Between a dentist and a frog: Pakatan unfazed by changes in S'gor Umno

Noh, Ezam as well as Khir - brand new dynamics in S'gor UmnoWong Choon Mei, Malaysia Chronicle

Pakatan Rakyat leaders were unfazed during the prospect of renegade colleague Ezam Mohd Noor returning to plea them for carry out of Selangor, right away that former arch minister Khir Toyo has been arrested as well as charged for graft.

Actually, it will have the work easier. Both group have been tainted leaders. One for crime as well as the alternative is the frog, PAS MP for Kota Raja Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud told Malaysia Chrnoicle.

She was referring to Ezam, the former PKR Youth chief, who dumbfounded his celebration by hopping behind to Umno in 2006, citing disillusionment as well as unhappiness with emissary boss Azmin Ali. Indeed, when another former Umno leader Zaid Ibrahim not prolonged ago give up PKR after unwell to beat Azmin for the No. 2 post, there were expectations he too would pull the same Ezam trick.

But Ezam may not be up to the task

The startle detain of Khir had sent ripples around the nation, generally by Selangor Umno. Top upon the minds of most members was who would take over from Khir. The 45-year aged former dentist has resigned as the Selangor antithesis arch as well as questions have been buzzing around locale as to who will right away expostulate Prime Minister Najib Razaks quest to recapture the country's richest state.

Dr Siti - no pulling punches when it comes to KhirThe project of capturing Selangor from Pakatan Rakyat will be placed upon Ezam due to his many contacts in PKR," an Umno source had told Harakahdaily.

Although the source was quick to add that Noh Omar, Khirs emissary as well as the Agriculture minister, was needed during the sovereign level, pundits told Malaysia Chronicle that Najib - who is a! dditiona lly the Umno boss - preferred Ezam to Noh.

Ezams promotion to Senator earlier this year was already Najib's way of signalling that he would be given bigger tasks, the pundits said.

But not all that glitters is bullion as well as Ezams former colleagues during PKR do not share Najibs certainty in his ability.

Ezam could not even classify the girl transformation when he was the wings arch in PKR. He left the girl transformation in complete disarray. When Shamsul (Iskandar Akin) took over after Ezam left, he had to start from scratch. we disbelief Ezam has the capacity to lead Umnos Selangor takeover bid, PKR clamp boss Fuziah Salleh told Malaysia Chronicle.

Khir's group burst ship

Nonetheless, conjecture remains red-hot that Ezam will shortly be declared the Umno liaison arch for Selangor. He is additionally expected to be tasked to expand the People's Volunteer Corps or Rela in the state so that Umno could have make use of of brand new recruits to pose as voters during the elections.

Fuziah - he left PKR Youth in the messThis has been accomplished successfully in Terengganu in 2004 after the voter audience rose by 95 percent, the source had warned.

Meanwhile, Khir's supporters have been starting to complain about his detain to the tip Umno leadership. Due to 5 decades of undeviating domestic dominance, Umno has ruled Malaysia with audacity as well as the fist of iron. It occasionally punishes its leaders despite blatant evidence of corruption.

Khir's camp, that has the most to remove from his fall from grace, have been right away trying to find brand new ships to burst onto, while lambasting Najib for making Khir "a scapegoat" for snap general elections at large expected to be called early subsequent year.

The preference to press charges opposite Khir is seen by male Malaysians as an "election gimmick" to create the feel-good ca! use as w ell as to revive flagging public certainty in Najib's leadership.

Khir was charged for crime under Section 165 of the Penal Code to one side company executive Shamsuddin Haryoni. He is indicted of having accepted bribes from Shamsuddin by buying dual plots of land in Section 7, Shah Alam, during the outrageous discount. The land was used to build his mansion, popularly well known as Bali Castle. If found guilty, he can be fined or locked up up to the limit of dual years.

Nonetheless, many Malaysians smell the "brokered deal" as well as have plainly questioned why he was not charged for some of the some-more critical graft complaints lodged opposite him.

"Khir's group have been held in between. No doubt, he may have worked it out with Najib though his supporters have lost even some-more belligerent than before. They know he is accomplished as well as has to go upon prolonged domestic leave. To survive, they have to find brand new leaders to fasten onto - not that they similar to him, though no matter how, they feel they have been the ones who have lost the most since of his downfall," an Umno watcher told Malaysia Chronicle.

DAP wants clarification on Anwar’s ‘black-eye’ probe

By Clara Chooi
The Malaysian Insider
December 07, 2010

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 7 — The DAP has demanded a clarification from the Najib administration on its commitment to reopen the infamous Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim “black-eye” incident, accusing Cabinet ministers of making contradictory statements.

Party adviser Lim Kit Siang questioned today if Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein had usurped the responsibility given to his Cabinet colleague Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Aziz to handle the matter by declaring last week that the case was closed.

“Did he just make irrelevant Nazri Aziz’s assurance to Parliament that the Cabinet wants to investigate the new allegations made on the case by speaking with those implicated, including the Attorney-General himself and the former Inspector-General of Police (IGP)?” Lim told The Malaysian Insider today.

The veteran politician was referring to a letter he had received from Hishammuddin on December 2 where the minister denied any discrepancy in the 1998 “black-eye” case involving Anwar and declared that there was no need to reopen investigations despite fresh allegations of evidence fabrication made by a former investigating officer.

Hishammuddin, writing in response to Lim’s questions on the matter during the debate in Parliament on the ministry’s 2011 budget earlier, also told the Ipoh Timor MP that the police had completed their checks on the old investigation and had found no reason to suggest that false evidence had been given.

