TG Nik Aziz Mahu BERS✔H 3.0 Digerakkan segera...

WAJIB BACA: Kerajaan Minta Rakyat Pinjam Duit Dari Bank Untuk Melabur SKIM PONZI ?

Pertama sekali SARA 1M bukanlah satu skim pelaburan.

Racial discrimination in Malaysia: Don't believe? Then look at the list ...
FROM THE BLOGS Discrimination of Non-Malays in Malaysia is plain racist. There is a list that is common knowledge to a lot of Malaysians, especially those who are non-Malays (Chinese, Ibans, Kadazans, Orang Asli, Tamils, etc.) and who have been racially discriminated against.
Figures in this list are merely estimates, so please take it as a guide only. The government of Malaysia has the most correct figures. Is government of Malaysia too ashamed to publish their racist acts by publishing racial statistics?
This list covers a period of about 48 years since independence (1957).
List of racial discrimination ( Malaysia ):
(1) Of the five major banks, only one is multi-racial, the rest are controlled by Malays.
(2) 99% of Petronas directors are Malays.

(48) 20 constituencies won by DAP would not get funds from the government to develop. These Chinese majority constituencies would be the last to be developed.
(49) 100 constituencies (parliaments and states) had been racially re-delineated so Chinese votes were diluted for Chinese candida! tes. Thi s is one of the main reasons why DAP candidates have consistently lost in elections since the 1970s. (update to 2008 needed)
(50) Only 3 out of 12 human rights items are ratified by the Malaysian government since 1960.
(51) 0 - elimination of all forms of racial discrimination (UN Human Rights) has not been ratified by Malaysian government since 1960s.

(54) 20 cases every year whereby Chinese drivers who accidentally knocked down Malays were seriously assaulted or killed by Malays.
(55) 12% is what ASB/ASN got per annum while banks fixed deposits are only about 3.5% per annum.
There are hundreds more examples of racial discrimination in Malaysia to add to this list of 'colossal' racism. It is hoped that the victims of racism will write in to help expose this situation.
The Malaysian government should publish statistics showing how much Malays had benefited from the 'special rights' of Malays and at the same time release the statistics which show how minority races are being discriminated against.
Hence, the responsibility lies in the Ma! laysian government itself to publish unadulterated statistics of racial discrimination.
If the Malaysia government hides the statistics above, then there must be some evil doings, immoral doings, shameful doings and sinful doings, like the Nazis, going on with the non-Malays of Malaysia .
Civilized nations, unlike the evil Nazis, must publish statistics to show its treatment of its minority races. This is what Malaysia must publish.
We are asking for the publication of the statistics showing how 'implementation of special rights of Malays' had inflicted colossal racial discrimination onto non-Malays.
Human Book
Do you believe in 1Malaysia after reading this? What is MCA and MIC doing after all these years. No wonder leaders like Samy Vellu and Ling Liong Sik have been accused of corruption and serving their own self interests.
What we need is a Malaysian Nelson Mandela!
What makes us sick are the Malaysian 'white' leaders practising apartied under the nose of the world community and getting away with it. They have the cheek to critisize the White South African regime and yet practise apartied at home. Maybe to camouflage their actions!! Smart? But actually very stupid because they will make Malaysia a failed nation. Not now but later as surely as the sun rises over the horizon! .

Nik Aziz recounts life and death moment

Kelantan Menteri Besar Nik Aziz Nik Mat's presence at the Pakatan Rakyat convention in Kedah today attracted eyeballs in light of talk over the PAS spiritual leader's health.

Despite the speculations, Nik Aziz appeared energetic and nimble-footed as he stood alongside Pakatan leaders on stage during an oath taking ceremony.

Kota Bharu MP Wan Abdul Rahim Wan Abdullah when inviting the "holy man" to speak recalled a tense moment when Nik Aziz (left in photo) was had been admitted into hospital previously.

He said the 81-year-old PAS veteran had related how his heart had stopped beating for a moment.

"Perhaps it was like how the first cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin had described his experience (in space)... How he was pulled down and then his heart started beating again.

"I would say Allah has passed down something big for Nik Aziz to do for the rakyat.

"He has to join us in bringing us to Putrajaya," said Wan Abdul Rahim, leading the audience to chant, "Takbir!"

NONEOnce bitten by Umno...
< br>Taking the podium, Nik Aziz spoke at length about PAS' past experience when it had been "kicked out" by Umno from the BN coalition.

