MCA marginalised: Then why stay in BN? - Malaysiakini

your say'Former MCA chief Ong Tee Keat can't admit the Chinese are being marginalised? In so doing, he is foolishly admitting that MCA is irrelevant.'Wikileaks: MCA can't admit Chinese being marginalisedOnyourtoes: How can MCA admit to anything? MCA can't even admit that one of its former presidents has the distinction of serving a jail sentence on both sides of the causeway.
MCA can't admit that another is currently being charged for corruption. MCA can't admit also that its present president was caught having extramarital sex.
This is MCA. But having said that, I am not implying that MCA is the only scum. They know Umno leaders can get away with anything, and MCA can't admit that too.2cts Worth: Former MCA president Ong Tee Keat can't admit the Chinese are being marginalised? By this stance he is foolishly admitting that MCA is irrelevant and no longer represents the Chinese.
If you have no voice but only hands to polish your masters' jewels, you are disgusting and cut a pathetic figure to believe you are doing any good for the community. Why you are still in BN?Anak Kedah: This sentence speaks volumes - "There was once a day in Malaysia when MCA would get the leftovers, but now we are just hoping to get some crumbs from the Umno table."
This only confirms what the rest of us already know. Leaders in MCA, MIC, Gerakan, etc, are only hangers-on who hope to 'enrich' themselves with the little 'crumbs' that fall off from their master's table. Those who support these lapdogs are even worse.Ghkok: The fact that the MCA president admits that the Chinese are taking crumbs, and yet not able to do anything about it, shows that the system of 54 years of one-party rule is not working anymore.
What is needed is a two-party system of BN and Pakatan Rakyat perpetually competing, perpetually listening intensely to the people and perpetually providing the best solutions for our country.
When one party monopolises the country, they stop listening to the people and they start listening only to themselves.
No one should ever have to accept crumbs. No one should ever kowtow to anyone. No one should ever take abuse from anyone.
Fair_Election: Every Chinese should print a copy of this news report and translate it to Chinese, bring it back home during Chinese New Year and paste it at your doorstep for relatives, visitors, guests and friends to see. So sad, but so true.Pity Him: Wikileaks or not, it is common knowledge that Umno can bully the MCA into submission. And the shameless tyrant of 22 years still says nothing is wrong with the BN system.
20121221Disaster: I am still an MCA member. But to me, MCA today is no longer relevant because a vote for MCA is equal to a vote for Umno, which is led by a corrupt leadership.
And the present leaders of MCA are no different from Umno. Malaysia need a real change of leadership very badly.Blogsmith: If Ong Tee Keat knows that being in BN means MCA cannot voice out regarding Chinese marginalisation and being left with crumbs, why bother to stay with BN?
For a few miserable ministerial posts as window dressing? His admission makes the people even more angry with MCA.
Alan Goh: If MCA party leaders and delegates are marginalised, what about the Chinese community whom MCA claims to represent?

Soapbox23: The truth is that Umno has, over the years, taken care of every MCA president with meaty personal gratification, and in return, the presidents have massively short-changed their members, whilst enriching their personal coffers.

Meritocracy: Umno has no respect for the Chinese who contributed 70 percent of the country's income tax revenue and 70 percent of EPF contributions. What is the point of having MCA ministers in the cabinet when they have no guts to speak out?

MCA president Chua Soi Lek is trying to portray himself a hero; forget it, the moment he speaks out against what's wrong, he will be charged for his sex scandal.

Umno was behind his comeback as he can be easily controlled. Ong Tee Keat had the best chance to lead MCA, but he messed it all up.

Ong: The fact that repeated attempts to reach Ong Tee Keat for his comments have been futile, coupled with the other fact that until today he remains an MCA faithful is very telling.

In the 2008 GE, 5,816 out of the 28,091 who actually voted for Pakatan Rakyat candidates in the contests for state seats switched their votes from Pakatan to Ong for the parliamentary seat contest.