Lim had raised in Parliament the issue of former KL CID chief Datuk Mat Zain Ibrahim, the investigating officer in Anwar’s assault case, who had revealed in an open letter to the new IGP Tan Sri Ismail Omar on October 8 that he had new information on the “black-eye incident” which implicated A-G Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail and former IGP Tan Sri Musa Hassan.

Following Mat Zain’s revelations, the Najib administration had instructed two Cabinet ministers — Nazri and Datuk Seri Utama Dr Rais Yatim — to question Abdul Gani on the matter.

Nazri, a minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, told The Malaysian Insider two weeks ago that the Cabinet wanted to hear an explanation from the country’s top lawyer before taking any action on the matter.

But Hishammuddin’s intervention on the issue has now cast doubt on the government’s stand on the matter, raising questions on whether the administration had already brushed it aside.

In his letter to Lim, the minister had insisted that that despite Mat Zain’s allegations, the former police officer’s open letter had not contained any elements of incitement, defamation, criminal intimidation and was not vulgar to trigger any police investigation.

Lim piled pressure on the government however today and urged Nazri to respond quickly on the matter.

“If he (Nazri) had indeed been instructed to enquire into the matter by meeting with the A-G and the former IGP, then why was there such a reply from the home minister?

“There is a need for a clarification from Nazri as to whether these Cabinet ministers know what they are talking about,” he said.

Lim added that Hishammuddin’s nonchalance on the issue showed the minister’s disinterest and his intention to brush the case aside.

“He has avoided the serious allegations made that there was a fabrication of evidence.

“In his letter to me, he did not refer to the course of the proceedings and he only spoke about the conviction of (former IGP Tan Sri) Rahim Noor. What about the intervening course of events?

“Hishammuddin had averted them,” he said.

In his letter, Hishammuddin had pointed out to Lim that Rahim’s persecution in the case had been just and based on proof uncovered during the investigation.

“He was charged in court under section 323 of the Penal Code and he had pleaded guilty to the charge,” he wrote.

Lim flayed the minister for clearly avoiding the actual issue at hand and urged the government to show its commitment to settling the issue once and for all.

“Will they reopen investigations? It will have a great bearing on public confidence.

“It is not just about professionalism, it is about showing your commitment to the criminal justice system,” he said.

Lim added that irregardless of whether Mat Zain’s revelations were true, the government had to take action.

“An independent commission has to be set up to get to the bottom of the allegations.

“If it is a case of Mat Zain committing perjury, then action still has to be taken. But if his allegations are true, then, similarly, action must be taken against those implicated,” he said.

In his letter to Lim, Hishammuddin had also claimed that the country’s criminal justice system had not gone “topsy-turvy” as a result of the “black-eye incident” as claimed by the veteran politician.

“The principle of separation of powers allows the police to carry out their duty to investigate crime while the A-G’s Chambers is responsible to persecute criminals and the court’s function is to provide a space to hear and discuss these trials,” he said.

Hishammuddin claimed that all three arms of the government played their respective roles to ensure there were no disruptions in the country’s criminal justice system.

The Sembrong MP also pointed out to Lim that to date, no police reports had been lodged on Mat Zain’s open letter, which has been spread across the Internet.

In his open letter on October 8, Mat Zain had claimed that an independent panel that cleared Abdul Gani and Musa of fabricating evidence in the incident was unconstitutional and accused the country’s top lawyer of deceiving the Cabinet over the independent panel.

He said there was no need for any royal commission of inquiry on the matter as the police were capable of resolving the case themselves.

Mat Zain also revealed that there had been an agreement between Rahim, former Deputy IGP Tan Sri Norian Mai as well as Mat Zain on October 8, 1998 at 2.30pm that there would be “complete closure” to the black-eye case.

“It is important that I note that Rahim Noor was ready to take full responsibility in the black-eye incident, and his decision was made of his own accord,” said Mat Zain.

“The closure of the case had been agreed to be done professionally, above board.”

Mat Zain said that Rahim was prepared to step down after the closure of the black-eye incident.
“But I found out that about 5pm to 5.30pm on the same day, Allahyarham (the late) Tan Sri Mohtar Abdullah, along with the then-Datuk Abdul Gani Patail (now Tan Sri), had met with Rahim Noor at his office. At 6pm, I was then told by Tan Sri Norian to ‘continue investigations like normal’.

“I then understood that the agreement that we had reached mere hours ago had been cancelled. I was shocked and upset, but who was I to say anything at the time,” said Mat Zain.

The former policeman also accused Abdul Gani of falsifying testimonies relating to the black-eye incident.

He said the longer the case remained unresolved, the longer innocent officers would be accused of being involved in a cover-up of the case.

In July 2008, Anwar filed a police report accusing Abdul Gani, Mat Zain, Musa (then a senior investigation officer in 1998) and Dr Abdul Rahman Yusof of falsifying a medical report on his black-eye case.

Rahim, the IGP in 1998, had admitted he assaulted Anwar following a royal commission of inquiry probe in 1999.

He has since been convicted of the crime and sentenced to two months’ jail and a fine of RM2,000. Rahim has completed his sentence.

300Ribu Anggota RELA akan Di Daftar Sebagai Pengundi POS Untuk Menawan SELANGOR

Maklumat ni TB dah lama dapat. Cumanya, ianya hanya sekadar cadangan sahaja.

NAUZUBILLAH!!!

WAJIB PROTES UNDI POS

BNs illness wrongly diagnosed by quack doctor

It appears Najib should have asked Dr Azizah rather than Dr M Mariam Mokhtar, Malaysia Chronicle

It appears which former Prime apportion Dr. Mahathir Mohamad has sidelined Perkasa, during slightest for a time being; it contingency be politically expedient to do so since a hazard of a ubiquitous election is looming.