Learning from that experience, Nik Aziz said he has "had enough" of Umno.

"When Umno experienced bright days, it had kicked PAS out. Then now it wants PAS to join Umno again. We say,
cis! (bah!).

"If we are fooled a second time then shame on us... I reflect and say, thankfully we are not with Umno," he said.

Nik Aziz recounted PAS' successes in Kelantan, where people of various faiths lived in harmonious co-existence.

Even a non-Muslim, he said, had donated RM20,000 to a local mosque.

He also related how the state government had given RM2,000 in financial aid to a widow who instead decided to donate the money to another mosque.

Among the other Pakatan leaders who spoke in the convention's wrap up were PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang, DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang, and PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim.

Majoriti setuju kenaikan sewa Kompleks PKNS

Would it kill you to smile? — Phin Wong

JAN 14 — I have a big smile. It's a massive, open-mouth smile, like a freeze-frame of someone laughing a little too hard at a fart joke. "Maniacal" is a word that's been used to describe it by several polite friends. "You high, is it?" is a sentence used by friends with savages for parents. "Smile until crazy like that."

At photo shoots, it's quite common for me to be told to "smile less". I've tried smaller controlled smiles, lips clamped tight with no teeth on display, but I just end up looking like I need more fibre in my diet.

Grins take the few angles I have out of my round face, which results in what looks like a picture of Tom Hanks' Cast Away best friend Wilson in a cardigan. I've also tried that tilted-head smirk you see of celebrities on red carpets but, on me, it just looks slutty. I now reserve that look for inappropriate pictures at serious business events and blessed weddings. ("Yes, Father, it was a beautiful service. Have you been working out?")

What can I say? I'm a smiler. It's why my primary school teachers described me as a "pleasant child" even though I really was more like that kid from The Omen.

Or at least I was a smiler. These days I catch myself stomping about with a permanent frown and a mouth puckered tight like a cat's bum hole.

Perhaps it's because the volume of work I handle is starting to get to me. Perhaps I just need more sleep. Maybe I'm cranky from constantly being on a diet that doesn't make any difference to the fit of my pants. Maybe I'm losing the patience that's necessary to put up with all the unnecessary bull in my life.

Or maybe I'm simply becoming a grumpy old man. (I shook my bag feebly at a congregation of motionless teenage zombies blocking the exit of a movie theatre a few days ago. "Does this look like a designated gathering area to you?" I croaked, but they didn't seem to respond to stimuli. Maybe they were Planking standing up.)

Whatever the reason for the steady erosion of my smile, it is cause for concern. I don't want to be an unhappy person; a stick-in-the-mud unimpressed by spectacular solar eclipses and YouTube videos of cats. I don't want to be Mildred.

I recently met Mildred at a fun night out at the theatre. And when I say I "met Mildred", I mean she was a complete stranger sitting next to me, and Mildred sounds like a name of someone terribly uptight and unhappy.

You know how people say: "Would it kill you to smile?" I think it might actually be true in Mildred's case. Shame on the hardworking cast for doing its darnedest to squeeze a giggle out from her Size 0, designer-bag-toting body. Poor girl must have been hanging on for dear life.

Every joke, spot of physical comedy and ba-dum-bum was met with a look of pained endurance and rigidly crossed arms, while the rest of the audience — oblivious to the cruel actors' continued attempts on Mildred's life — clapped and hooted. At one point, I thought I saw her clapping in my peripheral vision and spun around to perform life-saving CPR. Thankfully, she was just scratching her palm. Poor dear must have been allergic to punchlines, too.

She did smile once. Or she could just have been gasping for air — it was during a particularly fatal bit of hilarity. Her boyfriend seemed to enjoy himself though. But then again, he only gets let out of the dungeon once a year, during the festive season. Sitting next to Mildred, her life hanging delicately in the balance at that laugh-a-minute slaughterhouse of comedy, it occurred to me just how lucky I was to be able to smile — a natural smiler — and not do it as often as I should. "Shame on you," I thought to myself. "It's like having arms and insisting on shaking hands with your feet."

I wish I could donate half of my smile to poor Mildred. But seeing as medical science hasn't caught up to make critical procedures like a smile transplant possible yet, wasting their time on hearts, livers and other trivial things, I'll just have to smile extra hard for her.

