PR SOCIAL CONTRACT THE ORANGE BOOK

1. In March 2011, the Pakatan Rakyats (PR) coalition launched the Orange Book. Among others it details out policies that sets out a social contract between the government and the people. It is something that was documented and announced publicly. To understand their first 100 days promises, one need to read the entire document which outlines their angle of where are we now to where they want to take this nation to. Since election is near, maybe it is time to discuss the 10 agendas that they promise to do and use the basis of discussion to decides the direction to vote.

Agenda No 1:

Reform the main national institution of the government such as the Election commissions, the MACC, the AG Chambers, the Royal Malaysian Police to introduce transparency and restore accountability of the government.

Q1. Are there issues with this agencies today?
In my opinion YES.

Q2. Are transparency and accountability a sore point with the people?
In my opinion YES.

Q3. Are the politicians in office today transgressing the separation of powers which suppose to exist between them the government machinery?
In my opinion YES.

A few days ago, I received a chain email where it says that the DG of KKR Datuk Ir. Dr. Judin Abdul Karim has been removed from his post and transferred to CIDB because certain political quarters are not happy with Non compromising attitudes and refusal to budge his position over request to be more flexible. Personally I dont know Judin but had exchange words in 2009 where he defused the situation where I confront Dato Zain Bidin, the former JKR minister over the landslide report that affect BA. Can I say that PR agenda No1 is apt?

Learning Science and Maths in English DPM got it wrong!

FMT LETTER

From a dumbfounded parent, via e-mail

I was flabbergasted upon reading the NST article on May 12, headlined: English should be taught exclusively: DPM.

It would be deeply embarrassing if our education minister did actually asked my counterparts in several countries whether proficiency in English could be achieved through Science and Mathematics, and they expressed surprise.

While we understand the need to learn and improve the standard of English among our people, many of us have also been regularly highlighting for the past two years that Science and Mathematics are best learnt in its lingua franca i.e. English, along with numerous other reasons in support of PPSMI.

Muhyiddin just does not listen to the rakyat at all and simply forces his views and opinions across on this issue. In fact, the acronym PPSMI meant just that teaching and learning of Science and Mathematics in English.

It would have been PPISM (Pengajaran dan Pembelajaran Bahasa Inggeris melalui Sains dan Matematik), if the Deputy Prime Ministers assertion were valid.

Time and again, Malaysians are exposed to thoughtless statements made by our ministers.

This time, however, it has gone international and unfortunately, the citizens of France, Denmark and several other European countries get to hear them first hand.

To the Embassy staff of these countries in KL, we express our sincere regret for sending a country bumpkin to represent us.

We Say

A Warning by the Government is NOT good enough.

This is NOT the first time Utusan Malaysia has incited racial and religious hatred against Non-Malays and Non-Muslims in the country.

It is done once too often. Malaysians have it enough.

The current Editor-in-Chief and the Editors should be charged for sedition and for being a REAL threat to national security and public safety by this UMNO-led Government.

If not, they SHOULD be SACKED by the owners of Utusan Malaysia.

Malaysian Voters, especially NON-Malay Voters, should ALWAYS keep in mind at every Election time that the anti-Non Malays and anti-Non Muslims UTUSAN MALAYSIA is owned by UMNO.

And UTUSAN MALAYSIA has always been, and is, a MOUTH-PIECE of UMNO.

Therefore, we urge that UMNO MUST act against these racist and religious bigots in Utusan Malaysia, for UMNO's own good.

The Home Ministry has slapped UMNO-owned Utusan Malaysia with a warning letter for publishing an unsubstantiated front-page article alleging a Christian plot to usurp Islam as the religion of the federation, which sparked a furore among the countrys majority Muslims and minority Christians.

The ministry today issued a s! tatement that the editor-in-chief of the Umno-owned newspaper, Datuk Aziz Ishak, was invited to the ministry to explain the dailys violation of the Printing Presses and Publishing Act 1984 (PPPA).

It also warned media organisations against running reports that may cause public unrest or content inconsistent with PPPA guidelines.

On Saturday, Utusan Malaysia carried a front-page article headlined Kristian agama rasmi? (Christianity the official religion?), claiming the DAP was conspiring with Christian leaders to take over Putrajaya and abolish Islam as the religion of the federation.

The report, based entirely on unsubstantiated blog postings by two pro-Umno bloggers, charged DAP with sedition for allegedly trying to change the countrys laws to allow a Christian prime minister.

Yesterday, the Penang government filed a formal complaint with the Home Ministry demanding stern action against Utusan Malaysia over the report.

In the complaint, Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng sought for Prime Minister Najib Razak to act sternly against the Malay daily to prove that the newspaper does not enjoy full legal immunity.

Today, Lim took the matter further when he called for Najib to axe the Utusan Malaysia editors and reporters responsible for the false report.

Najib was also forced today to meet with the church leaders over the issue, after which the prime minister said he was pleased the church leaders had pledged to respect Islams position as the religion of the federation.

According to Najib, the church leaders also said Christians had no desire to challenge the provision within the Federal Constitution.

Najib did NOT , however, offer an apology for the report by his partys (UMNO) mouthpiece.
