Pakatan Rakyat (PR) Social Political Buzz & Bulls

The lembu!

  • Were there any laws broken when Agro-science Industries Sdn Bhd was given the opportunity to develop the National Feedlot Center? I can confidently say no. When PKR Rafizi Ramli/Zuraida Kamaruddin press release mentioned about they have been raising this issue since early 2010, I lough at it because I know they did not.
  • Their source of information was likely to be the articles in my blog. Maybe Rafizi Ramli should address the issue of lack of school in BA and abandon housing in Ukay Bistari rather than taking a trip to Gemas in an effort to politicize the matter. After all he lives in the same neighborhood as I do.
  • Classical in everything the politician does in the country, though it is morally wrong, they usually do not break any laws. It is usually follow set procedures but off course unofficial pressure from the minister helps the right people to get what they want. They play by the rules and in between the rules. When they want to break the rule, they tends to do it verbally or by way of making inferences. Political network helps to get things done expeditiously.
  • Unless PKR i.e. Rafizi Ramli can show that Shahrizat or her family members had broken any laws on the approval of RM250 mill loan at 2% p.a. to ASIB or they being given the rights to develop NFC, I suggest he better focus his energy on something more fruitful. It is public knowledge that RR lied to us VICTIMS of abandon housing about his office managed to get some funds from SSG to help revive the project. On a personal basis I will not vote for such a man who lied openly and probably has no inkling on what the issues are at NFC until he apologies to VICTIMS appropriately. There are plenty of shortcomings when it comes to BA that he can address which he chose not to.

Laporan Ketua Audit Negara bukti kegagalan dasar transformasi Najib...

Audit report shows Najib's transformation plans failed

NONEThe numerous irregularities! uncover ed in Auditor-General's Report 2010 shows that the Najib administration's much-touted transformation plans are a failure, said PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim.

He added that although Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak made promises to tackle irregularities, weaknesses and leakages, it was clear that these promises could not be kept.

"The Auditor-General Report 2010 has proven the failures of the transformation policies which were planned by the prime minister," claimed Anwar in a statement yesterday.

He said that in contrast, Pakatan Rakyat has laid forth its complete plan for change and comprehensive systemic reforms.

Such reforms would require strong political will.

"Without commitment, effort and public participation to build up this country, whatever clever plans or policies will end up in failure," he said.

Was the delay part of conspiracy?

In what is now an annual affair, the Auditor-General's report had revealed cases of mismanagement of public funds, cost overruns for projects and over-priced government procurement among others.

The Parliament's Public Accounts Committee (PAC) will be probing
four ministries and three government agencies soon based on irregularities listed in the report.

clearwater - Was there any real intent to transform? BN-Umno will not turn off the conveyor belt of patronage and corruption that help keep them in power. It's all hot air for a gullible public desperate for new hope. Malaysia is dangerously sick. Vote for change. Vote out BN-Umno.

Onyourtoes - May be the Auditor General and his men and women have done a ! good job . But somehow, I still have a lingering inkling in my mind that all those disclosed are those that they chose to disclose. Remember the 20-80 rule? You see, they can disclose misdeeds in many programmes and projects but they just have to hide the most damning and the biggest abuse. The opposition must engage researchers and divide their MPs into groups to monitor specific ministers and agencies. Otherwise they are merely reacting to disclosures. My view is this: we only know what the audit report disclosed. Would the opposition know more than what is contained in the report?

cheers.

Philippines gets worlds largest Ten Commandments

BAGUIO: A building-sized edifice carved with the Bibles Ten Commandments was unveiled today in the Philippines, making it the largest tablet of its kind, according to Guinness World Records.

The tablet, a copy of the rules supposedly handed down by God to Moses on Mount Sinai, was inaugurated by city officials on a hill overlooking the northern resort city of Baguio.

A local religious group, donated the imposing 152.90 square metre (1,650 square foot) tablet to the city as they were presented a certificate from Guinness World Records.

This beautiful and divine edifice will serve to drive away the evils of spirits that time and again emerge, said Baguio Congressman Bernardo Vergara at the inauguration.

May it drive away evils of illegal drugs, gambling, prostitution.