Even when fat children with the motor skills of broccoli wobble right into me in a supermarket and their mothers "tsk" me as if it were my fault for standing in front of the deli counter. Or when I'm stuck behind a clueless auntie poking hopelessly at the AXS screen long enough for me to have worked off the debt I was waiting to pay by planting a crop of maize.

I'm going to smile anyway — despite the fact that it takes only 17 muscles to smile and a whopping 43 muscles to frown, therefore making vigorous frowning count as a workout. I'm going to smile as much as I can because, like steak, a smile is a terrible thing to waste.

I suggest you do the same. Just think of poor Mildred. — Today

Najib dilaporkan berkata demikian dua tahun lalu semasa perhimpunan agung Umno.

"Ini bukan kesederhanaan. Jika sederhana, terimalah keputusan rakyat," kata tokoh veteran DAP tersebut.

Beliau turut mencabar Najib menjalankan proses transformasi terhadap akhbar Utusan Malaysia.

An unlikely upset in Taiwan? — Wayne Soon

JAN 14 — Taiwanese voters go to the polls today, in one of the most competitive elections on the island since 2004.

Incumbent President Ma Ying-jeou of the Nationalist Party (KMT) leads by a margin of 3 to 8 per cent in the last major opinion polls permitted before the presidential and legislative elections. These positive numbers for the leader of the pro-China pan-blue camp suggests that Taiwanese are likely to re-elect Ma in a tough fight with his pan-green opponent, the Democratic Progressive Party's (DPP) Tsai Ing-wen.

Unlike in previous elections, when influential Taiwanese businessmen were either divided between the two major parties or kept quiet about their political beliefs, almost all the major ones — such as Terry Gou of Hon Hai Group, Wang Wen-yun of the Formosa Group and Samuel Yin of the Ruentex group — have thrown their support behind Ma.

Critics, including Tsai, have claimed that these businessmen faced pressure to support the KMT because of their heavy investments in mainland China. But Tsai's campaign emphasis on reducing the growing income and wealth gap of Taiwanese has made big businesses wary of a possible anti-business administration.

And even though Ma's 2008 electoral promise of 6 per cent annualised growth, 3 per cent unemployment and US$ 30,000 (RM93,600) gross domestic product per capita for Taiwan has not materialised, he has been rather successful in diverting the attention of voters to his moral leadership.

The pan-blue camp ran ads that emphasised Ma's frugality — with him doing his own mending of his torn swimming trunks — as well as his anti-corruption image, in contrast to the previous scandal-plagued Chen Shui-bian administration. Then there is the legacy of the KMT's long rule in Taiwan, which gives the party its huge edge: The enduring power of the pan-blue media, the ability of wealthy pan-blue supporters to transport some 10,000 like-minded Taiwanese from China to Taiwan to vote, the alleged mobilisation of civil servants and employees in government-linked companies to attend KMT rallies and the depth of the party's wealth and talent.

These reasons, together with the increasing dependence of Taiwan's economy on the mainland, should deliver a victory for Ma. (From January to November 2011, China's exports to Taiwan reached US$ 32.35 billion, up 21.3 per cent on-year, and Taiwan's exports to China US$ 114.19 billion, up 8.6 per cent.)

Having said that, Tsai and the DPP are fighting a more effective and nimble political campaign.

Tsai has sought to neutralise the KMT's wealth by appealing, Obama-style, to small donors on a large scale, in a "three little pigs" campaign where supporters bring their colourful, cash-filled piggy banks to her rallies. Not only has this campaign netted the DPP more than NT$ 200 million (RM20.6 million), the visual spectacle has proved irresistible to the Taiwanese media.

Her rival's tactic of giving out "peace talismans" to the public has so far failed to stoke voters' imagination on a similar scale.

Tsai also tackled well the KMT's insistent allegations of a conflict of interest in a 2007 biotech joint-venture project when she was vice-premier in the Chen administration. Tsai's low-key response may have left some doubts lingering, but her quiet handling of the issue — as well as the DPP's expose of the KMT possibly having fudged documents on the case — helped it die down with little political damage to her.

Finally, Tsai's early strategy of directly engaging the grassroots, through mass rallies and visits to local politicians and markets in the swing region of central Taiwan and the pan-green regions of south Taiwan, has paid dividends.

The DPP appeared confident enough of a good turnout in these two areas that it poured manpower and money into turning traditionally blue areas in North Taiwan green. The KMT's campaign, until quite recently, has been relatively quieter and focused resources on media advertisements, billboards and flags.

