquittal, but stressed that he and his legal team were ready.

As expected, Karpal briefly spoke on DAP's objection to PAS' hudud law ambitions without eliciting a negative response from the mostly Malay-Muslim audience.

"This is still an issue among us. We must talk and try to work it out," he said, stressing that Pakatan must iron out such kinks before the 13th general election.

The stadium rally last night was a massive show of support for Kedah Pakatan, which has been relatively out of the media spotlight as compared to Selangor, Perak and Penang.

But more importantly, Pakatan is attempting to show that it is indeed a united front with viable alternative policie! s in its bid for Putrajaya.

Apa patut dicari pelajar IPT — Mior Kamarul Shahid

— Berita Harian Online