But did Dr Mahathir also have to offer medical consultations as well as give a clinical diagnosis too? It has been awhile since he last practised as well as a risk of his prognosis being wrong, is high.

But which is precisely what contingency have transpired, for during a BN convention, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak proceeded to remind his BN component parties of their 4 political diseases. These, he said, were delusion, amnesia, inertia as well as arrogance.

Surely a impostor alloy has mis-diagnosed or else Najib got these wrong?

Shouldnt a 4 political diseases be corruption, nepotism, cronyism as well as racism?

It only shows which Najib should not have consulted which impostor alloy but should have gone to a correct M.D., or perhaps he should have been seen Dr. Wan Azizah Wan Ismail. She would have sorted him out as well as put him right!

Najib, a BN chairman, as well as also prime minister, was right to advise a BN component parties which these insidious dangers have brought other long-standing powerhouses down to their knees.

He is correct. Political parties which have been infirm with corruption, nepotism, cronyism as well as injustice will finish up critically ill. Or die.

And if Najib does not take a sour pill to heal himself of these ailments, he would falter, too, as well as should design a worst.

It appears which Najib does understand a seriousness of a situation. He was means to realize which a 4 diseases customarily hit parties which held energy for as well long! .

He said, The fact is parties which have been in energy for as well prolonged frequency simulate on their weaknesses. So a 4 diseases need to be prevented prior to adore turns to hate, goal turns to annoy as well as await turns to dissent.

Najib might have been lapsing in as well as out of alertness but he is right. He was means to commend which .parties which have been in energy as well prolonged frequency simulate on their weaknesses.

And which is precisely what has happened in this case Umno, which has been in energy for as well prolonged now simply does not commend its weaknesses.

Maybe a impostor alloy knows something we dont as well as is refusing to discuss it Najib since those political diseases have been essentially terminal, if treatment is not sought quickly enough.

Leaping to nowhere

Malaysia is a small country with big plans NEM, GTP, ETP. Lump them all together and we get a fantastic result: a developed nation. It is nothing less than a quantum leap into the future. These goals can be attained. Just focus on them. It is a journey that all the government, the private sector and the people must undertake together. This is a terrific script riddled with holes. The government is standing on shaky ground, the private sector is parking its money elsewhere and the people have grown so wearied of all the lies, injustices and greed that they would rather go their own way than jump on the rickety bandwagon. It is only the emperor and all his court jesters who believe in their own tall tales.

While all the talk is about a better future, it is clear to all that the carrots thrown at the people are mere baits to entice them to vote the same old puffy party into power yet again. The boastful presentations and declarations are a camouflage to distract public attention from the harsh realities of the Malaysian political and social environment. Behind the facade is a grim picture of a society divided into hostile enclaves and ready to take the country down the road to the abyss. Generating wealth and staying united are furthest from their fevered minds. The ideal conditions to turn Malaysia into a flourishing land are simply not there.

Uppermost in the minds of the dominant race is supremacy and not economic prosperity. The doctrine of supremacy is more important than the blueprint of development. Staying at the top of the social ladder is more crucial than seeing the economic pie being shared equally. Hurling threats against others whose forefathers have enriched the soil with their toil and sweat is a more cherished pursuit than carving out the perfect map for growth. At every turn, the cry that filled the la! nd carri es with it strong hints of violence. It is as if the battle lines are drawn and all it needs is a spark to set off an inferno.

Politics, and not economics, permeates the life of the people. Worse still, politics, race and religion have become the major theme and a stumblingblock to real progress. Umno plays all three cards with relish and gusto to advance its own agenda and at the same time to browbeat those of other races and faiths. It pays lip service to the gospel of peace and harmony. Its elite leaders will not soil their hands to make a point on race or religion. They leave it to the hot-tempered, emotionally charged supporters to do the dirty job while they stand afar and watch the spectacle with delight and satisfaction.

Tempers are running high. Tension is escalating given that both sides are sharpening their electoral weapons for the battle ahead. Umno (forget the other lifeless partners) will turn up the heat with its dangerous political gameship and may even throw caution to the wind in its lust for power. The country is feeling the jitters knowing that a party desperate to hold on to its seat may whip up an all-consuming storm that will destroy everything in its path. In this state of chaos, not even the opposition can hope to stay alive. It too will be reduced to ashes. These are scary prospects and not even the opium of development can do much to soothe frightened minds.

The journey to economic prosperity cannot start against a background of political brinkmanship, religious fanaticism and racial bigotry. While the country is becoming a seething cauldron of passion and emotion, it is near impossible to be level-headed and hardnosed about taking the economy to the next phase of transformation. It is pointless to expound on the merits of all those economic programmes when conditions on the ground are not conducive to their advancement. But Umno does not see it this way. In the threat of chaos, Umno sees opportunities to make money. In the shadow of fear, it sees potentia! l for be ating people to submission. In the miasma of gloominess, it sees a means to keep the country in thrall.

Economic models cannot be built on sand. They cannot be created out of false hopes. They cannot be plucked out of bad dreams. They must be constructed on solid foundation. They must be supported by cold facts and figures. They must take into account public sentiment which is anything but pro-development. The mood of the people is turning ugly, especially those rallying around the flagpole of supremacy. The supremacists are not bothered about planting the seeds of prosperity to earn higher income. They are more concerned with making sure other races do not stand taller than them. They are baying for blood. Umno is not helping to douse the fire but fuelling it with its virulent attacks on the opposition. The upshot? NEM, GTP, ETP will all go up in smoke.

Anwar - BN's polls 'sandiwara' not 'real change'....