Tsai's grassroots approach has touched many voters who continue to grapple with persistent unemployment and stagnant wages, despite the KMT's promises that closer ties with China would improve their lot. Tsai's ability to reflect better voters' concerns helps explain why the DPP is doing far better than it should.

But whether all this will be enough for a DPP upset remains to be seen. Third-party candidate James Soong could yet undermine the growing support for Tsai in north and central Taiwan.

Even if Ma is re-elected on a small margin, the message seems to be that his administration needs to connect better with voters and not simply rely on warming ties with China to resolve Taiwan's domestic challenges. — Today

Titles anyone?

Want to probe issit? You big enough you come la!

It's Saturday and for want of something better to do I thought I'd look for something funny to post here for your weekend entertainment. Found some good ones too. Enjoy!

Funny #1

Did anyone read the front page of The Sun yesterday? On the right hand column the story was titled:

Sharizat takes leave to let MACC probe.

Hahahaha...I had a good laugh when I read that headline. But I think we're taking this love for sex scandals a little bit far already. No ah? :-)  Takes leave to let MACC probe. MACC got big enough...errr...balls or not?

p/s strangely the same story in the online version of The Sun does not carry this headline. I wonder why? Funny what.

It always bemuses me to read about Malaysian royals bestowing awards on their own family or relatives. Like a sultan giving an award to his teenage son. Or some ruler giving a Datuk Sri award to his cousin/sister/uncle/ or to another ruler. Royal or otherwise. What are all these titles and awards for?  I am sure that as a Malaysian you have often asked the questions, "Why?" Or if you're really pissed about it, "WAFFOR?"  Like can you tell me why one sultan bestows another sultan with an award? The baarger already has all those letters of the alphabet behind his name. 6 or 10 more is going to make his name and title take up almost half the page of the official letterhead.

If you're like me you wou! ld proba bly let out a curse whenever you read those congratulatory advertisements in the newspapers taken out for the latest Datuk Sri or Tan Sri or whatever. It would not be so bad if we, the ordinary tax-paying slobs, get to know what these fuckers are being awarded for.  Okay...the fler is a world sports champion. Great. That baarger performed this distinctive service for his community. Wonderful. This latest dato saved a village from the verge of starvation. Or something la. But do we ever get information like that? No! All we read about are these multi-millionaires, contractors, CEOs of MNC's getting awards from this Sultan and that Yang DiPertua etc.  Doesn't it piss you off? Come on! And when you read about beer company directors getting datukships, and car marketing company CEO's getting titles from royalty your mind starts to make up its own mind about corruption and things that aren't so royally kosher. Doesn't it? So can we, as ordinary members of the rakyat ask a favour or our royalty and heads of state? When you give out awards to these people can you also spend some time and money on some press statements to tell us what they are being rewarded for? May not even cost you money. Just spread the word online la because as much as Ng Yen Yen might not agree it actually will cost you nothing. It will make us happier to wake up in the morning and discover that we have another couple of dozen dato's and what-nots in our lob-sided sociey. Can Tuanku?  Thank you.

Pakatan Rakyat shapes up for battle...

pakatan pokok sena ceramah 140112 lim guan eng"I'm not tired," said Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng when told that a student representative during the debate session had complained that it was rather tiring to hear Pakatan Rakyat ranting about taking over Putrajaya.

The student representing GAMIS (Gabungan Mahasiswa/i Islam Se Malaysia) said Pakatan had yet to provide a viable solution to how students can resolve their problems with the student loans, or PTPTN.

"Our condition is even worse than that of prisoners who do enjoy some benefits like free healthcare,"Lim (left) added, when asked during the delegates debate session at Pakatan's 3rd national convention in Alor Setar.

Kelantan exco member Husam Musa later announced that the state government will absorb all students loans undertaken since 2005 once Pakatan takes federal power.

The coalition's top leaders were asked if they have a new slogan instead of recycling their three-year war cry of unseating BN in Putrajaya?

pakatan convention 140112 01Have plans to get there

PAS secretary general Mustafa Ali explained that the coalition does not only talk about seizing Putrajaya from BN's hands but shows how to get there with its plans and policies.

He said the opposition pact cannot avoid talking about Putrajaya as all its proposals and plan point at that sole destination.