The religious leader who sponsored the project, Grace Galindez-Gupana, topped her previous world record, attained in 2009 when she built a similar 65-square-metre tablet on a hill outside Manila.

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 26 The nations former top cop has likened the rise of the human rights movement in Malaysia to Communism, and said this would lead to the questioning of accepted truths like the social contract.

Every century has its wave and we cannot avoid being hit by this wave.

Now, its the human rights wave Before that, it was the wave of Marxism, Socialism, former Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Abdul Rahim Mohd Noor said today.

He was speaking at the 2nd Perkasa general assembly at Dewan Centrum here today after officiating the event.

Calling the human rights movement a new religion, Rahim warned that civil liberties activists saw the US and UK as their spiritual home and drew parallels to how the Comintern had engineered the global spread of Communism from its Moscow base.

Now we see many things being questioned because of the human rights wave, he said.

They question the self-evident [social contract], as though theyre trivialising what was agreed upon.

He added that many leftist Malay leaders during the post-World War II period had been tricked into thinking the Communists had their interests at heart but realised later that they were being used by wolves in sheeps clothing.

Rahim is best remembered for giving former deputy prime minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim a black eye following the latters arrest under sodomy charges in 1998.

Also present at the general assembly today was businessman Datuk Shazryl Eskay Abdullah, who was fined in June together with two others for screening an alleged sex video of Anwar.

Menafikan Perkasa bersikap prejudis, Ibrahim berkata tindakan itusekadar mahu mengingatkan calon PRU supaya jangan mengabaikansensitiviti undi Melayu.

Audit - Pempena's massive losses...

Investigations are ongoing over the multi-million ringgit losses suffered by Tourism Ministry subsidary company, Pempena Sdn Bhd, which were highlighted in previous audit reports.

According to the Auditor General 2010 report, the cases involving Malaysian food restaurants in several destinations abroad, an e-portal and other tourism products are still under probe, although some took place as far back as 2005.

Only three cases have been brought to court, with one of them involving a civil suit against Pempena.

The cases which are still "under investigation" include the Little Penang restaurant in Hyderabad, India where renovation costs were deemed too high with suspicions of cheating involved.

"Pempena admitted to suspicious elements in the investment in Awana Hyderabad and reported the matter to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and the police in March 2009.

"The restaurant was sold without approval, knowledge or profit to Pempena. The matter is under probe," the report noted.

An investigation is also underway for the Little Penang restaurant in Beijing, for which Pempena paid RM545,864 to a partner without "signing (a contract) to protect its interests".

"The restaurant has been demolished and the investigation is underway," the report said.

Pempena's venture of opening a Malaysian restaurant in London also brought dismal results, raking in only GBP13,000 in 2007, falling far behind of its annual target of RM520,692.

"Pempena has yet to get any returns for its investments worth RM3.73 million," it lamented.

"To ! date, th e Coca Restaurant has offered to buy over the restaurant for GBP52,000, but the offer was rejected by Pempena as it was too low."

Restaurant demolished before doors open

Pempena's attempt at the food and beverage business also flopped locally through the Sri Kebaya Restaurant, which along with a partner was paid RM720,271 to own a restaurant in Doha.

"To date, the partner has yet to transfer the equity holdings for the restaurant in Doha, Qatar to Sri Kebaya and for seven months, the restaurant operated at a loss amounting of RM316,785," it said.

A demand letter was sent by Pempena to the partner in September 2008 to regain RM520,271 paid to the person, but to no avail. The year 2007 proved to be an especially bad year for Pempena, having again paid a significant amount for a restaurant in Melbourne, but it never opened its doors.

"Pempena paid RM114,000 to a partner to buy 30 percent of Airnett to open a restaurant in Melbourne, Australia," it said.

The company also paid RM500,000 to LinkState Catering Pty Ltd in 2008, but the restaurant failed to take off.

The matter was reported to MACC and the police's Commercial Crimes Department on the same day as the other cases, and all are under probe.

Joining the list of failed ventures which are "still under probe" is the e-Tourism portal for which Pempena parted RM2.5 million, or half of the total bill, to a company, Virtual Malaysia Sdn Bhd.