Anwar Ibrahim said that the slew of good news coming from BN recently were merely an attempt to win votes ahead of polls and not address the core problems faced by the country.

He was referring to the authorities decision to charge former Selangor Menteri Besar Dr Mohd Khir Toyo for graft, the resignation of MIC president S Samy Vellu and the announcement that the Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) will be recognised by teacher training colleges.

These three events took place yesterday. For Anwar, they were an attempt by BN to address grouses of the Malay, Chinese and Indian communities ahead of the 13th general elections, rumoured to be held early next year.

The difference with Pakatan Rakyat is, we consider these to be policies and will cannot be given as piecemeal (to different groups) to lull them (into supporting us).

For example, there are many cases of corruption but they were put aside. But only one case (saw action taken). Eric Cheah was arrested over the Perwaja Scandal before the last general elections. It is actions like these that does not bringing about real change, he told reporters after officiating a seminar on Maal Hijrah.

Anwar said the government should address all issues affecting the rakyat, regardless of whether the problems involve the Malays, Chinese or Indians, or the land issues affecting the indigenous communities of Sabah and Sarawak. He promised that under a Pakatan administration, the rule of law would be enforced, corruption will be rooted out and the judiciary would be made independent in order to bring change to the country.

Anwar said that currently, the criminal justice system practices selective prosecution and this cannot be allowed to continue.

Some people can be gullible, probably s! wayed by the prosecution (of Mohd Khir), but we will remind them, that before the election there would be one prosecution involving a VIP, and there would be some concession to the Chinese, Malays or Indians. This is Umno and BN's pattern. They would give some leeway to the MCA to say certain things but the essence is, it is Ketuanan Melayu (Malay supremacy) and not Ketuanan Rakyat (People's supremacy), not rule of law and distributive justice, he said.

Meanwhile, Penang CM,Lim said despite all the gimmicks by BN come election time, the BN cannot answer the most basic question of why it rejects Ketuanan Rakyat.

Instead it upholds Ketuanan Melayu by Umno, Ketuanan Cina by MCA and Ketuanan India by MIC... I do not know what Gerakan holds... this is the basic question, he said during the same press conference.

Why can't they (BN) accept Ketuanan Rakyat for all. This the most important question, as long as they do not answer this, these gimmicks cannot instil confidence in the people, he added.

Kelantan palace brushes off Ku Lis remarks

Ku Li yesterday urged the federal government to intervene in the Kelantan palace crisis. file picKOTA BARU, Dec 7 Comptroller of the Kelantan Royal Household Datuk Abdul Halim Hamad said the remark by Gua Musang MP Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah on the palace crisis was his personal view.

He added the position of Sultan Muhammad V as the Sultan of Kelantan had been affirmed by the Federal Court.

I have not received any directives to issue a statement in response to the remark (by Tengku Razaleigh), he told reporters after the opening of the state-level Maal Hijrah by Sultan Muhammad V, here last night.

Yesterday, Tengku Razaleigh, a former finance minister, urged the Conference of Rulers, state and federal governments to give serious attention to the palace crisis with the deposed Sultan asserting his right to the throne.

He also produced a letter hand-written by Sultan Ismail Petra who said that he was still the ruler of the state.

Tengku Razaleigh made the statement when asked to comment on the decision of Sultan Muhammad V to withdraw two state awards given to him, believed to be due to the statement he made on the palace issue published by a Chinese daily on September 14. Bernama

Nik Aziz "To Be DPM, Lim Kit Siang Must Potong Lanchau"

'Lim Can Be DPM If He Is Muslim'

v

Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat, regarded as the most influential PAS leader, said DAP's Lim Kit Siang could serve as a future deputy prime minister if he is a devout Muslim.

The PAS spiritual leader who had last week said Lim could become the No 2 in a Pakatan Rakyat government -- should this becomes a reality -- has since explained his stance.

He said other non-Malay candidates could similarly be made a deputy prime minister if they were devout Muslims.

"This is the principle which must be adhered to in constructing a national leadership and ummah," he posted on his blog yesterday.

On Dec 2, Nik Aziz, who is also menteri besar, had brushed aside Pas Dewan Ulama chief Datuk Harun Taib objection to Parti Keadilan Rakyat de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim nominating Lim as the deputy prime minister if Pakatan won the general election.

Nik Aziz had reportedly said Harun was merely expressing his view.

After Anwar said in an interview in a Chinese newspaper that Lim would be deputy prime minister, Harun had explained to the New Straits Times that Anwar had no right to proclaim anyone as deputy prime minister, especially when the general election had not been held.

Anwar had previously said that he would create two deputy prime minister posts -- one for DAP and Pas -- if Pakatan took over the government.

Nik Aziz said he had repeatedly stated that the post of Kelantan menteri besar could be filled by a Chinese on condition that the candidate was a pious Muslim.

"Any pious Muslim, even if he is a non-Malay, is more beneficial to the nation than that of a corrupt Malay," he said, adding that "this is the principle of Islam. Under Islamic policy, anyone can be leaders".

He said he had consistently held the stance that neither Malay, Chinese nor Indians carried additional values in Islam unless they held absolute faith in Allah.

Leaping to nowhere

NEW Malaysia is a small country with big plans – NEM, GTP, ETP. Lump them all together and we get a fantastic result: a developed nation. It is nothing less than a “quantum leap into the future”. These goals can be attained. Just focus on them. It is a journey that all – “the government, the private sector and the people” – must undertake together. This is a terrific script – riddled with holes.

At every turn, the cry that filled the land carries with it strong hints of violence.

In the shadow of fear, it sees potential for beating people to submission.

Anwar: Pakatan anti-national or BN desperate and insecure?