"The problem is with the roads... too much traffic, we have to take many turns before arriving there" said PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang, sparking laughter from the reporters at the press conference held after the morning debate session ended at 1pm.

pakatan convention alor setar lim kit siangMeanwhile, Lim clarified that Pakatan's 3rd national convention in Alor Setar was not only to celebrate opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim's freedom from sodomy II charge, but to prepare for the impending polls.

"This is most likely to be the dirtiest election in the country's history," he warned.

He expressed gratitude for the various suggestions and proposals voiced out during the debate to help Pakatan implement the necessary reforms.

"Our theme save and clean up Malaysia is very appropriate. We would definitely face a crisis if Pakatan does not win in the coming election, which must be called by next year.

On Be! rsih chi ef S Ambiga's proposal that Pakatan present an anti-corruption plan to eradicate the disease rampant in many sectors, DAP advisor Lim Kit Siang said the coalition was looking into the suggestion.

He added that Pakatan would probably trot out with a plan before the next general election.

Kelantan mahu hapus hutang PTPTN

Thousands of private college nursing grads jobless — Jeyakumar Devaraj

JAN 14 — The Higher Education Ministry's failure to control the greed of private nursing colleges has established a situation in which thousands of their graduates are jobless. And yet, these graduates are burdened with PTPTN loans of as much as RM50,000 to RM60,000.

Here are the facts:

● 61 private institutions have been given the go-ahead by the Higher Education Ministry to conduct nursing courses;

● there are currently more than 37,500 nursing undergraduates enrolled in these 61 private learning institutions. A large percentage of these undergraduates have acquired the PTPTN loan, normally around RM55,000;

● the total amount of staff nurses employed throughout the country as of December 2010 was 61,110. Of that total, 47,992 were stationed in the government sector and the remainder 21,118 in the private sector;

● in 2010, 7,665 nursing graduates from private institutions sat for the Nursing Board examination. Only 70.1 per cent of them passed the examination compared to the passing rate of 98.4 per cent amongst graduates from Health Ministry colleges.

● Only 42.7 per cent of nursing graduates from private higher education institutions in 2010 succeeded in acquiring jobs at hospitals and clinics

Taking all these facts into account, we wish to know the following:

● Is it the Higher Education Ministry that determines the intake quotas for nursing courses in private educational institutions in Malaysia? If so, what is the rationale for allowing an intake quota of 9,000 undergraduates for the year 2011?

● Is the minister aware that every trained nurse must renew his or her professional licence (APC — Annual Practising Certificate) every year? One of the terms that is required to acquire the APC is an occupational status as a nurse in a hospital. Therefore, if one is unable to get employed as a nurse, he or she is not eligible to renew his or her APC.

● Is the minister aware that the marketability of a staff nurse will be adversely affected if she is unable to get a nursing post in a hospital? This is due to the fact that a nurse's skills will deteriorate if the graduate is not given a chance to practise as a nurse.

● Is the minister aware that a lot of the graduates at nursing private higher education institutions originate from families that are not rich? They are hoping to get a job as a nurse in order to pay back their PTPTN loans and to aid their respective families.

● Is the minister aware that repayment of the PTPTN loan is required even if the graduate is unable to acquire a job as a nurse?

● How many of the 61 private higher education institutions currently offering nursing courses have started or are applying to start medicine courses to train doctors?

Our demands:

● Freeze the intake of new students into private nursing colleges. The market is flooded at this point in time. Do not burden more young girls with PTPTN loans that they will not be able to pay back.

● Look into the other courses that are offered by the private colleges such as physiotherapy, health care, laboratory assistants, and radiology. If there exists a similar situation of over-supply for these other courses as well, please freeze the intake of new students into these courses.

● Reject applications of private higher education institutions to conduct medicine courses if the passing rate in the Nursing Board examination was below 90 per cent for graduates from those institutions in 2010 or 2009.

● Take over the PTPTN debts for all nurse graduates who have not acquired a nursing post in hospitals despite passing the Nursing Board's examination.

● Conduct an investigation to determine why the market for trained nurses is flooded — 37,500 will graduate in three years, whereas the need for nurses is only 1,500 per year (more or less five per cent of the total currently employed in the private sector). Is this because of poor judgment on the part of officials who determine the quota or is corruption involved? The profits of private higher education institutions are immense!

● Review the validity of the policy of relying on private companies to provide higher education for our younger generation. It is evidently clear from the actions of the private nursing colleges that maximising profits is their main focus! The existence of PTPTN loans has underwritten the income of these private higher education institutions, and they are currently competing to attract as many students as possible without a care as to whether they can provide adequate practical exposure to their students or whether there are sufficient job opportunities for their graduates.