If in the next GE, Ong still represents MCA-BN, I hope these same voters will open their eyes and see that voting for Ong is tantamount to voting for MCA-BN. Their votes have been wasted and will continue to be wasted if they continue to vote for him.

Ong can only openly criticise his party colleagues such as Chua and Health Minister Liow Tong Lai. When it comes to non-Malays, including Chinese beings marginalised, Ong can only admit the fact quietly behind the backs of his Umno bosses.

Paul Warren: The truth does set you free doesn't it, MCA?

Hanois sex hot spots: the US embassy guide

WIKILEAKS | #CABLEGATE REF #02Hanoi2845

Subject: Sex And The City Hanoi Style

Buried in a pile of dry diplomatic cables published by WikiLeaks last week is a racy 2,000-word account on Hanois hot spots where the girls (and boys) are, and where all the actions is, or was, almost 10 years ago.

Its the US Embassy guide to the sex scene in Hanoi, complete with references to discos, massage parlours, karaoke joints and rest houses by the hour.

The report is written in the context of the HIV/AIDS situation in Hanoi, more openness about sexual activity and other changes taking place in Vietnamese society, and the Communist Partys uncertainty about how to respond. (WikiLeaks says the 2,000-word account is only an extract of a fuller cable, the text of which is not available.)

The unnamed diplomat who wrote the account must have enjoyed the assignment. His report reads like a newspaper feature article, with bright catchy and suggestive headlines to match.

  • Sex And The City Hanoi Style
  • Disco lives!
  • Sing, sing a song
  • Relax the Thai Way
  • Rest for the weary
  • Down by the Lake
  • Its no joke, however

Hanoi hot spots A leaked US diplomatic cable describes how Hanoi sizzled with sex in 2002, with the main areas shown above. The Gai Lam district across the Red River had wall-to-wall karaoke bars lining the road to the airport. Lenin Park was where joggers went in the mornings and couples hit the bushes in the evening. Hoan Kiem lake, though, was where the boys were.

Its a great read, full of
gossip
the communist party leader is Ho Chi Minhs son by a servant
wry observation;
large numbers of unaccompanied young ladies who are remarkably friendly to strange men;
friendly warning
stay out of the public toilets unless seeking an encounter of another kind; and
the knowing in-j! oke
t he usually reliable staple of poloffs [political officers] everywhere, taxi drivers.

Funny, thats the same kind of reliable source and seasoned political observer that many journalists frequently use, too.

WikiLeaks: 463 embassy cables from KL released

WikiLeaks released 463 US diplomatic cables from its embassy in Kuala Lumpur on Friday, together with thousands of others from US embassies around the globe. Among those is a racy account of the sex scene in Hanoi in 2002, interesting for its historical valueas well as its journalistic style of writing (Relax the Thai way is one headline in the report).

The KL cables date back four years from last year, covering the two years before and after the 2008 general election. The breakdown by year: 2010 (21); 2009 (150); 2008 (136); 2007 (101); and 2006 (55).

Some of the more recent ones on Malaysian politics, Raja Petra Kamarudin, the Altantuya Shaariibuu case and the Najib Tun Razak government have been published at Malaysia Today, though an arrangement between Raja Petra and Julian Assange, main person behind WikiLeaks.

The 463 cables give a picture of the US State Departments main concerns. These fall broadly into four categories:

Najib’s rating will slip further without polls reform, says Pakatan

Najib’s approval rating has hit its lowest point since last May. — File pix

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 30 — Pakatan Rakyat (PR) leaders have predicted that Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s steady decline in public support may come to a head in the next general election if he fails to introduce immediate reforms to the electoral system.

While they agreed the dip reported by Merdeka Center’s latest survey yesterday was unsurprising, the leaders chose to remain cautious over the implications, saying the numbers may not necessarily reflect a positive swing towards the federal opposition.

