Orange Book ‘new social contract’, says Tian Chua

By Yow Hong Chieh, The Malaysian Insider

KUALA LUMPUR, March 13 — Pakatan Rakyat’s (PR) Orange Book does not just detail policies but sets out a social contract between the government and the people, PKR vice president Chua Tian Chang said last night.

He said strong voter support in the next general election would turn the manifesto into a contract that bound PR to its “comprehensive” reform promises.

“We have signed a contract with the people,” the Batu MP told some 1,000 supporters who attended the Federal Territory PKR fundraiser at Kelab Sultan Sulaiman here.

He stressed that the Orange Book was the first time in Malaysian history that any party has tried to debate about policy without engaging in the usual mud-slinging and character assassination.

PR has been flogging the Orange Book as an alternative to Barisan Nasional’s (BN) policies in an attempt to win over voters, with mixed success.

Central to the Orange Book is the promise to implement sweeping reforms within the first 100 days of PR seizing Putrajaya.

These include subsidy restructuring, abolition of the Internal Security Act (ISA), raising teachers’ pay and increasing royalties to oil-producing states.

Chua, better known as Tian Chua, also said that PR was banking on the Orange Book to set off yet another “political tsunami” in the wake of the opposition’s notable gains in Election 2008.

He said the recent tsunami that hit Japan proved that such sudden changes were hard to predict and all but impossible to withstand.

BERITA HARIAN pokes fun at recent tsunami disasters in JAPAN

CNN iReport :

Local Malaysian newspaper Berita Harian published a caricature in their editor's column today that depicts the popular Japanese cartoon character Ultraman as trying to outrun an incoming tsunami.

The publication has received tremendous criticisms by readers, who accuse the editors as being "inconsiderate and distasteful".

What Malaysians Are Saying....

Read here and here
  • I am embarrased to be a Malaysian but I can't change that fact. However, I am fortunate to be livimg out of Malaysia given all the distasteful & disrespectful events caused by Malaysian leaders. Now to top things, Berita Harian, a local Malaysian newspaper have proven themselves to be OWNED BY IDIOTS AND RUN BY IDIOTS!

  • I am so disgusted with Malaysia...sad to admit I am from Malaysia...

  • I think this is the most insensitive and distateful thing that can come out of any human being. There is a time and a place for everything and clearly, this isn't one of them.

  • Publish news about japan disaster and yet at the same time mock them with cartoon .. Sorry to say, even I'm Malaysian very ashamed about this.

  • That's the problem with Malaysian, they are so coveted by their government that when this kind of things happen they react too fast without thinking. Here they don't get the whole point. This cartoon is not offensive, it's just not funny. Get over it. A cartoonist like Lat has cove! red more sensitive subjects and yet has never been criticized, the reason being that he has done it intelligently.

  • I am a Malaysian and I must admit it is a national disgrace having such newspaper poking fun of others misery. There is a classic case of "Schadenfreude" German word for cashing pleasure from the misfortunes of others.

  • I am Malaysian. And i'm ashamed of this as BH is one of the main medium reaching the audiences and the citizen of Malaysia. I would like to apologize for this. A lot of petition has been started online requesting BH to apologize. We, most of Malaysian are aware of the trouble of those affected in Japan. We deeply and are still praying for Japan. Condolences to those affected.

  • BH is supposedly a true 'muslim' news media , fully supported by our UMNOputras. Have a question for the UMNOputras , does Koran teach you poke jokes at suffering people ? ? ? Why have numerous places of worship, instead of decent schools , IF you are able to be DECENT , in the face of such devasting disaster ! ! ! BH should be banned , to prove that we , the Malaysians are really sorry for such a SICK JOKE .

  • This BH is Umno organ and they will be satisfied after making fun of others the like of: Sodomy adalah perbuatan memasukkan zakar kedalam dubur so much so my primary school going daughter once asked me, Papa what is zakar, what is dubur. I just cannot answer but deep inside me I said, Umno Pukima*.