Anwar - Opposition Leader and Najib's No.1 rival
KUALA LUMPUR — Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim laughed off Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s barrage of stinging attacks against the opposition yesterday, claiming it showed the prime minister was feeling “desperate” and “under siege”.

The opposition leader noted that Najib’s insults, made during his opening speech at the Barisan Nasional (BN) convention yesterday, were not in character for the premier, saying that this was a clear sign that snap polls were around the corner.

“Clearly, he is sounding more desperate and clearly, he feels under siege although the entire instruments of power in government have been directed against me and other Pakatan Rakyat (PR) leaders.

“But here is a prime minister who uses the police, the judiciary and the entire media at his disposal to launch severe personal attacks against me and PR leaders.

“But at the same time, he is feeling under siege,” Anwar (picture) told a press conference in Parliament this morning.

The PR de facto leader was responding to Najib’s speech yesterday when the premier uncharacteristically delivered his hardest-hitting punches yet on his foes in PR.

The prime minister had dedicated a good 20 minutes to attack the opposition, telling the over 2,300 BN delegates gathered at Wisma MCA here that PR leaders were “anti-national” and engaged in “evil activities” and “dangerous”.

“Be wary all, beware all, they are very dangerous. They are willing to sell just about anything, including discrediting Malaysia’s name abroad.

“I would like to explain here that they are anti-national. We must fight them to the end and make sure that this country will not be destroyed by their evil activities,” he had said in his speech.

Najib also levelled sarcastic remarks against PR’s allegations of nepotism in Umno, pointing out that the opposition pact’s PKR and DAP were the ones guilty of such a crime.

The premier made a direct reference to Anwar, pointing out that PKR’s top leadership was crowded out by the former deputy prime minister’s family members.

Anwar is the PKR de facto leader while his wife Datin Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail is PKR president and the couple’s daughter, Lembah Pantai MP Nurul Izzah Anwar, was recently elected a vice-president.

In the DAP, Najib poked fun at the father-and-son teams of DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang and party secretary-general Lim Guan Eng and DAP chairman Karpal Singh and MP Gobind Singh by calling them a “two-family dynasty and hegemony”.

But Anwar scoffed at Najib’s words today, pointing out that the prime minister himself had risen to power because of his father’s power as the former prime minister.

Najib is the eldest son of the country’s second Prime Minister Tun Abdul Razak Hussein.

Unlike the DAP’s Lim family, Anwar said, Najib had an easy transition in his scramble for political power as he had ridden on his father’s post.

“Guan Eng, now the Penang Chief Minister, had moved from a grassroots leader and he suffered in the process, even imprisoned for his principles and then elected by popular mandate.

“He was not just put there simply because he was the son of the prime minister to be a candidate in parliamentary elections.

“So for Najib to speak like that is, to my mind, shocking,” he said.

Anwar also slammed Najib for accusing the opposition of being “anti-national” and questioned if the struggle to combat corruption and racism was considered “anti-national”.

“We even submit ourselves to the Constitution. All three parties in PR signed a declaration, committing ourselves to constitutional guarantees.

“We disagree with Umno’s cronyism and corruption, and although I am a Malay myself, I detest the idea of using the race card to appeal to the popular Malays while making the poor workers, the rubber tappers, feel that they are ‘tuan’. And yet, the few very rich Malays squander away and amass wealth by the billions,” he said, referring to the ongoing row over the concept of “Malay supremacy”.

He added that by rejecting the concept, it did not mean he was “anti-Malay”.

PAS vice-president Datuk Mahfuz Omar agreed with Anwar that Najib’s latest attacks on the opposition was a clear sign that the prime minister was feeling anxious of the people’s support for PR.

“I thank him because indirectly, his attack on PKR and PR shows that he is sending a clear message to the people that PR is a coalition for the future of Malaysia,” he said.

Talent Corp: Another white elephant?

Mariam Mokhtar, Malaysia Chronicle

Talent Corporation. The horse has bolted, the carrot’s rotten and there’s an elephant in the room.

The latest initiative to attract and retain talent as well as to woo the 700,000 Malaysians working abroad, is easier said than done.

Prime Minister Najib Razak said that Talent Corporation would start to operate from 1 January 2011 whence it would try to locate and engage the overseas talent.

But how? He has not said how Talent Corporation proposes to do this. Many Malaysians do not register at the High Commission of the country when they are working, studying or living in, when abroad.

Are these homesick Malaysians supposed to contact Talent Corporation or is it the other way around?

If we were to assume that Malaysians return and take up jobs with wages, seniority, perks, promotion prospects and all the other accompanying features like health care, housing etc that are comparable with what is received overseas, what does Najib propose to do about the elephant in the room?

That elephant of course represents the social side of things, the things that have little to do with the workplace but has everything to do with his lifestyle and his family.

Will Najib sort out the education system and offer the children of these families a first class education that is based on meritocracy and is not quota driven?

Add to that all those things that we cherish, like non-raced based policies and institutions, transparency, freedom to worship (including for the Malays) and freedom of expression.

Najib cannot ignore how Malaysians do not tolerate corruption in its various institutions – the police, the judiciary and the various government departments. How will he deal with these when the Malaysia Anti-Corruption Agency, is itself compromised?

Many of those who return may have married foreigners. What sort of guarantees will Najib give the spouses so they can remain in Malaysia and work without hassle from immigration?

As a number of Malaysians want to live out the rest of their lives at home, how will he guarantee that the foreign half can have leave to remain indefinitely in Malaysia? Many of them will by then, have only the one home - in Malaysia.

Is Najib aware that whatever policy he announces, hardly filters down the management line? Communication within his government ministries is bad.