Lim said the PM has been desperately trying to regain lost ground.

The independent pollster’s survey revealed that Najib’s approval rating hit its lowest point since last May at 59 per cent, fuelled by rising concerns over the surge in living costs and his government’s handling of the tumultuous July 9 Bersih 2.0 rally.

DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang said without immediate electoral reforms, Najib’s administration may suffer a demise come the 13th general election, which is speculated to be called within the next few months.

“The results are in tandem with the general opinion that things have not been good for Najib, what with the price increases and the mishandling of Bersih 2.0.

“He has obviously been desperately trying to regain lost ground... introducing the parliamentary select committee (PSC) for electoral reforms, the Election Commission (EC) mulling allowing all Malaysians abroad to vote and warming up to the use of indelible ink... but whether these changes will be in time for the next polls, it remains to be seen,” he told The Malaysian Insider.

PAS central working committee member Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said Najib had completely lost his window of opportunity to shore up voter support, saying his handling of recent events had merely contributed to the prime minister’s loss in popularity.

Dzulkefly said the PM has a penchant for flip-flopping.

He agreed with Lim that Najib must hold true to the purpose of forming the PSC by introducing reforms in time for the coming polls.

“The PSC now seems more political and Najib does not have the political will to guarantee that it will take effect before the dissolution of Parliament. He has shot himself in his own foot, yes, and reaffirmed his penchant for flip-flopping and lack of will to reform,” he said.

PR leaders also claimed Najib’s purportedly lethargic attempt to reform the election system stemmed from the leader’s loss of confidence from among his own men in Umno, indicating that his support was not only weak in public but within his own party.

“Najib is really ending up like his predecessors, reviving this legacy of lost opportunities, so it is not at all surprising that his rating has gone down. But the longer he waits, the more adverse and harmful it will be for him,” said Dzulkefly.

PKR leaders Chua Tian Chang and Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad expressed caution that the Merdeka Center survey results may panic Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN) leaders into employing more underhanded tactics to ensure a win in the coming polls.

“I think he definitely mishandled Bersih but his approval rating has very little to do with the elections. My concern now is this — Najib is going to read this and there will be more fraud in the polls. Umno will read it and if they plan to face this, they may use massive cheating to win,” Chua told The Malaysian Insider.

Nik Nazmi urged the Najib administration to take the survey results as a lesson.

Nik Nazmi agreed with the possibility but urged the administration to take the survey results as a lesson and use it to introduce reforms before the coming polls.

He said the PSC may merely be “cosmetic”, claiming that Najib would likely end up succumbing to internal pressures from his party detractors by failing to follow through with his pledges.

“He (Najib) spoke about the PSC to ensure that the elections are credible but now the Umno warlords led by (Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri) Muhyiddin (Yassin) are pressuring him, so next he says that he call for polls before the PSC concludes its work. But this is an oxymoron — the life of the committee depends on the life of Parliament,” he said.

Najib, he added, is too “cautious” a leader unlike Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, resulting in the former’s constant reversal of policy decisions.

Kemenangan dan Kemerdekaan

Aidilfitri hari kemenangan;
Kejayaan menempuh halangan;
Mengenali erti kekurangan;

Bersih says vindicated by new poll

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 30 — Bersih 2.0 has said it had expected the overwhelming two-thirds support for free and fair elections published by a local research house yesterday, adding it was inspired to ramp up its campaign to educate Malaysians nationwide on polls ahead of the 13th general election.

The electoral watchdog’s chief Datuk Seri Ambiga Sreenevasan said she had expected the overwhelming support from Malaysians polled by the Merdeka Center and published yesterday.

“That accords with our stand and the reason for that is because our demands are so wholly reasonable,” she toldThe Malaysian Insider.

But the lawyer disputed the pollster’s analysis that “Malays were also the only group where more agreed with the way the Najib administration handled Bersih than not, with 53 per cent saying they were satisfied with how the government reacted to the rally”.

