| It appears Najib should have asked Dr Azizah rather than Dr M |
It appears that former Prime minister Dr. Mahathir Mohamad has sidelined Perkasa, at least for the time being; it must be politically expedient to do so because the threat of a general election is looming.
But did Dr Mahathir also have to offer medical consultations and give a clinical diagnosis too? It has been awhile since he last practised and the risk of his prognosis being wrong, is high.
But that is precisely what must have transpired, for at the BN convention, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak proceeded to remind his BN component parties of their four “political diseases”. These, he said, were delusion, amnesia, inertia and arrogance.
Surely the quack doctor has mis-diagnosed or else Najib got these wrong?
Shouldn’t the four “political diseases” be corruption, nepotism, cronyism and racism?
It just shows that Najib should not have consulted ‘that’ quack doctor but should have gone to a proper M.D., or perhaps he should have been seen Dr. Wan Azizah Wan Ismail. She would have sorted him out and put him right!
Najib, the BN chairman, and also prime minister, was right to warn the BN component parties that these “insidious dangers have brought other long-standing powerhouses down to their knees.”
He is correct. Political parties that are diseased with corruption, nepotism, cronyism and racism will end up critically ill. Or die.
And if Najib does not take the bitter pill to cure himself of these ailments, he would falter, too, and should expect the worst.
It appears that Najib does understand the seriousness of the situation. He was able to realise that the four diseases usually hit parties which held power for too long.
He said, “The fact is parties that have been in power for too long hardly reflect on their weaknesses. So the four diseases need to be prevented before love turns to hate, hope turns to anger and support turns to dissent.”
Najib may have been lapsing in and out of consciousness but he is right. He was able to recognise that “….parties that have been in power too long hardly reflect on their weaknesses….”
And that is precisely what has happened in this case – Umno, which has been in power for too long now simply does not recognize its weaknesses.
Maybe the quack doctor knows something we don’t and is refusing to tell Najib because those political diseases are actually terminal, if treatment is not sought quickly enough.