  • The whole Berita Harian editorial bunch should be dragged on the street like the cowhead incident. Apologize is not enough. They should weep for forgiveness to the Japanese people.

  • Taking stupidity in Bodohland to higher levels. That's all they are capable of. When we had the highland towers tragedy, the Japanese, the French acted swiftly, flew in with their rescue personnel & equipment to help us, and this is how we thank them. Screw u next time. When we had terrible floods in johor, while the Sleeping Beauty! was cut ting ribbon for "restoran" in perth, singaporeans came in and help us malaysians. Ungrateful, this is ketuanan behavior, izzit?

  • Dumb people do dumb things in the most inappropriate time and place. This berita harian ought to b esuspended for embarrassing Malaysia. berita harian = umnoputra = stewpigs! Buat lawak pun tak reti tempat dan masa. Bila umnoputra tersindir sikit jee dah nak meradang ugut bakar lee, ugut hantar balik cine lee, ugut nak tarik balik kerakyatan lee tapi bila sendiri buat bodoh tak de hal laa plak!

  • Sick mentality. The whole Editorial and Management Board should resign and their press printing permit cancelled. This is the so-called 'dominant' race inculcated from the days of Tun Mahathir. Congrats to Malaysia. You have proven to be the most extremely insensitive and offensive Nation in the international community. Perkasa and Ibrahim Ali must surely be truly proud of what they had done.

  • Berita Harian another UMNOputra dirty rag, not worth the paper it is printed on.Their contempt for decency is demonstrated by this distasteful cartoon, nonetheless this daily has shamed me and everyone in my household. In 2009, Berita Harian fell from a circulation of 203,704 in 2006 to 154,868 a fall of 24 per cent. Little wonder many will not wrap even fish purchases with this rag. It poisons the fish.

Malays, Islam and the bible

  • The subject of this article may be too provocative for some. Therefore, I have decided that I will not allow any comments to be published for this post. For this post the smart elects and the loud mouth readers can keep their views to themselves.

  • Religion is something that is close to ones heart. The strength of ones religion depends very much on his/her knowledge of the subject matter. Today, there are limitless access to information related to Islam, Buddhism, Christianity and any other religion in the world on net. For the record it has been a long time since I read the Quran as part of one bound book.

  • Now days, I read and understand most of its interpretation online. Occasionally I print a few pages of the English and Malay translation and used it to read when on a long travel. Fact is the Quran, the Bible and many other holy books are available in many language and translation online and are accessible at the tip of a finger.

  • Sometime in the early 90s I asked a learned man what would be the greatest gift a parent can give to a child. He told me that it is the ability to read, analyze and to think logically (..boleh baca, boleh fikir,.. boleh pakai otak). He is an elderly Indian man of Hindu faith in an estate in Sungai Siput.

  • It took me a long time for me to appreciate what he meant and till today, I dare not say that I fully comprehend what he meant. I am probably half way to fully understand what he said. It is not just the words but the manner and circumstances on how he had said it. I am not sure whether our authorities have reached the level of ability as mentioned by the Hindu priest.

  • This brings me back to the issue of the Bible in Bahasa Indonesia that is being held by the authorities as it uses the word Allah in the book. What are the Muslims in this country are s! cared of f that we prevent others from reading their own holy book in language that they understand. Many Muslims in this country should be ashamed as they continue reading the Quran without understanding the meaning of it. The Christians as I see it just wants their followers to understand the bible in the local language.

  • We should not fear the bible of the Christians. We should teach our children the need to appreciate Islam and the other religion. We should engage them with the aim of making them understand our religion and we understand theirs. Holding 35,000 copies of bible helps no one other than making people despising the Muslims who are the power brokers of the country.

  • After all it is available online and with IPad 2 and 3Gs, there is no stopping anyone from reading anything on the internet. What is the point of having the rights of practicing religion is written nicely in Article 3 and Article 11 in the Federal constitution when one doesnt follow it? I hope the authorities will not ban the use of IPad 2 as I have ordered mine through a friend.

  • Anwar - We wont walk like the Egyptians....