"Virtual Malaysia could not complete the portal as Pempena failed to make the rest of the payment,"! the rep ort added.

The case is still being investigated despite the case of the remainder RM2.5 million being settled out of court.

Millions lost on imported Italian branded goods

Likewise, under probe is the 2007 case where Pempena paid RM1.95 million to the company Nathena LiFZ (M) Sdn Bhd (Langkawi International Fashion Zone) for a 30 percent stake in the company.

"Pempena also paid RM1.55 million to Nathena as advance payment for imported and branded goods.

"As the partner, Nathco Index Sdn Bhd could not provide the 70 percent capital, Pempena's equity was reduced to RM30,000 while the remainder RM1.92 million was turned into advance capital," it said.

Nathena, which offered 100 Italian brands of clothes and accessories for sale, has not reimbursed part of the advance capital demanded by Pempena amounting to RM1.74 million, but its business premises was seized by the Langkawi Development Council and sold for RM300,000.

Question marks are abound over what had happened to the RM150,000 paid by the subsidiary company for a 40 percent stake in Corporate Treasures' Malaysia Pass golf programme in 2005.

Pempena has also not accepted an offer by Malaysia Tourism Executive Sdn Bhd to buy its shares worth RM478,000 in the latter company for a mere RM10 following losses amounting to more than RM400,000.

The two cases which saw the charging of Pempena personnel was the Amir Diab Concert in the Middle East, where the subsidiary company paid the company of controversial figure Umi Hafilda Ali RM 169,770 for a concert that never happened.

NONECharged for the case is Tourism Malaysia director-general Mirza Mohammad Taiyab Beg Mirza Hadi Hassan Beg (second from left).

Mirza, along with former Pempena chief operating officer, Mohammad Rosly Md Selamat, were also charged for involvement in Pempena's venture into a restaurant in Dubai, for which an investment of RM888,000 was made. The eatery never opened.

In 2008, Malaysiakini reported a series of dubious deals carried out by Pempena, which resulted in the investigations.

Mirror thyself - Firstly, Minister Ng Yen Yen will deny any knowledge on these losses. As usual, she will say that she will leave no stones unturned investigating. No result as investigations still always in progress.............no light at the end of the tunnel Secondly, MACC/PDRM will open files and these files will be sidelined for dust collecting.

kheng - Truth be known! Now we know why Umi Hafilda Ali has been actively discrediting Anwar and PR at recent by-elections!!

2CTS WORTH - This massive loss added to the others is colosal There is no reversible solution in sight There has to be a complete overhaul, a change in the management viz the gomen

kheng
- MCA & Gerakan is so happy to shout and cry over every little spending that relates to the PR state government, especially in Penang. BUT, why are they so silent on the AG report?; are they blind to the wanton abuse of taxpayers money that costs us billions! PCs left to rot in their original packaging for 3 years un! til ter mite infested, buying electric sewing machines in Kapit where the place has no electricity supply, the losses incurred by Pempena, overspent by the Tourism ministry, baggage handling installation for KL Sentral/KLIA, etc.

cheers.

The Star: Non-partisan group meets Hulu Langat community leaders

Choong Mek Zhin (The Star Metro) follows UndiMsia!s #HangatkanLangat initiative and documents the trip originally postedhere.

PLANS to spread the UndiMsia! word among the Hulu Langat public is well underway after a visit by some 20 youths from the non-partisan group to meet with local community leaders to gather some insights recently.

Dubbed Misi Hulu Langat, the group introduced their plans for a couple of activities including a photography exhibition featuring local issues and a treasure hunt ala Amazing Race using public transportation during the meeting with local community leaders.

These activities will mark the introduction of the movements main objectives that is to emphasise citizen empowerment through promotion of their participation in the countrys democratic process.

Samuel Lim, 19, a university student who was one of the few who attended the meet, said that he was drawn to the movement as it resonated with his own philosophy.

Breaking the ice: The group introducing themselves before getting down to the nitty-gritty of getting to know the local community leaders, engage their help and get some insights into the local communitys problems.

I was raised by my parents to fight for what is right. The environment in which I was brought up prioritised justice, he said.