Many remain sceptical about Najib’s new proposals. They know that the country is very good with plans but that when it comes to execution, that is a major stumbling block.

Will Najib get rid of racism, sexism, corruption, nepotism, cronyism and the ISA? How prepared is he to dismantle the Ketuanan Melayu concept as well as the New Economic Policy?

He can entice Malaysians home only if takes positive measures to ensure a free and democratic society.

DAP tells Taib to heed Najib's advice

By Joseph Tawie

KUCHING: Sarawak’s Chief Minister Abdul Taib Mahmud should listen to the advice of Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak and discard the “four ailments”, namely delusion, amnesia, inertia and arrogance, if Barisan Nasional wants to continue to weild its iron-tight power in the state.

DAP treasurer Violet Yong said the 'four ailments' were as rampant in the Taib administration and was turning the people against BN.

“There are enough examples for delusionary acts by the state government. The construction of the 12 dams is an example of delusion and the arrogance of the state government.

“The dams are irresponsible and unnecessary. By constructing the dams, Taib is going against the people’s desire. He does not care about the sufferings as a result of them being displaced.

“He thinks he is the government and that he has the power to do what he likes,” said Yong, who is the state assemblywoman for Pending.

She said that if the state BN government is a people-friendly administration, then it should stop building the dams.

“The government is yet to resolve the issue of displaced people from the Bakun dam development. These affected people should have been settled first.

"The government should have come up with a proper scheme in order to improve their livelihood and their income level.

"But they have not done this. They have allowed the people to suffer. Look at the natives at Sungai Asap, and how they have suffered as a result of the Bakun dam,” she said.

Yong said Taib had forgotten the primary thrust of the 1Malaysia concept which was ‘people first, performance now’.

She said as far as the BN government in Sarawak was concerned it was "people last and pockets first.”

Land grabs

She said another sore point with the people was BN's arrogance in grabbing native customary rights land belonging to the people.

"Taib must listen to Najib’s advice, otherwise what Najib is saying would be just another slogan in order to hoodwink the people," she said.

Yong was responding to Najib's advice to BN component parties to rid themselves of the “four ailments” before the people’s love for the BN turned into hatred, hope into anger, and support towards opposition.

Touching on the withdrawal of fuel and sugar subsidies, she sarcastically said it was "BN's gift to the people" for giving them victories in the two recent by-elections.

“This is a gift by the BN government. This is the price you have to pay for supporting BN,” she said.

Yong believed the recent price hike in the raw materials was unreasonable and one that will have a great impact on the poor people. Sarawak is the fourth poorest state in Malaysia.

“It is unreasonable, because the government has not come out with a balance policy which will help the lower income group to meet the price hike,” she added.

'Traitor' taking over from 'Thief' ?

Ezam to take over from Khir, will lead Umno's S'gor takeover bid

Ezam and Khir - both unpopular with doubtful records
SHAH ALAM - With the surprise prosecution, and consequently, fall from grace of former Selangor Menteri Besar Mohd Khir Toyo, speculation is rife that former PKR Youth chief Ezam Noor will helm UMNO Selangor in what many describe is UMNO's gratitude for his relentless condemnations of his former boss Anwar Ibrahim.

A source from UMNO told Harakahdaily that current UMNO president Najib Razak had been at the forefront of efforts to have Ezam as a member in the party's state liason committee.

“Ezam was touted as the UMNO leader in Selangor because there are no other figures more reliable in Najib's eyes.

"After all, Noh Omar is still needed by Najib at the federal level," said the source, referring to Noh, the Agriculture and Agro-based Industry minister who is UMNO Selangor's deputy chairman.

"So the project of capturing Selangor from Pakatan Rakyat will be placed on Ezam due to his many contacts in PKR," it added.

Earlier today, Khir was charged for corruption under Section 165 of the Penal Code alongside company director Shamsuddin Haryoni.

The case is related to his palatial residence in Shah Alam. Khir allegedly took bribe in form of two plots of land in Section 7, Shah Alam, for his mansion, popularly known as ‘Bali Castle’, at a substantial discount from Shamsuddin. The latter had allegedly abetted with Khir by selling him two plots of lands in 2007, which he bought for RM6.5 million in 2004, for just RM3.5 million. They were both released on RM750,000 bail respectively.

'Rela plan underway'

The source said Ezam's appointment as Selangor UMNO's liasion chief, a position currently held by Najib himself, was a matter of time

“Selangor is of utmost importance to BN because its economy can help strengthen UMNO,” said the source.

Another source even said that the fear by Pakatan Rakyat that the membership of the controversial People's Volunteer Corps (Rela) would be boosted in Selangor to engineer a BN victory was not unfounded.

The source said the plan to boost Rela membership by 300,000 next year would likely materialise because plans had been underway to capture the state through the equally controversial 'postal votes', and added that the process of absorbing Rela members as voters was "being conducted secretly".

“This has been done successfully in Terengganu in 2004 after the voter turnout rose by 95 percent,” it told Harakahdaily

Khir in the dock: Pakatan leaders not buying it

SHAH ALAM - Selangor's former Menteri Besar Mohd Khir Toyo was today dragged to justice alongwith a association executive for crime charges related to his large mansion in Shah Alam, but PR leaders are not congratulating a supervision just yet.

Khir as well as Ditamas Sdn Bhd executive Shamsuddin Haryoni were charged underneath Section 165 of a Penal Code, for accepting cheat in a form of dual plots of land in Section 7, Shah Alam, for his magnificent residence during a estimable discount from Shamsuddin.

Shamsudin was alleged to abet Khir by selling him dual plots of lands, which he paid for for RM6.5 million for just RM3.5 million.