After weeks of borrowing influence from the democracy movement in Middle Eastern countries, opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim yesterday explained that a Egyptian or a Tunisian-style power grab was not for Pakatan Rakyat's taking.

We don't want to do things like Egypt or Tunisia. If we want democracy, we will do it through the ballot boxes and through the general elections. And we are here for the win, said Anwar, who is also the PKR de facto leader, in a speech last night.

Malaysia is a great country. It's a beautiful country and I love this country very much. Malaysia does not deserve to be led by leaders who are corrupt and greedy, he added.

Tunisia saw an uprising in December last year, which is now come to known as the 'Jasmine Revolution'. What started off as continuous public pressure and street demonstrations, quickly escalated nationwide, leading to the ousting of longtime President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali. Inspired by their Arab brethren, Egyptians followed suit and ousted their own president Hosni Mubarak - who ruled the country for 30 years - after 17 days of protests.

Capitalizing on this, Anwar had quickly used the two countries as ceramah fodder, drawing parallels between them and the BN administration in Malaysia. Several BN leaders have also swiftly responded to the insinuations, rubbishing the examples played up by Anwar.

Anwar 'takes responsibility' over the defectors

Speaking to a crowd of about 500 at the Federal Territory PKR launch of the 'Buku Jingga' and the fundraising dinner, Anwar also apologised over the recent string of defections from PKR. When people jump, then they (BN) will start saying that this is evidence that the party will collapse soon. And out comes this che! que for RM1.4 million.

That's just one project by the way, we don't know if there are more, he said, in clear reference to the Padang Serai MP N Gobalakrishnan. PKR had previously claimed that Gobalakrishnan - who left the party in Jan 29 - had suddenly only managed to pay off a RM1.4 million lease with two cheques, incidentally when his attacks against the party heightened.

To that, Anwar said that they have learnt their lesson.

They say 'Anwar, you're also in the wrong because you chose them to be the wakil rakyat'. And that's why I accept full responsibility and I'm sorry. But we have learnt our valuable lesson. If you are lazy and greedy, don't even think of wanting to become a candidate, he said to applause by the floor.

    Power outage causes scare

However, the event last night was not exactly without hitch when the power went out for 10 minutes just as Anwar took the mic. Just as he was in the midst of greeting the guests, the lights as well as the sound in the field of Kelab Sultan Sulaiman, Kampung Baru - where the dinner was held - went out, throwing the function into darkness.
While he was huddling around the podium with other party leaders including Selangor Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim and Federal Territory chief Dr Idris Ahmad, the 'security personnel' from the Youth wing quickly surrounded him to form a protective barrier.

After a few minutes of discussion, Anwar and his entourage decided to abandon the venue. But just as the were halfway walking out, the power came back on, causing them to quickly make a U-turn back for the stage.

Wajib SPRM membuat siasatan.

SPRM perlu siasat dana Umno Selangor, YKE biayai pelajar balik Mesir
    March 13, 2011

    Najib Terlibat Beli GobalaKrishnan Juga????

Mengapa Tulang Besi berani sebut nama Najib Tun Razak.

"Anwar: Mamak rajahs worse than colonial masters"

Anwar: New rajahs worse than colonial masters

KUCHING: The Sarawak Barisan Nasional (BN) government is worse than the colonial government, PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim charged today.

“The colonial government might have robbed the state of its wealth, but it never grabbed native customary rights (NCR) land from the people. It respected the rights of the natives,” he said.

“The state government led by Taib Mahmud is worse than the colonial government; it not only robs the state of its wealth, but also grabs the NCR land from the natives; it is full of corruption, cronyism and abuse of power,” he said at the Sarawak PKR convention today.

“When the colonialists left, the new ‘rajahs’ (kings) take over Sarawak. They ‘sapu’ (clean-sweep) everything – government contracts, land, and business and at the same time they ignore the people’s problems, and cultivate a climate of fear. They are very corrupted,” he said.

“The new ‘rajahs’ introduced ‘politics of development’. What is it? For whom?” he asked.