He was attracted to the passion of the members when he first joined and felt it was important to educate youths on the importance of voting based on social and economic issues.

Currently, it still feels like! we are in the experimentation stage but I believe if things are executed properly, we will be able to make a real impact on this community, Lim said.

Hazwany Jamaluddin, 23, who is also a university student said that UndiMsia! was a good platform for youths to do many things.

At first, I felt like the movements objective of creating a more independent community who are more aware of issues around them to be impossible.

But after watching and taking part in the movements weekly discussions for some time now, I am starting to feel more positive about it, she said.

Graduate Teoh Tee Keat, 24, said that he liked the idea UndiMsia! as it stood for getting people to take control of their own problems.

Currently, UndiMsia! is holding various activities to promote its purposes and forming Youth Action Groups (YAGs) in various communities to walk the talk.

In its first year, the movement is focusing on three issues, namely socio-economic rights (food and housing), civil and political rights (freedom of expression) and the budget in respect of education.

As one of the major problems identified by the movement is that many youths have no idea how to go about solving their community problems, the groups YAGs are equipped with a D-I-Y Toolkit to reach solutions.

The four aspects of the toolkit are information (supporting the need for accurate user-friendly information on key rights), process (facilitating engagement with elected representatives and community leaders in indentifying issues and ensuring promises are kept and representation shortcomings addressed), action (organising and mobilising YAGs) and platform (co-opts support and involvement of other education-based civil-society organisations or initiatives to complement user-friendly information available for all).

Hudud: BN hanya perlu beri laluan

Menurut Amar, Kelantan mengambil sikap berhati-hati setelah menerimaancaman Kerajaan Pusat melalui mantan perdana menteri TunDr Mahathir !

Students stage demo, warn of bigger uprising

GOMBAK: Some 40 students from various universities staged a protest within the International Islamic University (UIA) grounds tonight, condemning persecution against vocal academician Professor Abdul Aziz Bari.

Gathering at about 8pm in front of the UIA mosque, the students lighted up candles and held up papers printed Mahasiswa tuntut kebebasan akademik (students seek academic freedom) and Bebaskan university daripada cengkaman politik (free university from political stranglehold).

However, the university administration confronted the students when they attempted to march to the hall where Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein was officiating at the Piala Perdana Menteri debate competition.

After negotiating for some 15 minutes, they were finally allowed to march a shorter distance in silence towards the hall, but were stopped from going near it.

The students then exited the campus compound and continued their protest at the university gates, this time shouting: Hidup mahasiswa. Hidup ilmu. Hancur kezaliman! (Long live the students, long live knowledge, down with cruelty!)

Speaking to reporters later, the spokesperson for the group, Muhammad Zaki Sukery, who is also the deputy president of Malaysian University Student Solidarity Movement (SMM), said the protest was held not only for Aziz.

This is not just for the professor. Malaysia needs to be more open to freedom of knowledge, said Zaki, a former student of the lecturer.

Lifting his suspension is not enough; there is still the police investigation; his laptop was even seized. He is still under pressure. We have now asked Prime Minister (Najib Tun Razak) to intervene. Whatever Aziz did was within his rights and jurisdiction as a! n academ ic; he should not be undergoing this, he said.

Two objectives

It was understood that UIA student representative council president Mohd Ikbal Abdul Wahab handed over a memorandum to Hishammuddin at 8.30pm.

We understand that Ikbal has handed the memorandum and the minister has promised to give it to the prime minister, said SMM chairman Ahmad Syukri Abdul Razab.

Syukri said that the memorandum contained two objectives: urging the nations leaders to allow freedom to academicians and students; and urging that investigation on Aziz be dropped without conditions.

No time limit is given. But we warn our nations leaders that they shouldnt wait until we call the rakyat to rise up to protest with us in bigger numbers.

We wont hesitate and we already have the support of electoral watchdog Bersih 2.0, said Syukri, who urged the authorities to reply soon.

Speaking to FMT, one student, who wished to be known only as Yuyuluna, said the government, and UIA were being unfair.

Aziz Bari does not belong to UIA; he belongs to those who love knowledge. When he talks about the truth, and happens to side with the oppositions stance, it is unfair that they bring him down just because they felt that theyve been slapped, she said.