Both pleaded not guilty as well as were set free upon RM750,000 bail.

However, a latest prosecution of a single of Selangor's many senior UMNO leaders failed to stir Pakatan Rakyat leaders, who dismissed it as a pre-election ploy by Barisan Nasional.

Among those jealous a Attorney General's frankness was DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang.

Believe it or not? Khir Toyo crime case, AG (said) delay due to thorough probe, he twitted about Khir's surprise day in court, calling it a pre-general election drama.

DAP's Pasir Pinji state assemblyman, Thomas Su pronounced Khir should nap soundly over a preference of a open prosecutor in a case, Abdul Razak Musa, a chairman who became a aim of jokes following his self-strangling action during a Teoh Beng Hocks inquest to prove a indicate that a action was possible.

Khir Toyo must be a happy man to have him. Will there be more clown's act? Thomas posted upon Twitter.

Recalling a crime cases involving Perwaja steel as well as former UMNO Supreme Council part of Norza Zakaria, PAS's Titiwangsa MP Dr Lo Lo Ghazali put up a design of pessimism, observant a imminent hearing would finish up as an additional show.

PKR's former deputy president Dr Syed Husin Ali questioned whether Khir woul! d be cha rged for alternative crime charges instead of just only upon a squeeze of a land for his palace.

PKR's Communication executive Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad pronounced a pierce to assign Khir could be a pointer that BN had realised that a former MB was a liability to Barisan Nasional in its bid to recapture a state in a next election.

Another pointer snap polls soon, he added, echoing identical conclusions by multiform alternative PR leaders.

Cheek Bones Reading on Bik Mama

from A Little Taffer's Room

Reading cheeks

It's not desirable for a female to have high, prominent cheekbones - especially when coupled with a high, strong and bony nose. It means a controlling and domineering personality, one that will 'control' the husband too much.

If you look carefully at Rosmah's cheekbones, you would notice that they are quite high, with a bonynose in the middle. What's more, you can see how over the top she is compared to other PM wives. And lastly, you can say Najib is kia-bor...!

Amnesia

From The Malaysian Insider, Najib warns of four BN diseases, stating that these would fuel hatred and anger against the government if ignored.

One was ‘amnesia’.

So Muhyiddin warned against amnesia,

and Hishamuddin reminded us against amnesia,

ditto with Chua Soi Lek - he warned against amnesia,

Me too me too, Koh Tsu Koon kong amnesia boe hoe ay,

Dei tambi, I am still president until midnight 05 December 2010, so Samy Vellu also warned against amnesia, …….. and so the boss’ warning was aped faithfully down the ranks.

Flash back - on 10 November 2007
Peaceful Bersih crowd at Masjid Jamek was tear-gas-ed.

Following that, the 08 March 2008 tsunami occurred.

Nearly 3 years later - on 05 December 2010, a peaceful Pakatan Rakyat rally at the Masjid Negara was tear-gas-ed.

Ooops, amnesia?

What next .... ok, use the 2007's example as a guide.

Don’t Change Your Country, Change Your Government

Malaysia For All

A very inspiring and notable tweet from YB Hannah Yeoh yesterday prompted me to put up this posting.

@hannahyeoh Just heard news another young lawyer friend will b migrating 2Australia.Young people, don’t lose hope.Dont change ur country, change ur govt!

This country is at its worst since Merdeka in terms of education, human rights, corruptions while the institutions are not performing their duties, without fear or favor, entrusted upon them but to abide by the calls of the ruling elite.

We see how this country fared from being the best in Asia to become the worst in the bottom half. All along what we can see is that the government is simply happy to be the best among the worst but not striving to gain the best among the best status.

Other than the economic disaster, a real threat of being bankrupt by 2019, racial and religious issues are just waiting to explode, if the government is still reluctant to face and deal with it head on but allowing it to simmer, all in the good name of sensitivity.

Each Prime Minister, upon taking reign will always come out with their own individual slogan calling for these and that but at the end of the day, it failed miserably, the situations get worst economically, on racial disunity and religious intolerance, the institutions becoming just “yes man” to the power that be.

All these slogans, be it economy or unity plans has one thing in common, they are all crafted out based on political impudent. I have yet to see one that is successfully implemented or sustainable over a reasonable period of time. All we can see are billions of ringgit lost through leakages and corruptions, these are the only plans that are successful and sustained over all these years since independence.

The present PM’s economy plans and his unity call of 1Malaysia are superb, but just like previous PMs initial euphoria, they will not take roots but will taper off after winning each general election or a new PM takes over.

I fully agree that subsidies have to go but not when these savings are not put into proper use or for the benefits of the rakyat, instead into ego and pride monstrous projects. Spending millions to engage foreign consultants are an insult and show disrespect of our own rakyat’s capability. For all we know there may be leakages and corruptions along the way.

Without looking into and rectifying these glaring issues, such as, maintaining the ‘ketuanan melayu’ mentality, discrimination, adulterated education system, allowing hidden hands to sow racial hatred and religious intolerant with impunity, censoring of freedom of speech and democratic process, maintaining inhuman acts such as the ISA, OSA plus other outdated acts, incapable of serious fight against corruptions and the institutions acting and behaving above the law, all the PM’s plans and promises will simply not work.

The very sore thing about the ruling government, by allowing all these to continue, is, they are treating the rakyat as fools. They are not sincere in whatever they said or promises but only with superficial grant to bait for gullible voters to vote them in again and again.

Thousands upon thousands had left this country and thousands more will be leaving, simply because they are not being able to attain and achieve what a normal citizen in any country would have.