“Of course there are roads, we don’t deny; there is electricity, we don’t deny; there are airports, we also don’t deny. But if the road projects, say, cost RM100 million, they will claim RM160 million. If the airport project costs RM200 million, they will claim RM260 million, and the extras will be pocketed by them,” he alleged.

“Their corruption, their abuse of power and their land-grabbing have now been recorded in the international profile.

“I will get my contacts overseas and ask them to open the files on Sarawak leaders who have committed serious crimes against the people of Sarawak,” Anwar said.

He said that Kuala Lumpur could not do anything as it is equally corrupted.

    New masters

Anwar also blamed Sarawakians who are prepared to support and be colonialised by these new masters.

He said when the new colonisers took away their land, the people become quiet, and when they slapped them, they also keep quiet.

And when they ill-treated them, the people continued to show their loyalty to them, he said.

“That blind loyalty is stupid loyalty,” he said, calling on all PKR members to wake up the people from their slumber.

“You have to work hard, double your pace and go to every village and longhouse and tell the people that their future and that of their children depend on them.

“We race against time, race against money, race against threats and intimidation and race against brute power and force.

“If we can do this and mobilise the people, no Taib Mahmud, or Najib (Tun Razak) or Rosmah (Mansor) can stop the people’s power,” he said.

“Defeating Taib or PBB and SUPP are not good enough in the coming election. We must change the whole system that is rampant with corruption, cronyism and abuse of power.

“As long as the system is not changed, (there is) no way we can see justice in this land, rule of law, an independent judiciary, and an independent Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission,” he said.

    ‘Work together’

Anwar, who is also Opposition leader, said that it was important that parties in Pakatan Rakyat work together to change the government.

On the coming state election, Anwar told the state leaders that those who have integrity would be allowed to contest to avoid problems PKR had faced in the past.

“We should learn a lesson from the past,” he said, referring to PKR Members of Parliament who have defected to BN or have left the party and remained as independent MPs.

“Those MPs have no integrity and I do not wish your elected representatives to be broken up by Taib and PBB, and if they cannot break up your elected representatives, they will buy them.

“Those who have no integrity will succumb to temptation and will betray us,” he added.

    A Traitorous Chameleon

    Welcome to Malaysia-Instinct.com

Anwar Al Juburi bashing starts now.

Anwar The Sodomiser has lost his credibility due to the exposure of his sexual liaison with 4 women as exposed in a recently published Tun Dr Mahathir's memoir "A Doctor In The House".

What had been written is the true account of what happened leading to his dismissal from his post as the 2nd most powerful man in Malaysia.

If that fucking faggot thinks he had been slurred by an account of lies, he should sue Tun Dr Mahathir. But even his lawyer, Sankara Nair had told him not to do it. So, this indicated that his lawyer also knew what had been exposed as being the truth.

But he himself knew his real character who loves to fuck male's butt since he was in MC Gay Gay.

However, in true fact, he had lost his credibility a long time ago, after he kept making promises he cannot keep especially on the infamous 916 issue which he purported of 30 BN MPs jumping ship to the opposition pact.

The 30 MPs that he told us will jump ship must be identified and dropped as the future candidate in the coming General Election which is just around the corner now. We don't want BN to be screwed by the traitors who are in BN but are actually the Trojan Horses of the opposition.

He is a true chameleon who will say anything, even promising his supporters the sun and the moon, but have so far not been capable of fulfilling his promises.

Unlike a conman who cheated his victims unknowingly, he is a blatant liar with an oratory skills who will spin whatever wonderful tales to awe his supporters who had been blinded with his wonderful tales of lies and deceit.

If only this world is still magical, maybe we can see him being put in a situation where we had seen in the movie "Liar, Liar", where this lawyer had been forced to tell the truth for a whole 24 hours because of a birthday wish his son had made, because his son had been unhappy because his father likes to lie.

We cannot believe this villain because he is a true villain who will destroy Malaysia if he ever gets the chance to become Malaysia's Prime Minister.