What about the professor who said that Malaysia was never colonised? He is a disgrace and he is the one who should be suspended. Aziz was just giving his comments. He has even criticised the opposition before, added the 22-year-old Malay literature student.

No peace of mind

Another student, who declined to give her name, said: Everybody has the right to voice his opinions and not be punished for it, especially an academic like the professor.

Last week, Aziz was suspended from the university because of his comments in an article that appeared in Malaysiakini on Oct 12, saying that the Sedition Act 1948 does not criminalise anyone for making comments on a rulers decree.

The constitutional expert made the statement after ruler of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, absolved the Selangor Islamic Affairs Department (JAIS) of any fault in the latters raid on the Damansara Utama Methodist Church (DUMC) in August.

For his views, the university suspended him and served him with a show-cause letter. The suspension was lifted last night ahead of a visit by Najib to the university today.

Najib cancelled his visit today to attend the funeral of Saudi crown prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz al-Saud.

Last Friday, hundreds of university students held a rally in UIA in support of Aziz. They accused UIA of violating academic freedom, being tyrannical and attempting to please political forces.

Colleagues and lecturers from other universities have also backed Aziz.

The university has since lifted the suspension pending an investigation. Aziz has said the lifting of the suspension was meaningless as the damage has already been done.

He said that the police investigation and the action of his university had affected his peace of mind and ability to teach.

Call for a Financial Accountability Commission answerable to the Parliament with full powers to take punitive actions against offenders in financial scandals and incompetence identified annually by the Auditor-General in his report

Media statement by Tony Pua Kiam Wee in Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday, 25th October 2011:

Call for a Financial Accountability Commission answerable to the Parliament with full powers to take punitive actions against offenders in financial scandals and incompetence identified annually by the Auditor-General in his report

Every year Malaysians are treated to a series of "tall tales" in the Auditor-General Report, which are unfortunately true stories. This year, despite an "upgrade" in ratings for the overall financial management by Government departments and agencies, the tales of financial abuse and degrees of incompetence is no less fantastic than previous years.

In previous years, we had screw drivers worth RM32 was purchased at RM224 or a car jack worth RM50 purchased at RM5,700 making a complete mockery of the Government's procurement process. Last year, Kolej Kemahiran Tinggi Mara in Balik Pulau purchased a whole list of products for its computer laboratory at prices well above that of the market, including 2 Acer computer laptops at RM84,640 when it is worth only be a tenth of the price paid.

This year is no different with the Marine Parks Department taking the leading role by purchasing binoculars worth not more than RM1,940 was purchased at RM56,350, more than 28 times the market price. It was of course not the only offending item - the Department purchased RM192,694 worth of products including common items such as laptops, printers, LCD TV, DVD Player when their total value should not exceed RM20,193.

There were many repeat offenders as well in the current year's report. Of note is the construction of computer laboratories by the Ministry of Education throughout the country. In Sabah, a RM160.7 million project was awarded to equip 300 schools by 2008. However, as at the end of 2010, only 2 computer laboratories were completed.

Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara), an agency tasked to uplift the welfare of bumiput! eras is again chastised for making high-priced purchases such as an oven worth RM419 for RM1,200, folding beds worth RM100 for RM500 among other things.

What is perhaps more illuminating is the fact that everyone the Auditor-General only has the necessary resources to audit a small sample of Government procurement and projects. And despite that, such tales of incompetence and abuse are in abundance.

The logical conclusion from the Auditor-General's report is that heads must roll, but it rarely or never happens. The Government's Chief Secretary Tan Sri Sidek Hassan has the all-important role to take the necessary disciplinary actions against the relevant offenders, including the supervising officers who failed in exercising their responsibility in a diligent fashion. However, as informed by the Auditor-General during our Public Accounts Committee briefing yesterday, most of these offending officers are only given a letter of reprimand "surat teguran" before the cases were closed.

The natural outcome is, there is little disincentive for government officers to increase its level of competence or reduce the amount of waste, mismanagement and abuse since the "rewards" far outweigh the potential punishment, even if their deeds are hung out to dry in the Auditor-General's Report.