We hope that the Higher Education Ministry officials will study the issues that we have brought up and fix a date within a month's time to inform us of the steps that will be taken by the ministry to manage the identified problems in this memorandum. — aliran.com

Najib bidas pembangkang sasar Umno dan BN bila hadapi masalah dalaman

PARIT BUNTAR: Perdana Menteri Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak membidas pembangkang yang gemar menyasarkan Umno dan BN apabila menghadapi masalah dalaman parti mereka.

Beliau berkata perkara itu sering terjadi dan parti pemerintah menjadi sasaran apabila pembangkang menghadapi masalah.

"Soalnya kenapa Umno menjadi sasaran.

"Kalau dia (seseorang) tahu jadi calon (sejak) awal lagi bolehlah buat, kalau tak tau (jadi) calon sukarlah," katanya.

Empty talk on unity — Sam Peh

JAN 14 — Last week, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak spoke at the Royal Selangor Club in Dataran Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur and talked about the historic spot where independence was declared. He waxed lyrical about his father and how the different races were united and how he wanted to bring Malays, Indians, Chinese and others together.

It was a nice fuzzy statement and the audience responded with generous applause. Perhaps he realised that his audience was mainly Indian and Chinese and knew that the togetherness pitch would go down well.

The problem with that pitch of unity and moderation is that it is delivered sparingly and selectively.

If as Najib and his supporters say that he believes in an inclusive Malaysia and a country where race and religion are not passports to discrimination, then why would he encourage Perkasa, right-wing Umno and the Malay-language papers.

You cannot say something before the Umno assembly and say another thing in the Selangor Club. You are either a leader of all Malaysians everytime or you are a political chameleon.

If you believe that there should be a place for everyone under the Malaysian sun and that there is no such thing as second-class citizenship, then surely you must rein in the likes of Ibrahim Ali and Zulkifli Nordin and Utusan Malaysia.

But failure to do so is indicative that like most politicians in Malaysia, you tailor your message for your audience.

It is interesting that Najib is more and more referring to his father when he needs a bailout. In defending the plan to list Felda, he said that as the son of Tun Razak he would never do anything to harm the settlers.

Words cost nothing in Malaysia. Politicians are constantly saying stuff but it is actions and inaction that speak loudest.

In Najib's case, his "unwillingness" to rein in the fascist forces linked to his administration devalue all this talk about unity.

Wake up from the dream of gold — Lim Mun Fah

JAN 14 — Kampung Melayu Majidee was the first Malay village that I knew after moving to Johor Baru. It still maintains its traditional characteristics and compared to new highly compacted residential areas, the village is simple and quiet.

However, there was a fuss over gold in the village last week. Huge crowds had been flocking to dig up Jalan Mewah for what they claimed to be gold, following the discovery of glittering stones in the road. The frenzied scene at the site was spectacular and unbelievable.

The gold rush began about 10 days ago when a woman accidentally found glittering stones believed to have been transferred there along with other road building material by the Johor Baru City Council. The news rapidly spread and many rushed to start digging day and night, alerting the police and state Mineral and Geoscience Department.

A sample was taken from the site and the test result was disappointing. The glittering stones were confirmed to be worthless iron pyrite, characterised by its brass-yellow hue, which gives off a lustre similar to gold. It is commonly known as "fool's gold".

Although the dream is dead and the police have sealed the site, some "prospectors" are still crowding there, hoping for a miracle.

The incident sounds bizarre and even absurd, but it is really happening. And instead of a remote village with relatively lower education level, it actually takes place in an urban area. What kind of social phenomenon is reflected here?

I think that the incident has reflected how terrible a rumour and blind obedience can be. Villagers just blindly followed the craze and rushed to dig for "gold" without finding out whether the rumour was true, as if they would ruin the opportunity to make a fortune if they did not start digging immediately.

Such irrational group behaviour has reflected the weaknesses of blind obedience and the absence of judgment.

It has also reflected a collective desire of getting rich overnight. It is actually similar to the mentality of those who are addicted to buying lottery tickets. Many people still want to try their luck even though the probability of winning is actually very low.

The frenzy will fade and the people will wake up from the dream someday. However, we should reflect over the implied blind obedience phenomenon and the mentality of getting rich overnight, which can drive people crazy. — mysinchew.com