Let us ensure that this will never happen because we have to do whatever it takes to defend the sovereignty of this country forever and ever.

DAP Christians: "UMNO Muslims lie again !"

Bishop slams bible seizure denial as lies

By Debra Chong, The Malaysian Insider

KUALA LUMPUR, March 13 — Bishop Ng Moon Hing, who heads the Christian Federation of Malaysia (CFM), has denounced as lies a reported home ministry denial that it seized and locked up at Port Klang 5,000 Malay bibles shipped in three years ago from Indonesia.

The imported bibles have become a source of controversy because they contain the word “Allah”, which the majority Malay-Muslim community here believes cannot be used by non-Muslims to refer to their deities.

On Wednesay, national news agency Bernama reported the ministry’s clarification that the bibles actually had been refused entry into Malaysia for not fulfilling the ministry’s requirements.

Citing the ministry statement, Bernama said a letter of refusal dated June 26, 2010 had been sent to the importer; however, the importer had yet to claim the cargo.

When contacted by The Malaysian Insider, Ng demanded to know who had made the statement.

    “Who said it?” he questioned.

When told it was a statement reported by Bernama, and no name had been mentioned, Ng said: “Well, they’re lying.”

The ministry was responding to the National Evangelical Christian Fellowship’s (NECF) claim that the ministry had conducted the seizure.

NECF secretary-general Sam Ang, writing in its bulletin, claimed the ministry had confiscated and detained the bibles in Port Klang since the year before last, and continued to hold them although the Cabinet had approved the release of the consignment.

The bishop said the CFM, the umbrella body representing over 90 per cent of all churches in the country — covering the Catholic, Protestant and evangelical segments — has documents to back their claim and called the ministry’s bluff on the issue.

Copies of two letters, sent by the ministry’s publication and Al-Quran text control division to the Bible Society of Malaysia (BSM) which had imported the Malay bibles, were also provided to The Malaysian Insider.

In the first letter, dated June 10 last year, a senior home ministry official wrote that the BSM’s appeal letter had been considered and the ministry in Putrajaya had decided to allow the release.

[In English, the letter reads: “You are requested to contact this office to collect the publications before June 25 2010 from the date this letter is issued. All publications gazette and detained under Section 9A, 17 and 18 will be terminated according to Section 19(2) of the Printing Press and Publications 1984 after the period of June 25 2010. If you fail to do so, your publications will be terminated in whichever manner decided by the ministry according to the provision of the same Act .”]

Ng, who is also head of the Anglican diocese in the peninsula, said the Bible Society and CFM representatives have been seeking help from various Cabinet ministers, to no avail.

“They give us their assurance that they will look into it,” Ng said, adding he had heard the phrase repeated countless times.

However, things changed after church leaders sought for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to intervene directly.

    Mamak bullies real Natives !

    PKR: Sabah natives being discriminated

The opposition party has also pledged to enact specific laws to safeguard and protect the rights and interests of the natives of Sabah.

(Free Malaysia Today) - KOTA KINABALU: There are two types of Bumiputeras in Sabah according to the state PKR – 1st class and 2nd class. The Sabah natives fall into the second category.

It is the constitutional right of the natives of Sabah to be given preferential treatment and the state has to safeguard their well-being but is not doing so, said Kong Hong Ming, Sabah PKR’s presidential council member for Land Management and Development.

Kong, an activist lawyer, contended that if the Malays in the Peninsular Malaysia could enjoy the entrenched property rights in the Malay reserves, which can only be revoked or taken away with a two-thirds majority support of the total numbers of the State Assemblymen and the two-thirds majority support in the State Assembly, the same protection and safeguard should be accorded to the natives of Sabah and Sarawak.

“Even the Orang Asli in Selangor are protected by the Aboriginal Peoples Act 1954 (Act 134) with an Orang Asli institution established to specifically serve the interests of Orang Asli as the indigenous community.

“Why couldn’t the BN government enact specific law and establish institution to protect and safeguard the interests of the natives of Sabah?” he asked.

He said the natives of Sabah should not be more constrained or controlled than any other community in Malaysia.