While the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has the powers to call upon the relevant Ministries and officers to explain their actions and conduct, the PAC has no powers whatsoever to mete out punishment except to make "recommendations" to the Government. This has proven to be completely ineffective, made worse by the fact that the PAC is only able to focus on a handful of the misdeeds highlighted in the Auditor-General's report.

Therefore, given the inability of the Chief Secretary of the Government, the absence of powers endowed upon the PAC as well as the lack of political will from the Prime Minister and his Cabinet to mete out effective punishment and deterrence to offending civil servants, we would like to call! for a i ndependent Financial Accountability Commission (FAC) set up via an Act of Parliament to be created.

The FAC should not be staffed with any civil servant to avoid conflicts of interest, but instead by headed by leading professionals in the field of audit and integrity such as the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA) and Transparency International (TI) Malaysia. The proposed Commission should be made answerable only to the Parliament and granted the powers to take punitive and disciplinary actions against officers guilty of misconduct, negligence and sheer incompetence highlighted in the Auditor-General's Report.

Read, see and remember everything

(Maximize Your Memory by Ramon Campayo) Many of us at some time in our lives would like to have a super memory. Only the gifted or the rare savant would be able to do this.

Little do most of us know that there are some people in this world who have been able to master the skill of exercising their brain and eyes to such an extent that they are able to remember everything they see, read or just glance at.

Just ask Ramon Campayo, the six-time world speed memory champion. According to documented evidence, he has also one of the highest IQs in the world 194.He has also broken 60 world records in the past five years.

So naturally, he is a member of Mensa. If you read his book Maximize Your Memory, you will get a few tips from Campayo on how to solve some of those Mensa puzzles.

It is a technique that this man is willing to share with you. Many, many moons ago when I was sitting for my STPM, I was in a bind. There were so many facts and figures to remember.

Out of sheer desperation, I resorted to mnemonics. It is a technique to help a person remember data and other figures by visual construct as well as by auditory and kinesthetic or sensory detection means.

I didnt really master the technique but I learned enough to scrape through the exam and not bring shame to my family.

Through the decades, there have been dozens of books of acquiring a super memory and speed reading. Campayo has deigned to teach individuals around the world who read his book, some of the techniques employed by himself and many people he has trained over the years.

Critical analysis

If you are a student, you will learn how to remember a whole library of facts. The memory technique is very usefu! l for st udents who are desperate to remember as much as they are able to absorb.

However, having a good memory doesnt mean you are super intelligent. It just means you can remember a lot of things. There are other things involved that make an individual stand out of a massive crowd.

One of these prerequisites of being a very smart person is being able to do a critical analysis of any given situation. In other words, you need to not only have the facts, but you must also be able to apply the things you know and come to a very logical conclusion with very little percentage of error.

Speed reading is one of the gateways towards becoming an unusually smart person. Ordinary people read at about 200 to 250 words per minute.

A person who is considered a fast reader can read about 800 to 1,200 words per minute. That means, that individual can read more books in a day than you can read in a week.

The consequence of being a speed reader and remembering most of the things you have read is storing more information in your head than most ordinary people.

If your knowledge is more extensive than others, then naturally after a while, you would know more. It goes with the territory, so to speak.

Maximize Your Memory is a book that can be read by any individual of any age. For any human being, there is nothing more empowering than strengthening your memory bank vault and extracting any fact by sheer willpower.

Big gains

Having a super memory will help to enhance your career prospects if you are already working. If you are still in school or college, the reservoir of facts you have dancing in your head will help you to breeze through your exams.

Whether or not, you will eventually become a very successful person or very rich is not guaranteed. Some of the cleverest people in the world are criminals. These people can also remember a lot of things too.

I wish I had read Ramon Campayos book when I was in my teens. I certainly would have found life easier then. Perhaps! that wa snt my lot.

Sometimes destiny wants a person to do it the natural way. That means you have to climb that mountain, walk that unbeaten path and carry a heavy yoke around your shoulders for a while.

That is how strong characters are made. But theres no harm in learning some techniques that will make your lifes journey more interesting.