One thing the rakyat always forget is that, they have the power and mean to elect a clean and good government that will abide by the oath taken, guided by the law and Constitution and governed the country without fear or favor.

As what YB Hannah Yeoh tweeted, why do you need to change your country when you can changed the bad under performing government that are tainted with racist, arrogant and corrupt leaders.

You are migrating because the other country is offering you what you cannot get as a citizen from your own country. Fair enough, but, did it occur to you that if you stay back, help to fight the change for a better government, you might find that your future may be better and brighter than the country you intended to migrate to.

So, use your voting power to take back your country and demand what belongs to you as a citizen of this country.

Nothing is ever too late, if we have the heart and mind to see it through. The 13th GE is the best opportunity for us, to see the change that we had yearned for all these years.

Young people, don’t lose hope. Don’t change your country, change your government! Together, we can DO IT !

Please stay! Sabah PKR leaders urge Jeffrey

By Luke Rintod

KOTA KINABALU: Senior Sabah PKR leaders tried their utmost to convince Jeffrey Kitingan to continue to help lead the beleaguered party at a gathering in Tuaran last night.

The informal meeting, attended by the party's top guns, was hosted by Dusun community strongman and former senator Kalakau Untol at his residence.

Outgoing state liaison chief Ahmad Thamrin Jaini, newly-elected supreme council member Dr Roland Chia, Tawau division chief Kong Hong Ming, veteran politician Karim Ghani and scores of other leaders, urged Jeffrey to continue leading the opposition's struggle.

Jeffrey, who was present, said he was there 'just to meet friends and tell them that he will continue the struggle in his own way”.

Recently, Jeffrey, the younger brother of Deputy Chief Minister and PBS president Joseph Pairin, said he was unhappy with the way PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim had handled various issues relating to Sabah and Sarawak.

'I'm not going to accept any appointed post anymore,' Jeffrey told the gathering, effectively ruling himself out not only from being reappointed vice-president but also from the post currently held by Ahmad Thamrin.

A visibly dejected supporter of the maverick politician said: 'I don't know what to say. It looks like he is leaving anyway, but let's wait and see over the next several weeks...'

Meanwhile, Karim, who quit Umno recently to cross over to the opposition, was among those who believed Jeffrey's leadership was needed not only by PKR but also by the Kadazandusun community in Sabah and other native groups in Sarawak.

Backstabbers singing different tune

At least six PKR divisional heads were reported to have turned up last night, including from the east coast of Sabah. A PKR leader, who requested anonymity, said that the gathering's sole purpose was to convince Jeffrey not to abandon PKR.

He also took a swipe at the presence of these divisional leaders.

'Many of these leaders, who had appealed for a closing of ranks, were responsible for getting Jeffrey sidelined by the top leadership,' he alleged.

PKR strongman Daniel John Jambun, who was suspended for his part in registering and withdrawing Parti Cinta Sabah last year, also criticised them for just wanting to ride on Jeffrey's coattails.

'All they want is to ride on him,' he said in a text message to FMT.

Another leader said many of those present last night had stabbed Jeffrey in the back numerous times.

'Ahmad Thamrin himself was not very helpful to Jeffrey's struggle for an autonomous Sabah, but last night he sounded different.

'Suddenly he has realised the importance of Jeffrey's struggle. This is amusing. I don't know whether to cry or laugh,' he said.

Others who spoke were Kalakau, Karim, Kong, and Ahmad Thamrin, besides Edward Linggu who acted as organising chairman.

Earlier, Jeffrey reminded the gathering that Sabahans have been at the receiving end of Kuala Lumpur politics ever since they became Malaysians in 1963.

'We have been played out by those in Kuala Lumpur, many times,' he said.

Gelombang rakyat bersama Pakatan tumbangkan BN

Khalid hopes charge against Khir 'for real'

By Syed Jaymal Zahiid

KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim urged the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to be 'genuine' in its legal action against his predecessor, Dr Mohd Khir Toyo, who was charged with alleged land fraud today.

'I hope the MACC does a good job because there is no point just charging people and (then they get away).

'The prosecution must have all the facts to set a good example... corruption and misappropriation are criminal acts and therefore must be dealt with properly,' he told reporters at the Parliament lobby here today.

Khir was charged in relation to allegations of land fraud, involving the construction of his Balinese-themed mansion in Section 7, Shah Alam.

The exposé was first made by DAP assemblyman Ng Suee Lim who claimed that Khir had constructed a mansion at a cost of RM20 million and had purchased the land for RM3.8 million during his tenure as menteri besar.

Khir, who vehemently denied all the claims, said that he took a RM3.5 million loan from an international bank to purchase the property and dismissed allegation that the property cost RM24 million.

He also claimed that he could afford the mansion based on his professional business as a dentist.

'Voters will not forget if charge is bogus'

Asked if he felt that the charge against his rival is just an exercise in formality by the Barisan Nasional government, Khalid said:

'I hope not but anyway, if it is not genuine I think people will remember it for a long time'.

Observers believe the court action against Khir is a way to lend credibility to the Najib administration and is yet another sign of early polls.

Khir was arrested today at his office in Shah Alam and was brought to Shah Alam Sessions Court.

He was charged with committing a land fraud for the purposes of building the mansion, while developer Ditamas Sdn Bhd director Shamsuddin Haryoni was charged with abetting Khir.

Khir's political career maybe over

There is a question mark over Khir's political future. He is currently the Sungai Panjang assemblyman and opposition chief in a Pakatan Rakyat-controlled Selangor.

Conviction for Khir means he will be ineligible to contest for the coming general election, which is widely speculated to be held early next year.

In a climate where the Najib administration is trying hard to rid itself of the stigma of corruption, this could mark the end of Khir's political career.