The opposition party has pledged to enact specific laws to safeguard and protect the rights and interests of the natives of Sabah, when Pakatan Rakyat comes into power, he said.

Kong made the pledge when speaking at the forum on “NCR Land: Issues, Policies and Challenges in Sabah” organized by Sabah PKR, which was held in the Palace Hotel here this week.

“If the Federated States of Malaya could and have enacted state land to entrench and protect the Malay Reservations, then, the Sabah government has failed miserably in their fiduciary duty to the native communities of Sabah to protect and safeguard their well-being and advancement contrary to the State Constitution and the Federal Constitution under Articles 153 and 161A(5),” he charged.

    Reform needed

Sabah PKR will examine the strength and merits of the Aboriginal Peoples Act 1954 (Act 134) and the protection and safeguard given to the Malay reserves in the West, so as to enact a new specific law to protect and safeguard the rights and interests of the Orang Asal of Sabah.

“Policies alone provide no guarantee to the natives that their wellbeing and advancement would be assured. Safeguards for their rights can only be guaranteed if they are enshrined in the constitution and legal framework of the country and the state.

Najib not master of his own house?

    By Lim Kit Siang

KUALA LUMPUR: Is the continued seizure of 35,000 copies of the Bible in Bahasa Malaysia 30,000 copies in Kuching Port and 5,000 copies in Port Klang another example that the Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak is not master of his own house and the hollowness of his 1Malaysia policy?

It is four days since the Christian Federation of Malaysia (CFM) has come out with a statement expressing that it is greatly disillusioned, fed-up and angered by the repeated detention of Bibles written in our national language, Bahasa Malaysia.

The CFM chairman Bishop Ng Boon Hing and its executive committee in a joint statement on Thursday revealed the power of the Little Napoleons in the bureaucracy which could even thwart and veto the prime ministers order for the release of the Christian scriptures in Bahasa Malaysia.

Why has there been no action by Najib to ensure that his order to release the 5,000 Bibles in Bahasa Malaysia held in Port Klang since March 2009 are complied with without any more delay or hassle?

Instead, we have a home ministry official justifying the seizure of the Bibles in Bahasa Malaysia on the ground that it was based on a Cabinet decision made a quarter of a century ago in 1986.

However, despite the Cabinet decision in 1986, there had been no insuperable problem with the import of Bibles in Bahasa Malaysia for the next two decades.

The prime minister in 1986 was Dr Mahathir Mohamad but it was during the premiership of Abdullah Ahmad Badawi that the 1986 Cabinet decision became a most polarising issue, not only in Peninsular Malaysia but extending to Sabah and Sarawak as well, seriously undermining national unity and harmony.

    Test of Najibs authority

Are the concerns a! nd fears that Malays may be proselytised to become Christians if Bibles in Bahasa Malaysia are allowed really valid and genuine as to justify the belated implementation of the 1986 Cabinet decision two decades later?

Can the authorities furnish statistics of how many Malays were converted to Christianity in the two decades from 1986?

It would appear that although Najib is the prime minister, he is working under the shadow of the fourth prime minister whose 1986 Cabinet decision has greater power and authority than the order from the current prime minister.

The prohibition of the use of Bibles in Bahasa Malaysia for Malaysian Christians, particularly those who are educated in the Bahasa Malaysia medium in the national education system, makes double mockery of Najibs 1Malaysias nation-building policy as well as the Constitutional guarantee of freedom of religion.

Now, even the authority of Najib as prime minister is under question whether he is master in his own house or beholden and subject to the fourth prime minister for a Cabinet decision made 25 years ago which should not have been made in the first place.

It is a test of Najibs authority as prime minister, his commitment to 1Malaysia policy and the constitutional guarantee of freedom religion whether the prime minister could ensure the release of the 35,000 Bibles in Bahasa Malaysia in Kuching Port and Port Klang without any more delay or hassle.

Sgor nafi hapus kuota perumahan Bumiputera
    Thursday, 24 February 2011 | Ruangan: Berita