This is where Campayo comes in. I scanned, skimmed and raced through Maximize Your Memory, using the old techniques that I have learnt 20 years ago.

I have not forgotten everything but the little that I have mastered revealed that books such as this one is very useful. A lot of the memory techniques have been simplified by Campayo.

If you read this book diligently and carefully, there is a good chance something will rub off on you.

I wont recommend it if you are thinking of becoming a millionaire in a years time. For that kind of ambition, theres nothing like hardwork, careful planning, persistence and bulldog determination.

This book costs only RM29.90, so it is a very small investment for potentially big gains. Like everything else in life, if you want to hit the Motherlode, you will have to lay the groundwork.

Maximise Your Memory is like taking your first baby steps. Good luck.

NAK HIDUPKAN ISLAM KE MELAYU?

Mas Suri kata:
Kain rentang dalam perhimpunan selamatkan akidah umat Islam pun dah tak betul ....HIDUP MELAYU DULU BARU ISLAM !! SEPATUTNYA HIDUP ISLAM BARULAH AKIDAH ITU TERPELIHARA .... Apakah kita anggap Islam hanya Melayu sahaja.

Fikirkanlah..

Bu! kankah " Hidup Melayu" tu slogan UMNO/APCO sahaja?

The bottomless pit

Nawawi Mohamad
The Malaysian Insider
Oct 25, 2011

OCT 25 The headlines in the news are crying foul over the extravagance, abusive and utter lunacy in the way the government and its machineries have spent our money. Nine ministries and government departments over spent the allocations, 50 per cent failures under poverty eradication projects, procedures were breached, the Bukit Jalil stadium is not save and too many others that need not be mentioned here.

In short the vast preponderance of funds for the ministries, departments and government agencies could become a bottomless pit for the taxpayers. Please be aware that in the 2010 budget allocation 73 per cent was for operating and 27 per cent for development expenditures; a skewed proportion.

That is why there was a delay in announcing the audit report done by the PAC. The whole debacle reflects how irresponsible the government is. This is bad governance.

Unfortunately there is no indication that the government is trying to improve its performance. The government still holds back and distort the process of development and will continue to disproportionate the poorer and weaker of society. The government will continue to withhold critical budgetary operational information to the public.

Ministers and other public officials will continue to be unaccountable or not answerable for their actions. The government will continue appointing the wrong people for the job resulting in lack of vision and no clear direction resulting in failures; double handling and wasted effort. The interface between the public and private sectors will be hampers with red tapes.

Contracts are still being awarded through negotiations. The government will continue to spend money on unnecessary expenditures. There will be more money-making schemes. There will be more borrowings and depletio! n of our funds. There are no wastage, leakage and corruption in the Umno/BN governments dictionary.

In short the government will continue with what Umno wants, without acknowledging what the rakyat wants. Excuses, justifications and cover ups will still be the norm.

While many have strongly urged the government to practice good governance it will never be carried out.

Malaysians please wake up before disaster befalls us.

RM10.89Million Down The Drain!

Perhaps we are not developed enough to be building satellites. Or maybe we're just not smart enough to operate them.

But this is a lot of money to be losing: RM142m RazakSAT faulty after just one year, says federal auditor

By Shannon Teoh

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 24 Malfunctions barely a year after the RM142 million RazakSAT satellite was launched caused it to take 1,328 unusable mapping images that were inaccurate by up to 37km, the Auditor-Generals report showed today.

The report made available today said state-owned Astronautic Technology Sdn Bhd (ATSB), which operates RazakSAT, lost RM10.89 million in 2009, of which RM7.7 million went towards insurance premiums for the faulty satellite.

The operational lifespan of RazakSAT is three years. But the RazakSAT satellite failed to function fully on August 30, 2010, a year and sixteen days from launch date, Auditor-General Tan Sri Ambrin Buang wrote.

The Auditor General added that the remote sensing satellite was designed to capture images within 1km accuracy but an image of an area in Sungai Buloh and Subang missed by 37km and captured Kuala Selangor.

As a result, 1,328 high-resolution images could not be used for the projects stated objective of providing remote information for land development, forestry and fish migration.

Is it too much to ask that my tax money be spent wisely???