Ambiga’s fellow Bersih 2.0 steering committee member, Maria Chin Abdullah, however, seemed to sport a different view when she said the Merdeka Center poll finding was a “fair observation of Malaysians’ view of electoral reform”.

“We definitely need to do more work to reach out to those out of town and in the rural areas, not just to Malays. It’s an indication for Bersih. We don’t think our demands have reached out to every city in Malaysia, for example, Sabah and Sarawak," Chin said.

The head of Empower, a non-government linked group to Bersih 2.0, said the committee will also unroll a new programme to attract more support after the week-long Hari Raya-National Day twin festivities.

Chin also told The Malaysian Insider it had drawn up its strategies to promote its eight demands to free up the electoral process but will only announce them later.

She however, was overjoyed at the positive response from ordinary Malaysians towards the 62-member coalition, which the Home Ministry had outlawed last month.

“We need people from every state,” she said.

Thousands of Bersih supporters flooded the streets of the capital on July 9 to demand for free and fair elections after talks between the election watchdog and the government broke down.

This was despite an unprecedented intervention by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, who called on both sides to reach an amicable solution for the sake of national stability.

Bersih has demanded that Putrajaya execute eight electoral reforms before the next general election, expected to be called soon.

The survey by the Merdeka Center of 1,027 randomly selected registered voters aged 21 and above was carried out between August 11 and 27.

Over two-thirds of Malaysians agree with the demands mooted by Bersih 2.0 while close to half disagreed with the way Putrajaya handled the July 9rally and the events leading up to it, the latest Merdeka Center poll results showed.

Seventy per cent agreed that foreign observers should be allowed to monitor elections while 68 per cent felt opposition parties should be given access to government-owned television and radio stations for at least one hour a day.

Support for foreign observers and greater opposition access to media were strongest among the Chinese (74 per cent and 84 per cent, respectively) while Indians were most likely to agree to the use of indelible ink (83 per cent).

ALAHAI UMNO/APCO

Mengapa PERKASA mengambil sikap sedemikian? Mengapa mereka enggan membanteras rasuah?

Do not discredit security forces, says Najib

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 29 – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has condemned statements by anyone that discredited the sacrifices of the country’s security forces in the struggle for independence.

He said it was regrettable that there were people who hero-worshipped the outlawed Communist Party of Malaya (CPM) which he said was anti-national and against God and religion.

Najib (picture) said this in his special message for Aidilfitri and the 54th anniversary of independence, and was apparently referring to a statement allegedly made by PAS deputy president Mohamad Sabu.

“While we are in a celebrative mood, let’s not ever forget the sacrifices and blood and sweat of our forefathers and members of our security forces who fought for independence,” Najib said in his message broadcast over Radio Television Malaysia.

He said the people should bear in mind that what the country enjoyed so far did not come by accident or that it could be sustained if the country’s independence was not appreciated or safeguarded.

Najib said that it was important that the people nurture national unity and patriotism. He also said that the coming of Aidilfitri and National Day celebrations brought about a deep meaning about how blessed Malaysia was.

The prime minister called on the people to continue with the open house tradition, and assured them that the government would continue to provide direct subsidy on essential items such as rice, cooking oil, flour and sugar as well as fuel such as the RON 95 petrol, diesel and liquefied petroleum gas.

Nampak benar mereka tengah serabut. Ajak DAP masuk BN, DAP tolak. Suruh MCA dapat sokongan solid kaum Cina, gagal. Suruh MIC pungut balik sokongan kaum India, gagal. Macam mana nak berjaya kalau HINDRAF berjaya buktikan kaum India di Malaysia ni berkeadaan daif!!!

UMNO/APCO sudah semakin lemah dari dalam. Mereka hanya nampak gagah kerana masih ada kuasa. Para pemimpin parti-parti komponen pun dah tak boleh harap. Impak BERSIH 2.0 semakin menghantui BN.
